DariusM0F0Building a foundation upon an irradiated crater.I know there was some bad drama surrounding a certain you know who, but was burning your entire fanbase in order to erase that person from your life the best way of going about it? You created new canon yes, but you based roughly 90% of the new NPC’s, background lore, etc on the first, now missing, three seasons. I was a long time fan, and I tried, I honestly tried but I can’t continue. It’s like taking my DnD group and nuking everything they did and achieved because there was a “That Guy” at the table for the first year of a campaign.

Hannibal KingWhere are the readings?I used to listen to this podcast exclusively for their wonderful dramatic readings of Lovecraft stories but when they rebooted, they pulled the episodes. Now I don’t listen at all. CaF, why were the readings pulled? And will you bring them back?

Judg3sWelcome to St. PaxtonGoodbye Cthulhu and Friends and to the first arc. Don’t even bother listening to the message about it just forget it ever existed. If you are a fresh set of ears just start at the first session and go from there because realistically these people’s content is really good, and despite there amazing start they all apparently hate it shouldn’t be ignored. I hope to come back to this when I’ve forgotten what it was.

louisemfrySTORYCRAFTCharacter work, editing, acting, world building—this podcast excels at it all. This is funny, emotionally compelling pulp fiction storytelling in a tabletop game. I have listened to a lot of RPG and actual play podcasts and this is *The MOST Underrated RPG Podcast*. It honestly drives me crazy that they’re not raking in attention for this genuinely great work, but I feel lucky I came across it. Invest your time in listening, it’s worth it.

~Birdy51~Welcome to St. PaxtonIt’s just another day. You check your phone, computer, or perhaps some other listening device. You might have just finished some other good GeeklyInc shows. But your intuition has led you to this show, to this review. Listen to your intuition. Welcome to St. Paxton is hands down the best horror supernatural roleplaying game podcast you can find. Join Staci, Fred, Mike, Steph, and Veronica as they navigate the scenic St. Paxton. United in their search for an old friend, Clara, Bellamy, Todd, and Edward must navigate political responsibility, crows, and good books that you can really get lost in. Special mention to Rob, who did a wonderful job for the music in this very special podcast. I’ll say no more and leave it to you now. Trust your instincts. Book your ticket and get ready to roll for your sanity.

bmcalpineAbsolutely AwesomeThis is an update to my review. I can’t say how much I live this podcast. You are all amazing storytellers and I am loving Welcome to St Paxton! I live the direction that Veronica is taking this! Keep the can’t miss podcast coming!

sixela1792Cthulhu and FriendsDefinitely enjoyed it and that it was very story based.

TbdsaintsWas one of my favorite podcasts until they removed the first story arc or first couple of seasonsIt was one of my favorite podcasts until they deleted the whole podcast history preventing anyone who was in the middle of the series to finish. Yes I under stand that it’s your podcast and that you have right to insert legal mumble jumble but saying that and removing the old arc/ season because let’s say creative differences or someone being their usual self or the fact that it really just seems that you just want to remove anything that has to do or be associated with a certain individual or they way they are or act. What would have happen if Shakespeare at the end of his career decided he didn’t want any tragedies to be associated with him then we wouldn’t have Romeo and Juliette, Hamlet, Othello, or the Scottish play. Will possibly revisit the review if they make an abridged version of the original seasons or release Mike’s last time so people have the opportunity to finish it or at least give us a dead line before the delete.

Kanthos88 (TK)A delightful frightSince the reimagining of the CAFPodcast the quality just continues to get better each episode. From the prologue building a relationship with the players, not just as characters in V's wonderful world but as unique individuals that as a listener you begin to feel for. The players, Mike, Stacey, Steph and Fred are just amazing. Each episode cliffhanger leaves you chomping at the bit for more to find out how this macbre tale of intrigue will end. Forget everything you know about eldritch horror and welcome on the new wave of investigative eldritch horror. Enjoy a stay for in St. Paxton and see the thrills as they unfold.

TheNerdlyKingAn Investigative ThrowbackThe new arc started with an interesting hook: friends and D&D party members go looking for their missing friend who vanished before their eyes. What it becomes is a delving into the paranormal and weird, which is exactly what I’m looking for in a Lovecraftian inspired story. Moreover, the cast enjoys the unpredictability of their wonderful GM, V, and the production quality is absurdly great! It’s one of the only podcasts I listen to as soon as it drops!
-
Lonewolf86Well made fun actual playI’ve listened to CAF for a while now and have always enjoyed the world Veronica weaves. It’s full of characters you’ll love to listen to and in no way ever run into horrible fates..... And don’t forget you can try anything....... roll sanity.....
-
Sarge9009Horrible......that I didn't review this sooner. I've been hooked on this since day one, and this led me to find the Orpheus Protocol also. Both are FANTASTIC works of art that will confound you and keep you hungry for more.
-
Kanthos88AMAZING!!!!Super awesome podcast for a real play podcast for a system that draws you in. Sometimes the story will catch you right in the feels and you wont even know it. The reboot is even better!
-
SerTyrionI love this showPlease don’t read this on the air. I loved the first couple seasons. It got too complex and confusing there for a bit, but the new season is fantastic.
-
JRufer13Fantastic podcastI cannot get enough of this podcast and what V and the crew are creating. I’m finishing up my second listen through and it’s still so creepy and incredible. So excited to see where the series goes from here.
-
PyrognomiacWell that was horrifyingWhile I am disappointed there is no longer a backlog to binge, this season is shaping up to be exactly the eldtritch horror my creepy little soul needed. The storytelling is chilling without the feeling the need to detail the gruesome (which is unnecessary 99.99% of the time), and the PCs are so painfully human it's wonderful. Also the meta of the PCs playing D&D never ceases to make me laugh.
-
Monkey TrickBurning the listenersBingeing through the stories then they are gone? No warning, just gone. Apparently from some drama behind the scenes.

CircleofvMuch better than before!I was an early adopter of CaF and loved *most* of the show. From the very beginning, I tried to overlook a particular cast member as the storytelling (and other cast members) was enthralling. After a while, the unnamed cast member got to be too much and I split somewhere around S2 or S3. FF to end of last week. I’ve been craving the storytelling style and overall feel put out by the crew. I figured I’d give it another try. I’m glad I did! Apparently, I wasn’t the only one uncomfortable with the cast member. While the rollout left a lot of questions, many of which have been adequately answered by piecing together tweets and reddit threads, this new era of CaF is just what I needed! Uniquely CaF without the nausea-inducing, unnecessary offensiveness. Things can still be shocking, horrifying, and gross in a good way without the tag-along of offensive behavior. Sorry to those that felt abused along the way and I wish nothing but healthy, happy creepiness in the future. Can’t wait for the next episode to drop!

WorldlyRhymesVeronica has a terrifying mindI adore this podcast. Veronica is no holds barred as GM and the team creates a truly creepy ride full of death, destruction and insanity. No one will survive, or at least they haven't yet. I'm constantly creeped out and scared and I love it. Featuring HP Lovecraft monsters and a cast of satisfying characters too big for even Veronica to kill. My only wish is for Josh to find a single woman in podcast land he doesn't want to call a b-word. It's fantastic start to finish and there hasn't been a single episode that hasn't captured me! Thanks for a great show guys!

WeirdGirl13You can try anythingAnd you should try this podcast. It's got great role-players, GM, and editing.

Nex_xGood Show, But...I somehow found myself listening to D&D podcasts and recommendations led me here. I thought myself fortunate to have found it late so I could have hours of entertainment listening to this great podcast. Binge listening to it to bring some life to my day while I go about completing mundane tasks. Unfortunately in the middle of season 3, all the episodes become unavailable making it impossible for me to continue and catchup. A very disappointing move that forced me to unsubscribe for now, I may return to appreciate the new arch but a little angry right now. This act of deleting episodes (with no apparent recourse to access older episodes via other mediums) is akin to that of reading a great book just to have the author rip out the latter half of pages before you are finished. It was a great podcast and I was deeply enjoying it. It has great writing, mixing in the macabre, mysterious, and monstrous with elements of an good action and crime thriller movies. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Speaker1966.I have no expectation of this being allowed to be published, but I was a fan through the end of season five. Within moments of the opening of season six they added a gratuitous insult to President Trump. I listen to things like this to avoid politics. With that the podcast members made it clear I'm not a welcome part of their audience. Thanks, but I guess I'll move on to something else.

CuteHedgyHogSo Good, So Gruesome, So PodcastI originally picked up this podcast to break up all the DnD podcasts I was listening to and boy-howdy I was not prepared for just how much of a shakeup I was given. Not only was I treated to a expertly crafted story that I couldn’t imagine in my wildest nightmares, but the production is immaculate and role playing is on a Hollywood level! (Excluding the hilarious bloopers of course!) But in addition to all that, this podcast helped me make a friend! Just as I was set to begin Season 4, I was given a new assistant at my job. He was intrigued after I explain what the podcast was about so we started listening together. It was a great way to break the ice and now he’s hooked too! We spend the shift freaking out over the insane action, theorizing about the story, and just plain having a good time! We’re on season 6 now and can’t wait to get caught up! Thanks for giving me something unique and horrifying to listen to and to help me make a friend!

MizuSHinobiAny more episodes?I have enjoyed listeining to CAF and have binged the enitre back catalogue in about a month. Will there be updates? Are there more episodes coming out? Feeling a little left out to dry.
-
Goose9956Must have more!!!!I started listening to this podcast maybe two months ago and have since then caught up to the new release’s and I’m dying every week when Veronica calls each weekly episode. Can’t wait for the next episode! Love this podcast! I struggle however now with how infrequent the new episode come out and they are not even game play. The story has stopped.
-
Dr. OntologyAll about the “& Friends,” great PCs & Female GM!Veronica gives the How We Roll bousba run for their money. Great storytelling and I’m a fan of Season 4, and being set closer to today than the Jazz age. Wanna feel like you know 4 cool people and get horrified st the same time. Roll for Sanity & F-Bombs!
-
Andrea Price and AnabelleEvil geniusVeronica is an evil genius. I don’t know whether I should be impressed or worried for her sanity. 😋

NeiruDark and wonderful. This podcast is creepy fun. Amazingly strange and often complex story line will keep you entertained for hours. Maybe don’t listen to it in the dark.
-
scralatchtica85Love itI only started listening to podcasts in December 2017. I binged hello from the magic tavern, which led me to drunks and dragons, then random encounters, then Cthulhu and friends, and now on to Brute Force. 5 stars to all.
-

LoganJWRExcellent!I found CaF through Godsfall; Doug was talking about podcasts he listens to, said he loves this one, so here I am! I’m writing this review after making it all the way to season 4. This show is amazing, and I urge you to listen from the beginning. The audio starts out a little hairy, but it gets way better as they go along.

David shunjiThe bestThis is my favorite podcast
-
awexfwexTop of the LadderDo you like feeling unsettled, and occassionally nautious, for an hour or so at a time? Then this is the podcast for you. Whatever the opposite of a relaxing bath is, do that, while you listen to this professionally produced show. Not sure what the GM has against bathing, but she's fan-bloody-tastic, and the whole crew roleplays entertainingly.

Akh1980Must listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terra IgnotaClassic, thematic, mysterious, suspensefulI’m not familiar with the mechanics behind Call of Cthulhu, D&D 5e holds my table-top experience. That said, what I value most in RPGs is a good story. The folks generating Cthulhu & Friends know how to envelop an immersive environment, based in a world more familiar to most — think film noir. Now, collide that with Lovecraftian horror themes, and the result is this podcast. Give it a listen.
-
Loki8585ExcellentAmazingly well produced and gripping, it feels like I’m listening to a story more than people playing a game. Definitely recommend starting with season 4 Episode 1
-
Kaptajn ShaggyA work of beautyLove their voice acting and how much effort they put into their show!
-
JimmyDocRocksSolid story but pedantic GMThe full cast is relatively solid, but the high and low notes rest on the GameMaster, Veronica. She weaves a fairly compelling story with interesting twists, but seems a bit too impressed with her own story which results in almost no freedom for the players to change anything. A great GM should facilitate the players own choices with a more flexible storyline, not railroad them so the story comes first.
-
J3LewisLackingThe first 2 seasons were really good however, the last few have been average at best.
-
RatesThingsSo good!Love this cast so much! Veronica is among the best GM’s out there. Emphasis on “out there.” Really looking forward to the audition results!
-
TheVikingBear__Great, immersive storytelling from some deeply twisted mindsIf you're looking for a show filled with deep mystery, scenes that make your stomach turn, and a cast of people who thoroughly enjoy spending time together, and it shows, look no further!! This is a great show, and I'm excited to see what the crew comes up with next.

Riverhouse Games TaylorThe Bar Is SetI’ve been listening to CAF longer than any other Actual Play podcast, I think! It sets the bar pretty high for what to expect from a long form narrative. It’s a mature show, in both subject matter and longevity. In CAF, people from all walks of life are thrust into strange predicaments. Terrifyingly linked together by circumstance and struggling to survive, they must piece together the eldritch scenarios present to navigate the strange worlds they end up in. The show is professionally edited and mixed with impeccable quality, and the content matches, too. V is a paragon in her field, I can think of few GMs who have influenced my practice more than her. As a show helm, she’s calm, forceful, horrifying, crafty, and genius. Listen to this show. And take notes.

cool calm jonGreat work!So glad new content is coming out for this! Such a great concept & cast. Keep it up!
