MotorWeek

247
Leisure #249Automotive #26

We thought a podcast would be the perfect vehicle for taking viewers behind-the-scenes of MotorWeek. We produce 52 episodes of MotorWeek a year, but we don't always have time to tell you everything. The podcast is a unique opportunity for viewers to hear our personal impressions of the vehicles we road test, discover the stories behind the stories MotorWeek is covering and learn more about where the auto industry is headed as it focuses squarely on fuel economy.

    One thumb up
Generally speaking I like the show but to many hosts to many people talking at once, they talk over each other

Thank you John Davis and team!
Decades of fandom that has followed you all to the podcast world. You are all appreciated!

    Out of Date
I’ve been a very long-time Motorweek viewer and listener - since the 1980s. But the pod is getting further out of touch lately, often including info on EVs, AI, etc., that is simply wrong or missing key elements. And when John Davis asserted in this week’s episode that full EVs are a bridge to a future of hydrogen cars, that was a bridge too far for me. They really need to hire someone like Marques Brownlee, Laycee Schmidtke (Miss Go Electric), or Tom Moloughney to join the team and bring them up to speed. If you want general info about the cars and tech of the past, they’re fine, but if you want to understand the latest technology and future direction of transportation, sadly, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Loved the pod but why are random 2017 pods showing up now?
I haven’t seen a new pod show up in a month and now random old 2017 podcasts are appearing?

    Electric cars are boring
Please leave the electric car reviews to the nerds at Consumer Reports.

    Electric Cars
Please limit your electric car reviews. Less than 10% of the US boys then, go after the 90%

    Overdose of electric
I love this pod, but it’s enough already with the inundation of electric car propaganda on nearly every episode now. We get it, we should all be driving these stupid looking glorified golf carts. Then the world will be at peace. Or whatever.

Experienced car people but except for the woman, old fashioned
I listen to so many car Podcasts and perhaps because I’m from California and love modern design and the changes data auto industry is making, listening to everyone on this podcast except for the woman, seems like we’re talking about cars from a perspective in the 80s. She however, realizes the importance of EVs, she doesn’t doubt their relevance, whereas the guys all seem a little baffled by who will purchase them. I don’t get that, because at least recently, the Tesla model three was the best selling premium sedan in the country. Someone is buying them. Get hip!

    A Quick Note
Thanks for producing this podcast. Brain’s contrarian view point and Greg’s driving impressions are appreciated. Recoding the podcast remotely makes the audio quality poor in the final product. Maybe somebody has a bad connection but words get cut off or garbled in most podcasts.

Informative content, but horrendous audio quality
You guys have produced professional TV content for decades yet you allow your host and contributors to sit in their kitchen echo chambers 4 feet from some sort of built in laptop mic for this recording?? Does anyone listen back to this podcast? I know this seems harsh, but you as professionals know better. Use quality mics and get up close to them. It matters to those of us who listen. Nothing turns me off to a podcast quicker than crappy echo’e sound. In this post Zoom world there is no reason your show should sound like amateur hour.

All about cars and the industry
This is a very well done podcast. Good ways to describe it: Candid. Fun. Insider. Automotive. Journalism. I feel like I’m sitting around a table with the legends from MotorWeek and chatting candidly about cars and the automotive industry. It’s open, it’s fun, and it’s approachable.

    Terrible audio
Audio is not great. Hosts talk over each other. Seems like an outfit such as Motor Week would put out a Podcast with 1st quality audio.

    The New automotive Journalism!
Its taken me some time to separate the Good from the poor podcasts. Yours is We done! You present good review info. I also enjoy the conversation about electric vs ICE. For me I would miss the growl of an engine winding out & going the next gear- still a thrill for me, so I’ll keep buying real sports cars as well. On the other side we had a gen-1 volt and if they had offered a mid-size Volt SUV, we would have done that too. I think total electric is too early as there is very little infrastructure. I won’t settle for “range anxiety. Thanks Larry C

    Not very professional
I enjoy hearing about new cars, but the hosts don’t seem to know much about the technical aspects of vehicles. Also, they could use a course on presentation skills. Every third work is “uhm” or “like”. A car review should include more than just the bling.

    Tongue clicking classic
For those of you who are annoyed by tongue clicking / lip smacking noises that are so pervasive in MotorWeek podcasts I recommend that you avoid this episode. For tongue clicking enthusiasts this episode is pure gold! John Davis is the undisputed King of Tongue Clickery.

Just as good as the TV show!

Get an engineer on the podcast
You idiots know anything about cars. Talk about something more technical than just the looks and how it drives.

    I want to like it....but
Overall good but the production quality seems to be lacking. Sound quality from host to host is very different. Also, for car enthusiasts, at times, these guys seem to be at a loss for words. Almost like they don’t have a plan as to what they are going to say???

    Good content bad execution
I’ve been watching the tv show for over 20 years and enjoy the format. The podcast gives more in-depth commentary on the cars they have on the tv show all though it’s become unlistenable. The amount of high pitched teeth sucking before every sentence is UNBEARABLE!!!!!!. It’s understandable why the tv show had stuck with one host to narrate almost the whole show as all others have no clue how to use/speak into a microphone. Unsubscribe and move on!

    Great show
    Great show!!!

    More frequent episodes please!
Podcasting is the best format for John Davis because he actually sounds like a normal person and less stilted than he does on TV. The podcast is entertaining but the episodes can be too brief and they arrive way too infrequently. Give longer episodes and produce one per week or at least every two weeks and you'd have a great podcast.

Btw corvettes rule....do a comparison between the 911 and the z06.... We want to see and hear about American muscle kicking euro trash butt! Kidding of course...great podcast and great tv. Keep up the great work JB

    Broken and infrequent episodes
Episodes don't download even when subscribed. Episodes too infrequent and irregular. Episodes too short. Otherwise a good podcast when it's available.

A MUST for anyone who loves cars!
i stumpled upon this podcast after missing a few of the TV shows. This show is informative, sometimes funny and very quick but always enjoyable. The show seems to "speed" through the 30 minutes. I enjoy the show's interesting facts and comments they bring on several automobile topics which are presented on the show. Their car reviews are easy to understand and not filled without too much technical speak. The hosts interact with each other very nicely and sometimes humorously. It's like listening to your friends around the water cooler. This show is definitely a must listen for anyone.

    Opinions from Pros
If you think the PBS version of Motorweek is a little short of opinions and insight you may be on to something. None of that I'm ok your ok reviewing here. These guys have an ear to the ground and spark some top notch debates on what's good and what's an '84 Dodge Omni. Would like to hear the podcast on a little more regular basis.

Didn't think the audio podcast could live-up to my favorite car show but I was wrong. The most entertaining auto podcast out of beautiful Maryland. Can't wait for the video podcast.
