    Unique & Thoughtful
I’m so happy to have found this podcast a few years ago! I love it as much now as I did then, so many podcasters change their style over the years becoming more dramatic and theatrical to attract attention but Roman has been so consistent and easy to listen to. He brings attention to things that often times we’re exposed to on a daily basis but never even notice or give a second thought to how they came to be (I.e. the Curb Cuts episode) Just an overall great podcast I’ve really enjoyed over the years!

An OG you should be listening to, NOW!
Ninety-nine PI may seem a bit of a mystery from the title, and that’s okay. The content is too. This show discusses design and architecture in a fresh way. How all sorts of things are designed, the intent behind the design, and even the unintended consequences of that design. You’ll never look at an object the same way again after you listen to the calm, intelligent voice of the host, Roman Mars. And the show has spawned some delightful offspring. Start listening TODAY!!

    I feel smarter having listened
Love the show but agree with a previous reviewer that there is too much chuckling (short stories). Probably shouldn’t bother me but it’s excessive. Keep up the good work, but stop laughing at your own jokes and other unfunny comments.

    never disappointed
I’ve been listening to this show for a few years and I am never disappointed by an episode. I know I’ll be intrigued and wowed even when it’s about something I think am not that interested in. Like when I listened to the episode about sand, thinking ‘how fascinating can sand be?’ and then after listening, promptly ran around telling everyone how fascinating sand is. It’s that good.

For superficial people who like cool names
The podcast has been slowly assuming an obnoxious arrogant outsider hipster attitude that is obnoxious. Mars talking about his precocious background is the kind of barely veiled narcissism we can do without. While Mars states all Radiotopia podcasts are the most original and creative in the universe, they each follow a template from NPR and This American Life. So, if you are a sort of semi urban poseur with a good education weak in a critical examination to on of liberal arts, but mediocre grades, this is the kind of podcast that will make you feel smart, with it and cool. Coolie cutter pseudo intellectualism you quite ordinary beautiful nerd.

    Quality is maintained
I started listening from day 1 and it is one of the very few podcasts in my feed that has maintained or increased in quality over time. Always interesting, always educational, always fun. Thank you!

    Spend money on branding
99 is great and my feedback is to rebrand the podcast. It can afford to and would really make a difference to see it professionally branded. For a podcast that concerns itself w/ design this seems like a well warranted undertaking.

    Best podcast ever
If I could only have one podcast for the rest of time, it would be this one! Roman’s voice is calming, engaging, and easy listening. They explore so many interesting things that effect you everyday! All the contributors are amazing and interested in what they are reporting and you can feel that!

    Informative and incredibly entertaining
I love this show! The episodes are laid out perfectly. Roman has a nice silky easy to listen to voice which helps! And me being an aspiring architect, I get a lot of ideas from the show to get my creativity juices going!

    Wonderful
Always an educational & fun show. I like Roman Mars’easy going style of story telling. Especially since Roman started just casually talking to the producers. The sheer joy of conversation really is engaging and Roman’s giggling is infectious.

    Quality Content
I’ve been listening to this show for years and it has never disappointed me! Each episode is full of fascinating information, and the audio quality is amazing. The crew is able to convey so much, just through sound. Keep up the great work y’all!

    The best thing going
I always learn something fascinating when I listen to this podcast. Well produced, written and executed.

    Welcome, beautiful nerds!
First, I cannot believe that it took me this long to write a review. And second, I have no idea how to summarize my appreciation and adulation of this show. I compare nearly all the other shows I watch to 99pi. I’ve been listening for a few years and I’ve also gone through much of the back catalogue when I feel like a week between episodes is just too much. To describe listeners as beautiful nerds is, I think, an accurate indicator of the content of the show.

    I appreciate the world more.
99% invisible is the podcast I recommend to my friends whenever I can. It is endlessly entertaining, beautifully produced, and has opened my eyes to so much of the previously invisible world. I still look for “desire paths” (see episode 263) along all my daily walks.

Stop the constant chuckling Mr Mars!
Have found the short story episodes impossible to finish due to the host constantly chuckling in reaction to what he’s being told. Researchers sometimes seem to enjoy giving absurdist spins to what they’ve ‘discovered.’

Great show! But concert pitch mini-story was weeeeaaakkk
I love this show and really look forward to every episode! Roman’s voice is more relaxing than the sound of a Tibetan singing bowl. This show has opened my eyes to all of the thoughtfully designed toothbrushes and McMansion hells that surround me. However, the mini-story about 440 concert pitch was sooooo inaccurate and incomplete I’m not even sure where to start!! Any classical musicians (especially Baroque performers) listening were probably screeching as they heard this story!! Otherwise keep up the good work 👍👍 14/10

    Just great
I look forward to every new episode of this podcast! No matter how small the topic, these explorations always make the world seem a little bigger and more interesting. Thank you Roman and crew!

    The Very Best
This show is as entertaining as it is educational. Roman Mars is a pro at the top of his game, and his producers, composer, and staff are equal to the task. By the way, I’m making my way back through your catalogue. Thank you for #188. I have a new favorite protest song. That recording is stunning!

    Infantorium - not eugenics
They don’t even know what eugenics is. They claim doctors in the early 1900’s who shunned keeping sick children alive was eugenics. It was clearly not. Eugenics is selective breeding. Letting nature take its course is not eugenics.

    Always genuinely great!
There is a huge amount of work and research put into each fascinating episode. It is incredible how much there is to discover in the world of design, and this show does a great job off illuminating each feature, place, thing, and idea in fascinating detail. I especially love the compilation episodes.

    Best podcast on the planet
99PI is endlessly fascinating, with a gentle sense of humour and revelatory stories. You learn and you smile.

    Love it!
I love this show so much - like each episode sounds like it might be boring based on the topic but you just have to trust that it will be a story so unexpected and interesting you’ll be looking for a way to work it into you every conversation. Oh and the music is truly so so so good, it makes the show next level good. I give it 4 instead of 5 because I don’t like Roman’s “beautiful nerds” thing, what is that? It sounds so forced or something I just cringe when he says it.

    Woke and soon broke
Go back and listen to early episodes. They were informational and interesting. Every new episode now feels like it has an agenda. I’ve been a listener for 5 years and I’m considering turning off auto download or deleting all together. You’re catering to a small percentage of the population. Stop before the show is ruined. Stop living in the Twitter bubble.
  • MauKatKar
    Gotten boring
I find this one to pile up in my feed with un listened to episodes. It has gotten mostly boring , along with the most adds of any podcast I have heard. When Roman goes off script and chats with people it’s pretty cringey and he has a very bad fake laugh. One good thing though is he did recently have a podcast he hosted in this feed that was excellent. Cautionary tails it was called. Much better then 99 pi.

    What the heck
No you would rather go die in a whole then listen to this

    I love Roman Mars
I want 99pi to sell T-shirt’s with Roman’s face on it!!! Roman Mars for president!! This podcast has taught me so much and keeps me endlessly entertained at work. I’ve listened to every episode and share episodes with everyone I know. 10/10 would recommend.

    99% Invisible Changes You
Listen to enough of this podcast, and it changes the way you walk through the world. You'll notice and question everyday design victories and oversights all around. And Roman Mars/Radiotopia has vaulted this medium to new hights. Exemplary journalism, and fantastic business model that ought to be supported.

    Essential
This is the only podcast I have ever donated money to. Roman and team have been consistently coming up with fascinating topics. A personal favorite is the episode about Salt Lake City. Make this a part of your life people!!

Good show that could be great
Would love to see up to half of the stories about women since their labor is the most invisible.

    A treat I didn't know I needed
Always a treat and usually covering something I didn't know exists, this podcast delves deep in the the design behind the world in which we live. Even the ubiquitous can have a fascinating origin story.

Possibly My Favorite of All Pods
I listen to a lot of podcasts, but there’s something about hearing “This is 99% Invisible. I’m Roman Mars” that makes me happier than just about anything else. And typically, the stories that come after the intro are also great.

    New Mexico’s Chile
Thank you for bringing a little bit of New Mexico’s Tradition into the spotlight. We are a culture that through our Chile we will unite our state.

    My longest subscribed podcast
This has been one of my favorites for a long time. Your audio tour of the Guggenheim inspired me to leave a review. Here’s to more audio tours 🍻

    Back on Track
I checked out after the multi-episodic shows on clothing. I felt the quality dipped a bit and was moving away from the original intent of this show. My son recently informed me that it’s back on track! Once again, Roman, provides an amazing and quality program that rests in the pantheon of podcasts. Keep it up!

    have some principles
Accepting money from the qatar foundation is shameful. Do better. Education city is the qatari royal family funnelling money to greedy schools in exchange for legitimacy

    Almost always interesting
I love HB! Except for the days when they post an episode that I’ve heard before, and the occasional boring episode, I 10/10 reccomend HB!

    Love this podcast but
Don’t bother with the old episodes. 12 minute episode. 6 minute ads. Quite irritating. Was a super fan until discovering this
  • ALCavazos
My favorite podcast of all time.
The topics that are covered are always intriguing. Roman has the best voice ever.
