Off Guard with Austin Rivers

NBA veteran, Austin Rivers, is joined by one of his oldest friends, Pausha Haghighi, to give you that true insider’s perspective from someone who’s actively playing in the league on anything and everything happening in the National Basketball Association. They hit on the biggest headlines and stories going on in the Association and of course, sprinkle in some of the best stories and memories from Austin’s extensive career.

Ima go off. Ima go off right now
Ball is life - IYKYK. Best commentator out right now. Little tidbits like “he dribbles with his head down — everyone knows this,” illustrates why Sub Zero Rivers is a great listen. He always keeps it about basketball, unlike other media coverage who lets narrative distort reality & balanced coverage

He has a great perspective and he’s funny. Max “Straus” Fred “FanFleet” Christian “Brawn” He should lean into the wrong names like Josh Hart does on his pod.

    Deep Thoughts
I liked the end of the 05/14 pod when Austin talked about being in your own bag. Good stuff.

    Best NBA podcast
I don’t love Austin Rivers the player but his podcast is great. He has a great understanding of today’s game and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. And his co-host keeps things moving in the right direction. They have great chemistry too.

    DPOY
Since when is DPOY a team award? Wemby causes more lane U turns than LA rush hour. Those are blocked shots.

I like this podcast. New perspectives as player.
I’m really enjoying this podcast and Austin’s perspectives. Enjoy his contributions on ESPN as well. Good luck Austin Rivers.

    Solid but…
Too much ranting from Austin. Austin also consistently ends the show abruptly. Whats the rush to end if you have a good conversation going?
  • Big lil Tone
    Volume issues
Bro this is the only pod, where I I have to turn the volume up and down just to hear, I need a better mix on the pod or Austin to stop moving away from the mic, it’s getting annoying at this point, love the pod tho.

    Best
I was sad when you switched cause I thought you got on a team and sunset the show. Another adjacent show advertised your new spot and I lit up. I listen to Brian, Zach’s, jj’s, pg’s, kg’s and a few more and hands down I look forward to your drops the most by far. Keep killin it A&P.

    Meh
Austin is certainly knowledgeable about the game, but usually comes across as an arrogant, insecure, out of touch dork, who peaked in high school. He talks too much, mostly about himself. He needs to let Pausha talk and listen a bit more rather than wait to talk even more.

    Legit
I always look forward to this podcast. Austin Rivers’ perspective on the NBA, players, coaches and culture is insightful and interesting. Pausha clearly knows his NBA history and the two compliment each other well. It’s cool to hear such different types of voices mesh so well and their friendship shines through. Appreciate y’all, keep killin it.

    Smartless meets the NBA
I always knew Austin Rivers would have a great career after the NBA, he’s always been a great interviewer, ESPN cameos and never never seems to hold back the truth. So I’m not surprised this podcast is entertaining, it has probably become my favorite NBA podcast. It feels a bit like the Smartless podcast, with the organic convo that happens. The dynamic between Pasha and Austin is funny and personal, so it keeps it light yet informative. Highly recommend you take a listen if you’re an NBA fan!

    Best basketball podcast
Austin and Pausha are fantastic together. They have great chemistry. This has moved up the ranks as my favorite bball podcast. It’s fascinating to hear the inside stories from Austin during his time in the NBA, and hopefully he gets re-signed soon. Even though Austin is a major germaphobe (how did I survive drinking from a garden hose as a kid) :), he’s still seems like a cool dude. All kidding aside, mad props for giving us the most entertaining bball podcast.

Great vibe, great chemistry, interesting takes
Ngl my opinion of Austin was not that positive so I was skeptical but he and Posha are actually really good at this podcast thing. This is one of my favorite podcasts now and I love the laid back vibe. I’m rooting for you to get signed to a team Austin so your inside knowledge doesn’t run dry haha

    Greatest Hang
Getting the honest, inside reactions and feelings from Austin is truly priceless for any NBA fan. The interactions between him and Pausha are endlessly entertaining. This podcast is like hanging out with my two new best friends. I’m so excited it is going to twice a week.

    Off guard is on
Austin gives very honest feedback about the game. Might ruffle some feathers but as a fan, you get insight. And I want him on the Warriors!
