    Wow
Amazing! I love this amazing podcast. Altough, i do want more about sats, and suggestion, interviews with astronaughts. “Houston we have a podcast” has interviews. Otherwise this is great

    Best Spaceflight History Podcast
SRH is the best Spaceflight History podcast around. A very comprehensive narrative of every mission - crewed and uncrewed - since Sputnik 1. Going strong after 11 years. As a retired engineer at Kennedy Space Center, I look forward to each episode.

    Great Information
I was only 4 when Apollo 11 touched down and changed world history, so I appreciate Mike’s podcast. So much I didn’t know about.

    Grateful for Michael Annis
I am a space nerd. So much so, that I was a counselor at Space Camp in Huntsville, AL as well as a childhood graduate. I’ve been looking for a podcast to give me more detailed information about all of the past space programs. I didn’t have to look any further than this podcast! I started in the archive and am almost finished. I look forward to starting this section of the podcast soon! You can tell that host Michael Annis puts a a lot of heart and hard work into every episode. I especially love his “off topic” commentary at the end. You get to know a little more about the his personality. I am so glad Michael Annis decided to do this podcast. I have learned so much more about the space program. Thank you Mr. Annis for sharing your passion for space history and exploration with us!

    Love this podcast
I’ve always enjoyed learning about space history, and this podcast does an excellent job of presenting a chronological record of how it all progressed. I’m starting at the beginning (you can find all episodes at spacerockethistiry.com). I love the fact that you get whole episodes on something that might otherwise be just a footnote in history - I’ve learned so much and I’m only 20 episodes in. It’s well researched and well presented. Thank you, Michael!

Very well done! I especially love learning about the biographies of those at NASA
I enjoy this podcasts so much. It helps me relax and be entertained in the story space exploration. A nice way to relax after a long day. Thank you SRH team!

    Outstanding podcast
I am fortunate to have discovered Mr. Annis and both this AND the Space History Archive podcasts. A very interesting blend of actual Radio, news commentary and Mr Annis’ comments from other sources such as Biographies from participants in the events described.

    Fantastic!
I am delighted to have discovered this podcast. I’m obsessed with history and the space program. Mr. Annis is very entertaining and informative. This podcast has kept me company on many a long walk for the past couple of months

Congrats to Mike and 365 awesome episodes!
I love the research by Michael Annis and his gripping, moment by moment re-telling of the most exciting time in human space exploration. It is truly amazing to look back on the amount of technology developed to accomplish the impossible. I have my favorites but I cannot lie, I started at the beginning once my son shared with me the 50th anniversary edition of Apollo 11 and the moon landing. Bravo!

    First Rate Work
As a journalist I have a particular appreciation for the amount of research that goes into bringing this much information together. This podcast does a terrific job of aggregating and presenting a gargantuan amount of space history. Started at the beginning and I made my way through Apollo 12. Well done, sir!

“Space Rocket History” is a fascinating, incredibly detailed account of space flight, both crewed & robotic. I’m relatively new to the podcast, having only discovered it during quarantine, but am quickly making up for lost time. I am very appreciative of & grateful for “Space Rocket History” & the companion “S.R.H. Archive” podcast.

    My Favorite Podcast
I love Space Rocket History and Michael Annis! He combines details explanations of space technology with dramatic storytelling and a respectful approach to historiography. My friends and family are tired of how much I talk about space history right now, and it’s all because of how accessible this podcast has made it. I started at podcast #1 about two years ago and have made it into the low 300s, hoping to catch up to current soon. It’s a fascinating look into such a major portion of American (and world) history and so inspiring to see what was done by so many people working hard together toward a goal. This podcast is truly worth a listen!

    Inspiring to listen to
While working on projects and listening to the podcasts are truly inspiring. I was born during the Apollo era and thought the Apollo programs would have lasted longer then they did. These podcasts are informative and bring a piece of history to life. Thank you for the work and research that they do to bring them alive.

    Excellent/Lots of Fun Anecdotes
Mike does a wonderful job with this podcast. He compiles information from many different sources & acknowledges discrepancies. Mike is fun to listen to; this podcast is clearly a labor of love for him. I grew up during the Mercury, Gemini, & Apollo programs & have geeked out on them for my entire life; yet somehow Mike still teaches me things I didn’t know. Highly recommended. (I do kinda wish though that Mike would learn how to pronounce some of those Russian names. 😜)

Wonderful narration. I consider myself very knowledgeable on manned space flight but I managed to find nuggets of information that were interesting and I was unaware of. The Apollo 7 episode was a good example.

    Apollo 11 Launch #213 - Thank you!
Hearing Walter Cronkite again was brilliant. His narrative is etched in the memory along with the streaming visuals and the intermittent interruptions of the launch countdown. Could entirely recall the moment, the words, the anticipation and the thrill of a profound accomplishment this meant to so many, a nation, and the human experience.

    Extremely detailed and engaging
I listen to this all day as I work. I’m a pilot and I love space history, but not as much as Mr. Annis who’s passion for the topic shown in this podcast makes me not want to stop listening. Just decided to start supporting on pattern since I’ve listened to 3 Apollo missions and plan on listening to all episodes eventually.

    Great podcast
When I’m at work I always listen to this podcast. The attention to detail is immaculate. No stone left unturned.

My favorite part of the day
This podcast is my favorite part of the day. I would listen to it all day if I could but look forward to listening to it on my way home everyday. Thank you Mike for all the time and effort you put into this podcast.

    Nostalgic bliss of rocket history
Meticulous and detailed podcasts of the classical, space race era of space flight. Mostly US flights, and mostly manned -- as they are by far the best documented -- but getting more into Soviet space race as well. A labor of love and, I hope, a view to the future.

    Amazing archive
The sheer volume and detail of western mans greatest technological achievement is astounding. Well done sit.

    Great but...
A truly great podcast. Thorough coverage of every mission, often with original NASA and news audio. Well constructed and presented. That said, the mispronunciation are maddening (e.g. Veneer for Vernier, Seanus for Sinus, Canapus for Canopus, etc.).

    Perfect
I have to travel everyday for my job and so I am always on the lookout for something equal parts entertaining and informative. As a NASA fanatic I stumbled upon SRH a few weeks ago and have been listening constantly ever since averaging 6-8hrs a day. There is very little I could stand for this long everyday and yet I still can’t get enough. Do yourself a favor and listen, enjoy and learn. Ps. Only down side is my wife heard me listening and busted me. We recently got a new dog and I originally wanted to name him “Bean” for my favorite astronaut Al Bean. She told me no NASA names...well I got her to agree to “Atlas”. She had no idea until she heard me listening to Sigma 7 and the Atlas booster....whoops, busted.

    Mind food
I am lucky enough to have the Apollo 11 landing in my science curriculum. I started listening to this to deepen my background knowledge on the Apollo program. I have since become hooked. I love the format and insight into the astronauts thoughts. Keep up the good work Michael!

    Cool
I love this podcast but I do kinda wish that you did recent missions to though. I would recommend this podcast to anyone that is fascinated by space!
  • NiftyInsight
    Almost like being there
I recently discovered this podcast and I’m amazed at the level of detail and quality of the production. I’ve really enjoyed listening so far. If I close my eyes I can imagine that I’m right there beside the astronauts. Well done! Keep up the great work!

The History Is In the Details
My preparation for today’s 50th anniversary has been by watching & especially listening to documentaries & analyses of most space missions prior to Apollo 11. The depth of information gathered, redacted, and presented by this Podcast is astronomical. One of my college professors said that the most accurate historical interpretation of an event “is in examining the details” including its contemporary context & social significance. Mr. Annis does this. In my graduate study we were taught to rely heavily on primary sources — for me it was ancient texts from 1500+ years ago. Thank goodness there are volumes of audio data to provide the play-by-play. His narration further defines the chronology. During the late 1960s & early ‘70s, my father contributed to the development of video & data recording systems used in spacecraft — via RCA in Camden NJ, one of NASA’s subcontractors. He was one of the key electrical engineers who invented a magnetic-tape recorder which flew on Skylab. The staff were given the official mission patches for those that they worked on in some capacity. I have his: Apollo 10, 11, 12, 15, Apollo-Soyuz, plus Skylab I & II. My dad was killed in 1993; my eldest brother that same year, too. In 1985 my grandfather died in a similar accident which could have been prevented. Recently I bought a $300 jacket at a thrift store for seven dollars, and I planned to have 11’s familiar “Eagle & Moon” patch affixed. After hearing the sad story of Apollo 1 (January 1967), I decided instead to use its own beautifully embroidered colorful but tasteful symbol. All six men —Grissom, White, Chafee, and Flint, Flint, Flint — died in the midst of tragic fire. History repeating itself? I think not. There are plenty of people who hail the triumph of “our” landing on the moon, and rightly we should. Personally though I choose to honor those who suffered the consequences of the negligence particular to them. The seamstress worked a miracle... it is sewn very deep into the leather like it had been there all along & was waiting to be uncovered. The learning of situational history works in similar fashion; the truth of the day (e.g., the audio clips, documents) uncovers a broader reality. And that brings understanding of that reality. I guess the spoken delivery is a bit slow & sometimes a little stilted, but this hefty podcast shares a great deal of primary source material. Present pursuit of knowledge about the past must inform the unfolding of the future. My $7.00 jacket testifies that the history is in the details. For that reason it is now priceless.

Love your podcasts and I love space!
I am ten and am unterstanding everything he was talking about! He was explaining everything very well. My Dad and I sometimes listen to the podcasts to go to bed. I fall asleep really fast. Yes I recommend your podcast I LOVE THEM! And I hope you had a good anniversary!

    WHY CAN’T I GIVE THIS 7-STARS?
Every word that can possibly be said about the dedication, explanation, and sheer joyous jubilation that Michael (and his bride) bring to the world in every episode has been said before! Consider this review yet another reinforcement of every five-star review before mine - thank you for giving my ears such happiness and my brain such stimulation!

    Love this pod!
Michael does a great job capturing the evolution of space exploration! The series on Apollo 13 is an absolute treat. Would recommend to anyone looking to better understand both the technical and geopolitical challenges that great nations faced in their race to the heavens. Great stuff, keep it coming Michael!

    Space Rocket History
Terrific and incredibly detailed history of the space race. I am old enough to remember a lot of this history and followed the space program religiously as it was happening but this podcast has really impressed me with its focus on details that I never knew about. Very well done. Highly recommended.

Long form detail about every mission
Who knew Pete Conrad could be snarky or Alan Bean was a klutz in his space suit? I do now. Detail about Apollo 13 was great!

    Addictive and very in depth
I love to submerge into the active space pioneer time. Michael Anis is making this time come back very realistically. When I drive cross country for days you pot cast is my way to stay focused and alert. I‘m an engineer and enjoy every technical detail but as well the various political relationships in and around NASA Excellent work and showing amazing depth of interesting detail! Thank you!

    Memories Are Made of This
This podcast brings back great memories from my childhood love of manned space exploration. It also creates new memories with its revelation of details not publicly known back in the day. Great job!
