King James Bible

14

As part of the 400th anniversary celebrations of the King James Bible, an ensemble of leading National Theatre actors, directed by Nicholas Hytner, James Dacre and Polly Findlay, read twelve extracts from the Book that changed the world. This podcast collection features each of those readings and a live recording of the talk Melvyn Bragg gave looking at the radical impact of The King James Bible over the last 400 years. These audio recordings of the National’s King James Bible readings were made possible thanks to the generous support of Allchurches Trust Limited. Sound design by Yvonne Gilbert.

    Wonderful and illuminating
Many thanks to the National Theatre for this great podcast. The King James Bible is one of the immortal works everyone should know, regardless of religious persuasion. The readers bring this marvelous book alive and it sounds like pure poetry in certain passages. Highly recommended.

    Melvyn Bragg
This review was suppose to be about the King James Bible. However he talks too fast, drifted away from the subject. He stated too much on race. For some reason he thinks the African American as slaves did not know Jesus until they were slaves!!!!!! Rubbish!!! White colonist were not the only ones who knew about Jesus... Melvyn Bragg needs to do more research!!!
