x4bf81cThanks from the back row!So I’m reviewing this podcast even though I’m only about 4 minutes into my first listen. I’m here because I’ve heard Patrick’s live presentations before and after screenings at my local theater. As a crabby, elderly shut-in with impeccable taste in movies, I appreciate these opportunities to get out of the house and continue my metamorphosis into Statler from The Muppet Show. Anyway, Patrick’s contributions to these screenings are so engaging, insightful, and enjoyable that I had to get into this podcast, despite not being a podcast person. I’m pretty sure he’s my spirit animal. Or patronus? Is that what the kids say? I know a review of a show i haven’t yet listened to is a bit useless, but I’m Minority-Reporting it and assuming that it brings the same vibe that he does in person. Patrick has a talent of making his audience feel like they’re “his people.” Deep passion and knowledge do not have to manifest as elitism or gatekeeping, and I think this is what makes his presentations (and, presumably, broadcasts) so relatable. Patrick (and crew) thank you for the community you’re creating! I’m looking forward to digging through the archive. One of us!

DonnieDarko Belmar NJMore Adam RiskeSeriously. I love this this podcast in general and have been listening for years, but I replay the Adam episodes. Dude just kills me. The voice of the “obnoxious movie kid” and white Sox fan guy. It’s just to good. Whole crew is great but sometimes you just click with someone’s humor and that’s podcasting magic.
-
Davehatesreno1994I love a Patrick & Erika episode. They dance close to the Seinfeld “Schmoopie” line on occasion but never cross it. Keep up the great work and BBV 4 ever!

Vincent and MaxThis show has become a slogI know this podcast has gotten negative reviews as of late related to their political preferences (who cares? It’s a movie podcast). The real problem dragging this show down is how the hosts have devolved into scrolling IMDb and Wikipedia for cast notes instead of having an off the cuff discussion about movies along with the content constantly going off the rails on side tangents and unrelated topics about actors and movies that don’t relate to the direct conversation. The last two Wes Craven shows are a perfect example of the hosts going on side tangents for extended periods about Amy Smart movies/ Happy Madison productions/ obscure actor bios that have nothing to do with Red Eye or Scream 3. Cravens output in the early 2000’s is an interesting topic and the hosts completely derail any insight they have on his work. It’s glaringly obvious Patrick had no interest in Scream 3 but it gets to a point where he actively shut down any interesting discussion even related to the movies troubled production. It’s already difficult enough getting through the hosts dour demeanor but now the shows almost unlistenable with the constant inside jokes an lack of actual conversation.

Superjan63more than just the podcastThe podcast is always fun (and I love that Patrick has female voices on too, a lot of movie podcasts seem to “forget” that women LOVE movies too) but you should also check out the columns on the website, so many different voices and fun reads. They support each other.

Don DrapperGreatI’ve been listening to F this movie for close to 6 years now. The Goldeneye episode was my first episode and I’ve been hooked every since. It’s one of if not my favorite movie podcast. Great line up of co host who all bring something different to the table. The have you seen anything good lately segment of the show ( btw you can skip that portion for those of you who don’t like it) has introduced me to more movies than any other podcast. Matter fact Patrick has introduced me to several other podcast as well. Even when they’re discussing a movie I have no interest in like pretty in pink the host some how manage to make me wanna go and watch it. Ps: listen to the show regularly and you’ll get the inside jokes.

Big vviliamLoved this show for years!I’ve been listening to the show for about eight years and all I can say is what a lovely podcast! There are very rarely guests who I don’t care for their sense of humor, but by and large this is an amazing podcast and my favorite movie centered one. Take note, they start out every episode with about 20 to 40 minutes of general movie talk before getting into the listed subject of the episode. This used to annoy me, but it has become my favorite part of the podcast where I regularly write down movies I need to see or avoid. And it surprises me that there are a few negative reviews centered around “have you seen anything good lately“ because it has been a consistent part of the format from the very beginning. They have some very old and jokes, that emerged naturally out of 10 years of doing the show, so if you find that you like their sense of humor and presentation then go back and listen from episode one and by the time you get to the mid-hundreds you will feel like you are hanging out with old friends. I really like a lot of the guests, but episodes with Erica (#RelationshipGoals), Doug (a.k.a. L.A. Doug a.k.a. funniest guest west of the Pecos) or JB (who’s better half Jan is clearly the best of us) make me stop and pay attention because they are always a delight. And of course the anchor of every show is Patrick who surprises me after 10 years by still bringing new and insightful takes to movies I thought I knew very well. Oh, and the episode about Oscar thrilled me to the core because I’ve never heard anyone else like that movie as much as I do. 😁 10 years and going strong, here’s hoping for at least another 10 more!

Emilio AmaroMovie Love For Movie LoversI love movies, these folks love movies
-
Greg - New YorkMovie LoveI see some reviews complaining that the show has too many inside jokes and digressions. Sue me, but that’s called character. I’ve given up on too many podcasts that stick to just talking about the movie because it’s frankly kinda boring. I like getting to know the hosts and guests, knowing their quirks and tastes. It makes the discussions more fun. I love the way frequent guest J.B. goes on tangents before getting to his point. I love Adam’s earnest love for teen horror and Draft Day. Host Patrick is the ultimate movie fan: passionate and knowledgeable without a lick of pretension. It’s like listening to your friends talk movies but it’s infuriating because you can’t jump into the conversation. And that’s probably the best thing I can say about it.
-
13dmpUgh.We’re 32 minutes into the Pretty Woman episode and they’re finally starting to talk about the movie. There are much more entertaining and less boring podcasts out there. Sorry. This is just. So. Boring.
-
gregorygobUsually a very good listenI subscribed to this recently and it has a lot of strengths and weaknesses. I’ll focus on the positive because I really like the host, the general topics, the consistent release of episodes and the sound quality. Sometimes the digressions and inside jokes are just a bit much though. I’m glad they’re making themselves laugh so I won’t give them an overall thumbs down but there are times when I wish they would focus on the subject at hand or maybe do some clipping. In general I do think this is really a fun listen and I love the episodes where surprise guests from other podcasts show up like the one with Elric Kane. Thanks Patrick for a fun show
-
PapaJupe13Annoying. Ride unfunny jokes until the wheels fall off...They talk way too much about things that have nothing to do with the movies. IDGAF about your hotdogs man, I checked you out to hear about The Warriors. I checked out when they would not stop talking about the hotdogs. And this is not Mike D. Who uses the name of a super famous person? Lame.

-
Sam_MartinezGreat podcastI’ve listened and enjoyed this podcast for years now. I’ve even had my 7 word review read by JB during scary movie month. Although I like the entire crew, my personal favorite shows are when Patrick and JB team up. Their love for movies is honest and incredibly relatable.
-
miss wimseymovie loveone of my absolute favorite things is listening to adam riske unabashedly love what he loves. it’s a joy to hear, and we all have those movies that catch us in the right way at the right time, and it’s refreshing to hear him, and patrick, discuss movies dear to their hearts.

DeadRingersPodcastGreat podcast for film lovers of all stripesPatrick Bromley has assembled an AVENGERS-esque lineup of great contributors to this podcast, all of whom play off of Bromley in interesting ways and bring unique, distinct perspectives to the conversation. I love the rotating co-hosts and they way they are selected to fit the movie being discussed. The podcast, and Bromley in particular, offers some seriously great film criticism while never failing to approach the material through the lens of people who genuinely love all varieties of film (but especially horror). This podcast will not only enrich your film knowledge and appreciation, it will do so in a way that is entertaining and fun. Cannot recommend this highly enough and I’m sorry it took so long to write this review.

I_Luv_LunacyA great podcastA great podcast from people who truly love movies!!! Also, a great community around the podcast. F This Movie hosts various annual events (Junesploitation, F This Moviefest, Scary Movie Month) that allow for excellent audience interaction.
-
mr teaspoon(used to be) my favorite podcastOriginal review from 2012: I absolutely love F This Movie. It strikes the perfect balance of meaningful critique and 'I'm just sitting at a diner talking with my friends'. And even though there's a rotation of co-hosts, there's no 'that guy' - the one who talks too much or makes awful jokes or has nothing interesting to say. 2017 update: F This Movie is now nearly entirely 'that guy.' The insightful movie discussion is now completely hobbled by awful jokes. Totally unfair speculation on my part, but it seems like they became successful and are now content having friends on and spending most of the time laughing at each other's bad jokes rather than making 'good radio.' There's definitely still some good movie discussion taking place, but I just can't tolerate the humor.
-
KrankydoodleEntertainingAfter sampling a few movie discussion podcasts, this has become one of my favorites, partly because I've seen or am interested in most of the films they talk about. More importantly, the actual discussion is usually interesting and funny without being obnoxious. I've also found out about a lot of indie movies that I hadn't heard of before. And I like the different perspectives the rotating lineup of guests bring in and their rapport with host Patrick Bromley.

topcat606Movie LoveA great podcast for movie buffs! Interesting conversations, well written website! Thank you Patrick, Adam, Rob, J.B. & all the other hosts! Bon Courage!

Shane2010The Best Movie PodcastThis is the reason that I love podcasts. This fantastic show just passed its 400 episode mark and after all that time, the quality has never dipped. It is somewhat troubling how much I look forward to Wednesdays when they release the new episode but I'll take a little shame if it means having the pleasure to listen to these guys talk. Top notch every week. Great rotation of hosts. All fantastic but Riske is the man. So many great recommendations for films you may have missed. I cannot recommend it more highly.
-
MajorGarlandBriggsI'd love to keep listening...But I probably won't. Could you all please maybe keep the same distance from your microphones? Maybe mix and master before you post. I'm just a simple listener of podcasts and I'm not a sound engineer but I do know it's very annoying toggling my volume up and down to adjust for these inconsistencies. Back to Filmspotting.

ericaliendoA RevelationVery insightful and entertaining film podcast. As a burgeoning cinephile, I have been given a wealth of knowledge and vocabulary to use when watching and describing movies by tuning into this podcast for the past year. I have been directed down the right cinematic path quite often by the FTM contributors and their recommendations. I also know that when I download an episode, I am in for some laughs and good banter. The community that has formed around this podcast (and more specifically its incredible host, Mr. Bromley) is very encouraging to see in the cold internet age. The podcast finds success in its sincerity and its love for film.
-
AmandaHuginKissMy favorite movie podcast!Every week I check on with this show which is saying something considering some of the films I don't care for at all. The host and his rotating guests are funny and well-informed. Patrick also scores some great interviews as well!
-
