The Building Culture Podcast

Fusing the liberal arts with architecture, construction and real estate to build a more beautiful, resilient, and thriving world for PEOPLE. I believe a more thriving world is possible through restoring our built environment. But today's hyper-segregated, financialized building industry is not conducive to solving complex problems or creating dynamic places for human flourishing. I interview a wide range of guests involved with crafting the built world: developers, architects, urban designers, builders, investors, inventors & officials, exploring holistic solutions to a better human habitat.

    Good find
It’s a relief to find a US based architecture focused podcast. There are many podcasts focused on design and related fields, but I love to hear architecture based conversation. And Austin is great! I’ll be listening for a long time!

    Building better places for living
I discovered Austin and his podcast this week and have listened to half a dozen episodes so far. Each episode has felt like sitting with two really intelligent friends who want to share things that they’ve learned with you. I’d recommend this podcast to everyone interested in improving the their city.

    Building enduring communities! Great podcast.
I’ve been following Austin on LinkedIn for sometime and and have just listened to a couple episodes of his podcasts so far. The episode with Moses Kagan was amazing! It was fun yo listen to two guys who build and invest for the long term and the tactics they covered are priceless.

    Walking the talk
Building Culture does a great job of taking the core principles of good town and neighborhood planning and then demonstrating how to actually execute. Well worth the listen.

Hands Down Best Podcast on Building and Place Making.
This podcast is great for those who see construction and placemaking as a calling rather than just a career. The guests on the show are very interesting and have expertise on a wide range of subject matter related to building and construction.

    Wholesome and genuine quality
This is a great way to learn what Building Culture is all about. Great information and resources to discover what a community should actually look like. Also, a lot of behind the scenes details that explain “the why.” One side effect is that now I notice the numerous poor quality structures all around me…

    So informational
As someone who stumbled upon this podcast via my admiration of The Bend in Carlton Landing (I was merely trying to find out who built that adorable pocket neighborhood & not at ALL in the middle of this industry or conversation), I have been SO intrigued by this content & left wanting to know more. I’m currently listening to “the debate” episode between Nolan & Chuck and (as someone very much interested in government, policies & politics), finding it all VERY interesting. Thank you for all you do!

    The real deal
I’ve been following Austin’s work since he was a journeyman home builder- honing a craft and putting skin in the game. It’s been incredible to see what his work and company have grown into since then! The podcast is a culmination of years of thoughtful reflection on what makes for a built environment and community culture that open the door to human flourishing. Building Culture punches way above its weight in their contributions to conversations about urbanism, building, health and wellness, community, and sustainability. They really are doing the hard work of creating a culture that supports building AND building a culture that supports living well.
