Generalized retirement podcast with its own interesting perspective.

    Informative
I enjoyed your Podcast it appears you will continue to provide timely educational material to ponder each week, thank you So sad it has ended. Thank you for the two seasons. Do come back ya here

Smooth and pleasant but financially lite
I listened to three episodes. The presentation style is pleasant and easy to understand. However, the financial information is unlikely to be useful for anyone who has done more than casual research. Lots of information, but little practical information. Many other podcasts present practical discussion without the not so subtle infomercial aspects that are present in this podcast.

    Whole show is an ad
A weekly, 30 minute long, advertisement, interrupted with mini ads, that you can subscribe to. No actual information is shared. It’s all, “if this is your situation, you definitely need a financial planner. Try ours, it’s great at your situation!”

I only listened to part 1 of the pod about retiring abroad. The dude being interviewed seemed like a big d bag and I’m wondering if the audience is a bunch of naive scared white people or if this guy is a xenophobe (or both). I assume anyone seriously considering retiring abroad has answered a bunch of the questions he raises. His advice to “consult an expert” about everything is self-serving and condescending.

Not for DIYers - Mostly a promo for their sponsor
I listened to several episodes, but found the answer to most questions ends up with needing a financial planner. The sponsor of this podcast is a financial planning firm. Also,I found the information to often be incomplete, if not inaccurate. In the podcast today, an answer included buying an annuity to provide a stream of income. It would have been very helpful if they had mentioned which type of annuities, because they’re not at all the same. Mentioning an income annuity, specifically a SPIA, would’ve been far more helpful. Another question was about money in a brokerage account. The answer assumed that people only use brokerage accounts for investing in the market, so all money in a brokerage account would be in risky investments. No mention was made of any safer investments in a brokerage account, like CDs, treasuries, etc. It’s a sad commentary when it appears that I could do a better job of answering some of these questions than these so-called experts. Just because you get paid to do something doesn’t make you an expert.

    Basic and infomercial
The show is okay. Every once in a while there is something educational, but essentially it’s an infomercial for EFE and very basic.

    Great Show
I really enjoy this podcast and learn a lot…. Great topics. I look forward to listening to it. 😊
  • justindex
To much time spent on the host.
I have listened to this podcast for awhile but have started to notice the host starting to promote her own company called Her money. If I wanted advice about Her Money, I wouldn’t be listening to this one. Deleted the future podcasts. Just Index

    So is Soledad out?
I’m not sure if there was an announcement and I miss it but really enjoyed hearing more than one perspective.

    Thank goodness O'Brien is gone
Now that they've booted the half of the team that openly mocked conservatives, we can get back to neutral advice about money. Goodbye and good riddance to the epic fail by Edelman Financial Engines. Thankfully I know from experience they are better at managing money.

    Right?
This show is great, but it’s also a great drinking game. If you have a drink every time one of the hosts says, “Right? “, you will be bombed about halfway through each episode.

    All the Single Ladies?
Enjoy the show but hoping you’ll consider a series or shows for single women and financial planning, retirement, both never married and other statuses. I realize the world is built around coupledom and families and are the primary audience for you. But we do exist! Thanks.

    Annoying interruptions
Decent content but all the plugs to Edelman financial engines is disruptive to the flow of the podcast.Too many other really good podcasts out there to continue to listen to this one
  • LizzieIBS
    Awesome show
I have been listening to this show for years and really like the new format with Soledad and Jean. I only wish the podcast feed was separate for full episodes and the bonus episodes which are just individual segments from the episode.
  • vms200
    The snippets are annoying
Would rather listen to a once a week format of about 30-50 minutes instead of having all the 3-5 minute multiple episodes that contain the same content that was part of the weekly episode. Very annoying to follow the podcast.
  • JCJ326
Too many “words for the sponsor”
The content is ok, but there are just way too many plugs for Edelman Financial. It actively makes me NOT want to be a customer of Edelman. Stop pounding us over the head with it.
  • Abe77
    Not educational
Trying to make something as simple as rebalancing impossible without their financial advisor? Silly. This show is not teaching anyone. The entire show is designed to convince people that they can’t hack it without their advisors. People need to go somewhere else for advice.
  • Cbonnell0564
    schizophrenic show
Hosts are ok trying to provide basic information while the “expert” guests brought in from Edelman are just trying to guilt and scare and convince listeners to use Edelman Financial Engines as a financial planner. Clear conflict of interest here.
  • BCMusicLover
    Simple, practical, easily understandable
Jean and Soledad and their guest are so pleasant and talk about relevant topics in a simple and easily understandable way. This is practice podcast well worth listening to, I just wish they wouldn’t repeat podcasts so often.
  • zbopvbs
    Good content
I appreciate what they discuss but the download format is annoying. I’ll listen in the car and it will play a few 4 minute bonus episodes and then a longer 25 minute episode that contains those bonus parts so I’m listening to the same stuff. They also replay episodes which adds to the repetition. Not great for a commuter-listener.
  • Hopphead
    The last straw.
Well now Edelman financial is pushing E.S.G. great. Been following E.S.G. for about a year and a half now. Thank God we have some state legislators pushing back against ESG and moving their state pension funds away from any companies that have anything to do with it i.e. Black rock, Vanguard group, Goldman Sachs etc. it was really hard to listen to Rick pandering to folks as 525 riots were going on across this country, BLM and antifa destroying businesses not just big businesses little mom and pop businesses destroyed in those riots. Talk about generational wealth being destroyed.Time to unsubscribe and move my money out of Edelman financial.

    Miss Ric
This may be OK if you have no knowledge of anything finance-related, but for me it’s too basic and includes too much personal opinion and lifestyle discussion.

    Virtue signaling
Wow - what amazing social commentary from your first guest on episode 15. If I want to hear about how someone is so white-privileged, I’ll find a leftist political podcast.
  • wow surprisingly bad
    Condescending guest
Your discussion with Ken Dychtwald was extremely off putting. Anyone who does not subscribe to his post-career views is dismissed as just “goofing off” in retirement? Hard to take your show seriously when you put this type of condescending drivel out there.
  • jjt1412
    Lacking…
I listen to a lot of financial podcasts. I love Hermoney that Jean does. I find this one way too full of fluff. Today’s episode was full of political opinions and lacked on substance. To be honest with you, it’s just plain boring!
  • Garycal
Two Hosts Is At Least One Two Many
This show does not need two hosts for less than a hour, particularly since one seems clueless. Would be much more interesting if hosted by a knowledgeable financial planner rather than the two personalities who currently host. Would benefit from more time devoted Q&A from listeners.
  • KCMAMA5
    Great show!
Really enjoying the new format - it’s important to hear advisors share real advice. Jean and Soledad are great!
  • dmcancel
    Too many downloads!
I like the podcast, but it’s so annoying that you have the whole show downloaded and then you break it up into pieces and download it again during the week. Either do short segments or one long one - not both!
  • Likes 2 Fish
    Question and Answer
I initially liked the show, but after hearing a listener’s question being read and answered, I like it even more now. I miss Ric taking calls, but the email question made the new show all the more enjoyable for me.
  • apppainintheass
    Yikes
Jean seems competent and lovely and has a beautiful voice. But she had impossible shoes to fill because Ric’s show was so great. I don’t know what Soledad’s job or role is other than to ask other people questions since she doesn’t appear to be a subject expert. The show now comes across as one long advertisement for EFE. Ric’s new podcast is even worse though so I’ll give this one a few more tries.
  • Cujo2000
    Used to love it…
Have been a long time listener, but can’t handle the pivot to Soledad O’Brien; she will ruin the brand.
  • Sharkey7x24
    Awful, awful, awful
One word describes this podcast - awful. I miss Ric Edelman.
  • free market maniac
    Unlistenable
New show is horrible. Nothing but a long commercial to try and get the listener to hire an overpriced financial planner. Soledad O’Brien and Jean Chatzky are truly unlistenable. Find the Jill On Money podcast instead…much better show.
  • Duke Lecker
Ric was entertaining, Everyday Wealth not
Ric was engaging, had inflection in his voice, and jumped straight into thought provoking meaty content. Everyday wealth sound like its recorded in a library with soft tone whispers. Works for some, not me. I miss Ric. I really liked Isabel Barrow as Rics back up and think she should have received more consideration for his ultimate replacement.
  • KAH21
    Love the new format!
I enjoyed the new show. I look forward to the new team going forward.

Your advice is good for all the people who will never listen to the show. Those who will need something far more sophisticated.

    Jean Edelman’s Psychobabble
I sure am going to miss Jean Edelman’s weekly psychobabble, said no one ever. Seriously the only part of this show that I absolutely cannot stand. Most of his advice is pretty good and entertaining. Thank God there’s a fast forward button.

    Spelling lessons ending?
Looks like Ric is hanging up his microphone but probably a couple years past the expiration date. A victory lap worthy of his ego. I don’t know where to turn to for a spelling lesson now that everyone’s favorite segment will be no more in the fall… happy trails
  • DPW1969123
    Usually good
This is usually a very good podcast but lately they keep sending out duplicates or 6 min of a previous podcast, which is nothing but a waste of our time. Also the “everyone’s favorite” portion of some of the podcast could be left off and I would be happy.
  • Amtrak13
Sensible focus on the long term
Ric (or “Rice”) hammers home the same basic, sound principles weekly but makes each show interesting. Start saving early, contribute regularly and take responsible risks like buying stocks and getting a mortgage. Of course there’s a bit of a pitch, but I think he really cares. Great listen.
  • qqwqqww ゆら
Constant Sales Pitch with Elizabeth Barrow when Rick is away!
I like the show when Rick is there ((except for Jean’s segment) but when his associate is there it’s a constant sales pitch and I think she often hedges much more than Rick when giving answers to questions.
  • passive agressivw
Rick Edelman became a Debbie Downer
Rick used to give a good fundamental advice for years. Don’t know what happened to him he became a scare monger especially since March 2020. Tired listening his constantly scaring stories about Covid and constantly saying that in the future Congress will change laws regarding Roth IRA. Common already!?
  • Cinscientious
    Out of touch
After several recent associations with individuals of low character it’s time for me to move on. There are other financial commentators offering the same advice I’d feel more comfortable patronizing.
  • Liz2Day
    Done with it.
Used to be a pretty good podcast, but has turned way too touchy-feely. I just want facts. Can get more helpful personal finance info elsewhere.
  • Abington HOCU customer
    Ric pays tribute to Rush
No matter the excuse, there’s no justification for Ric’s giving praise to Rush Limbaugh. Rush was a partisan, hate-mongering, radio host. Being rich famous doesn’t warrant praise but it’s clear now where Ric’s heart is, how he feels about minorities, and the underprivileged.
  • Jjlox75
    Infomercial
Really tried to like this show but the last two episodes were the final straw. There are better financial shows out there.
  • StillRunningOnEmpty
    Worthwhile Podcast
I have been a listener to this Podcast for a few years now and find it full of common sense in regard to considering your finances and life in general. I think that is what draws me to listen. Yes, Ric offers his firm’s services should you think you require support or portfolio management but his offers are not over the top. You will broaden your knowledge of finances and the investment world through this Podcast. As a disclaimer, I managed my own portfolio for 30 years before using the services of his firm. It has proven to be a good fit. Bottomline, be thoughtful in your investment decisions, invest with a purpose, learn from your mistakes and live within your means. This is a Podcast that warrants your consideration.

    Stick to Financial Advice
Spare me your fake outrage over our nations protest. The election was stolen. I don’t remember you saying anything over Portland burning or record high murder rates in all major cities. I used to listen for investing advice not your woke outrage. Another thing, give your wife her own show and leave her off yours. No one who tunes in for financial advice cares about her “feel good fluff”.
