And Colossally That's History!

And Colossally That’s History! (the name a reference to a famous line of Murray Walker commentary) is the podcast that takes an unadulterated look at the earth-shattering events, epic sagas and huge characters that have shaped motor racing history. From Grand Prix racing as a tool of the Nazi war machine to how Ayrton Senna’s death shaped modern F1, hosts Matt Bishop and Richard Williams will discuss and dissect these topics as only they can, bringing new insight and fresh perspectives that help explain how motor racing moved from niche past-time to the multi-billion-dollar sporting spectacle of today.

    Fascinating Deep Dive
Matt and Richard provide wonderful deep dives into Formula One stories and characters from the past. Yet another excellent podcast from The Race. Very much looking forward to a future Max Mosley episode.

Wit and Wisdom from two great storytellers
As a fan of F1 for over 50 years, Matt and Richard’s podcast is by far my favorite. The combination of Matt’s insights from within the workings of teams and Richard’s encyclopedic knowledge of history, often witnessed first hand, is simply unmatched. Whether you’re new to the sport, or an “anorak” like myself, you will find much to enjoy and appreciate here. And Matt’s uncanny impression of Niki Lauda is pure entertainment! Keep up the good works, and looking forward to season 3 and beyond!

An absolute must for motorsport anoraks
Since becoming an F1 fan several years back, I’ve been hungrily hoovering up every bit of history I could find. The Race’s original history podcast, Bring Back V10s, has helped immensely with this, but its era-specific mission left me wanting more from the older days. This podcast has come in to fill that need perfectly! I’ve loved every episode so far, and hope they record thousands more. These older stories fully deserve to be preserved and remembered, and the Bishop-Williams team delivers them beautifully. For anyone remotely interested in motor racing history, this is 100% mandatory listening. Phenomenal work!

    Accessible, Fascinating
Matt and Richard transport us to an era we might only know bits and pieces about, the same way Bring Back V10s must feel for fans only familiar with the turbo hybrid era. It’s not only informative and insightful, but also a pleasant listen from two proper enthusiasts.

    Required Listening
Wonderful! Scholarly, personally intimate, and presented by a pair with great rapport and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed season one and feared there'd be no encore. Season 2 episode 1 is brilliant! Can't recommend this more highly, to motor sports fans or even the casual history buff. Thanks for a great listen.

    An American perspective
From an Americans perspective, it’s just another podcast from The Race production team bashing anything and anyone non British. These two old curmudgeons with stiff upper lips should be ashamed of the Michael Schumacher episode they did. Easily one of the top 3 drivers to ever sit behind the wheel of an F1 car, and they spent 40 minutes being negative about him, while comparing him to British drivers from the 50’s-60’s. Come on, seriously? Eh, I love the Race Tech podcast, mainly because Gary Anderson isn’t British biased. Was really looking forward to hearing some more rich history of F1, my favorite form of motor racing since I was a kid in the 90’s, but sadly its not doing much for me. Maybe it will get better, and I hope it’s just a case of first year difficulties. Really sad about this one, but I do thank you for giving us a few stories of quality, like the Helmet rig Schumacher was wearing and his training. Maybe y’all just knew him too well, so it’s a case of old friends rubbing each other or something. Or maybe my tiny American brain doesn’t get the British humor. Cheers.

    Another Hit From the Race!!!!
As an avid listener to Bring Back V10s I am delighted to say that this is a perfect extension of that beyond the V10s era, both Matt and Richard are able to clearly communicate their vast knowledge and story telling expertise about F1, in simple terms: it’s a great show
