The Divine Council Worldview Podcast

Welcome to the Divine Council Worldview Podcast, where hosts Ronn Johnson and Mike Chu honor the legacy of their late friend and colleague Dr. Michael S. Heiser (author of the best-selling book The Unseen Realm). Our interest is the Bible, studying it through the lens of its original authors and audience. We will specifically take notice of created divine beings and the role they play in the physical cosmos through the ultimate authority of Yahweh, the God of Israel. Join the fun conversation!

    Great show
Thank you for carrying the work of Dr. Heiser forward. I thoroughly enjoy the show because if adds context and additional data to bolster my faith. One suggestion: please start uploading to YouTube as well. YouTube is currently 25 episodes behind Apple Podcasts, but it is where I prefer to listen to my podcasts. Thanks again and keep up the awesome work.

Really enjoy the discussions. Another person’s insight into what the Lord has led them to understand can be so beneficial. My thanks to all. Doug in Michigan

Teaching Jesus even when it’s hard!
Thank you so much for Dr Bennett being on the show!!! I can’t wait to read his book.

    Love the podcast
I love the podcast and the music on the intro. I’m wondering who it’s by? Please let me know. I have to reduce my rating. I have a critique. Jesus is Yahweh. I think that’s clear with many passages that refer to Yahweh in the Old Testament that the New Testament authors use to refer to Jesus. Especially in the book of revelation.. Maybe I heard you wrong Ron but but it seemed like you said that Jesus is sent by Yahweh, but he’s not Yahweh That was episode 36 “The Two Powers in heaven” I would suggest doing a Q&A episode to correct such things. Please give listeners an opportunity to ask questions.

    Thoughtful, Insightful, & Exciting!
This is a thoughtful podcast about understanding the Bible in its own context. The hosts allow the text and historical context to drive the discussion rather than any one group’s doctrinal leanings. This is a thoughtful, insightful, and exciting way to explore the text of the Bible in its own ancient context.

    Thought provoking
I appreciate learning more about DCW, I’ve missed Dr. Heiser. I’m also curious to know more about the music. I wish I could find a way to contact the hosts.

    Turning a corner
Ronn and Mike have taken the time to work the fields Mike Heiser began and are ploughing new ones. Pray for them and let’s support them. Continue to believe and stand with Yaweh.

An Excellent Show and Great Way to Honor Dr. Heiser
This is an excellent show for anyone interested in studying the Bible on a deeper level. Thank you Ronn and Mike for starting this podcast and carrying on Michael’s legacy. I’ve been missing this type of content since I’ve listened to all of the Naked Bible Episodes so I’m grateful to God for men like you guys! Keep up the great work, the Church badly needs more of this!

    Can’t get enough!
We need more of this! I am so thankful for access to the insights from these Bible scholars. It really helps me to understand how the Biblical narrative from start to finish about the Kingdom of heaven flows so seamlessly. It’s the tough passages where we learn the most, and fortunately we can now understand them thanks to efforts like this! Thanks Mike and Ronn especially

    Maturing podcast
Five stars, because of the scholarship of the hosts and careful exegesis of the topic. First, thank you for carrying on the work of Michael Heiser. I pray you are among many who are exploring his thoughts and scholarship on the Bible. For those of you who have stumbled onto this, please know that the divine council worldview affirms that the Bible is the Bible. It is not extra biblical thinking. As Michael Heiser would say, if it’s weird and it’s in the Bible, then you probably better stop and figure it out.

    Warms my heart-
I have been devouring this content for the past 5 ish years. I miss Mike’s voice, but this gives me the nostalgia I’m looking for! Thanks for taking the baton! I’m an Emotional Wellness Practitioner, offering an inner healing modality assisting my clients to work through past trauma. It’s amazing how much the DCW comes up in our therapy. Understanding the scripture in this way really gives great peace during the emotional healing God is offering. I just purchased several copies of What Does God Want, so I can hand them out to my clients because so much of our healing begins with understanding who God is and what He wants! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

I happy to see the continuation of the revealing of God’s word that Dr Heiser was doing, thank you!

    Thank you!
Thank you! Thank you so much for continuing Dr. Heiser’s work. And simply saying “thank you” isn’t enough for some of us. In episode 8, you guys mentioned hearing from people that have stories to share about how the Divine Council Worldview has impacted their ministry…is there a way to get those stories to you? Some way of contacting you guys? Thank you again for what you are doing!
  • Longtime fan of Dr. Heiser
    Divine Council Worldview
I am a longtime listener of the late Dr. Heiser’s Naked Bible podcast. I am so glad the DCW content is being continued in this new series with Ronn and Mike. A couple of suggestions: 1) Please find a different genre for your music intro (that would hopefully appeal to a wider audience). 2) Please let Mike Chu finish his thoughts. Sometimes I feel like his input is cut short just when he his making a significant point.

DRMSH The Scholar is Poignantly Missed forevermore.
So far I’m disappointed from the the departure of Dr. Heiser’s approach to the Hebrew text. All due respect to Ron and Mike but the show is yawner when talking about the DCWV…need to take a cue from The Bible Project Team because they riff and rock the DCWV and then some. But worst of all if I heard Ron say something to the effect that Jesus’ Ministry is subset to the Divine Council is concerning and must be recon with… Jesus is LORD (Yahweh) and He was there at the Beginning. Lastly the good takeaway this podcast has reminded me to finish listening to the 100’s episodes in The Naked Bible Podcast.

    Thank you
Thank you for putting together this podcast! My only comment would be to let Mike speak a little more.

    Music
I don't listen to heavy metal and rap because they carry a spirit of arrogance; opposite to humility.
  • Th3logo
    Love the music!
Love that you're doing this podcast and keeping Dr. Heisers legacy going. It's great that your starting from the beginning of understanding the divine council worldview and moving on from there. I believe will be referring to this podcast often. Again, I love using the unique art form and genre of hip-hop music to introduce the podcast. God bless!

    Show good… Music bad
I am a big fan of Mike H. And his content Also I read the articles Ronn wrote for Mike’s NBP website… good stuff I have been hoping for someone to pick up the ball Good luck… I’ll be listening

    Despise the intro music
Love the podcast, despise the intro music.
  • Rustyballard
    Excellent episode.
I really enjoyed this episode and the topics you discussed. Y’all went down the road off what evil provides others when they follow. I’ve always wanted to ask how evil physically manifested themselves when worshipped. I’m looking forward to more episodes.
  • Bealovesyou
    Thank you!
Thank you so much for continuing the conversation that Michael Heiser started! I pray much fruit comes from this.

    Exceptional
This podcast teases out the implications of Divine Council worldview through scripture in a way that’s both thoroughly accessible, and profound. Bra—VO, guys. Whatever you do, don’t stop.

Could not be more excited for this podcast
Losing Dr. Heiser, though I never met the man, felt like losing a mentor. Could not be happier that his work is being continued on in this way!

    Good Discussion
It’s wonderful hearing how the divine council worldview plays out in the Bible, which after one sees, is hard to “unsee”. Thank you! I like that we’ll be able to ask questions too. For what it’s worth, I like the rap, imagining Heiser would have liked it too.

    The church needs this
Dr. Heiser and his ‘Divine Counsel worldview’, in my opinion, is paramount to understanding your Bible. As christians, we have been sort of lulled to sleep to the ancient context to the scriptures. Even certain Seminaries aren’t teaching and informing on these ‘behind the curtain’ types of topics. So thankful to Dr. Johnson and Mike Chu for carrying on this way of looking at the Bible!

    Ongoing work!

    DCW
loved the introduction to the first episode looking forward to hearing the next installment, also I’m sure you might get some pushback from the rap song I actually had reservations about it at first but after listening to the lyrics particularly “the myth that was true” I’m almost certain that the rap was intentionally written for the podcast so therefore I love it lol. Excited for this Podcast
I am very hyped to hear more from these co hosts. The content of Dr. Heiser came into my life at a point where study of scripture was required for me to truly understand what it was that I believed, and the DCWV really helped me better understand the text so as to make clearer sense of what the Authors meant. And now to be able to hear multiple voices discussing this world view in depth, I feel like our community will have a better outlet for discussion of the subject. Dr. Heiser may have been the Original for and he had a lot of interesting and well thought out ideas, but hearing multiple opinions about what the Bible has to say in relation to these things is important, because if we just sit in an echo chamber of our own voices we might get the idea that we’re right. My only complaint is that I’d like to know the artist for the intro! Could not find it anywhere in the channel information

    Dr. Michael Heiser (cont.)
Although “The Naked Bible Podcast” has come to end, I couldn’t be more thrilled that the work of the late Dr. Michael Heiser continues with one of his best friends leading the charge, Dr. Ronn Johnson! Thank you!

    Legacy lives on!
Thank you Drenna, Mike and Ronn for continuing to talk and teach as we all journey towards fullness in Christ our King.

    Good opener
Thanks for efforts at continuing much needed DCW education. I like the perspectives exchange, but not the rap open and close. Such detraction is enough to lower to 4 star.

    Worth it!
