ceekay48Why?Why is this podcast rated “clean” when profanity abounds? Just wondering.

AMILLMiddlingThe main host, Wes, seems to have become pretty negative on Star Trek as a whole. The co-host, Clay, frequently goes off on tangents about other shows to the point of distraction. He also can’t remember most of the episodes that he has watched, and usually doesn’t remember parts of the episode under discussion that week. Both use profanity seemingly just for the sake of it. Some of the analysis is good and well thought out but you have to wave through the other stuff to get to it.

James!92Modern explicit drabI wanted this. I wanted to listen to two normal guys talk about Star Trek. I’ve watched them all (except Picard), the content may work but for me the explicatives are an immediate turn off.

Aaron DisneyExcellentI’ve been going through Star Trek accompanied by Mission Log, which is an adequate enough podcast, but I’m catching up to where they are and wanted to keep going. I searched out another comparably good podcast and this is perfect. Similar tone, very few rabbit trails and excellent commentary. And not so much stupid anti theistic leftist junk as Mission Log either. A big plus for me. Glad to have found this.highly recommended.

Freedomstar12345It’s great I love SeanI love that he is not woke. I can’t take that crap. Clay is great. Sean is always great! Penske is not very political not clearly left or right as far as I can tell and that’s all that matters in that department. It’s analytical and funny and not woke like a certain Star Trek Episode reviewer I was listening till I just couldn’t take it anymore. THANK YOU

Neplusultra123Love the podcast (and The Prisoner Podcast as well)Love the podcast, especially when Clay is on to help with the analysis. I don’t find the other guests to be as organized or prepared for the the discussions. If the host and Clay had another podcast on movies, for instance, I’d definitely listen . Keep up the good work.

Erix0821Pop Culture Discussion with Wit and IntelligenceI love this podcast. Wes and Clay have a great natural rapport and very pleasant, radio-friendly voices. They go through each Star Trek episode, providing intelligent, engaging commentary and they know not to overstay their welcome. It’s just a pleasure to listen to. Even when I don’t agree with them. They make their points coherently and they don’t feel the need to constantly riff or be snarky. (Not everybody can be We Hate Movies or Red Letter Media, and I’m glad these guys understand that). Any “humor” arises out of an organic place. All Trekkers should dig in to this podcast.

David BeardmoreGreat for anyoneThis podcast does a good job of exploring episodes without being too thorough. Wes and Clay keep things light with humor and make a really enjoyable program to listen to.

Joeblow45343thoughtful trekThis is my favorite of all trek shows out there. The hosts are articulate and review each episode not with rose tinted glasses, but with an insightful and objective eye. The two hosts have great chemistry together, with nice banter between them. I recommend it to anyone who has a love of trek. DS9 rules!

MacMonkiGo ahead and subscribeWes plays ringmaster to a fun cast of sidekicks, some of whom are watching these episodes for first time. If you're a Trek fan, this is the podcast you should be listening to.

NS1414thanksIf this podcast did not exist, I'd probably just watch Trek reruns whole working my job or around the house, but now I can listen to a new take on episodes I've seen many times.. and that is very helpful.

JejjdidjdjjA “must” for true DS9 fansDS9 has been my favorite tv show for 25 years now. Many other shows have come and gone, but none have yet to dethrone this masterpiece from it’s perch atop my pantheon of divine tv shows. The Pensky Files DS9 reviews are a wonderful companion podcast to a timeless tv show. It’s amazing that we can an episodic discussion podcast to a show that came out 25 years ago. Wes and Clay give very insightful perspectives to the show and can sometimes be brutally honest with their opinions, as opposed to just constantly praising the show despite it’s flaws ( ie Talking Dead). I find this to be really refreshing. It’s also great to hear Clay’s take, given that it is his first time watching the show. All in all, this is a wonderful podcast to listen to in the car that will give any Trekkie a trip down memory lane.

Twebb15A great way to enjoy Star Trek Again.Listening makes me Appreciate the show on a whole be level. Think about what makes a good episode and what makes a bad one. What could have been changed. Wes has great insights and frequent guest Clay adds humor, but had great insight as well. Patreon supporters get to weigh in as well. Great Show!

KirathenaHands Down Best ST PodcastI’ve tried what feels like every Star Trek podcast on the planet, especially episode recap shows. This is, BY FAR, my favorite ST podcast. In fact, it’s in the top 3 of podcasts I listen to across the board, maybe #1 for consistent quality. Some things I truly appreciate: 1. 35-50 minute typical run time. 2. Discussion stays on track and relevant to episode featured. 3. Alternates guests, but they are well selected and have interesting viewpoints. He also keeps them on track (again VERY appreciated). 4. Organized. 5. Pensky does some deep analysis, but its smart and practical. In other words, this is not the ST podcast where people stretch one line into some theorem on the universe itself. 6. Regular posting schedule he actually sticks to. 7. No ads, no breaks, no interrupting the podcast—forcing you to fast forward while driving. Not that I do that kind of thing. That would be, um, dangerous. 8. Did I mention he was organized and stays on topic, while providing interesting analysis? One would think this would be a requirement for all podcasts. To each his own, I suppose!

Person 26Great Enjoyable ReviewsThe Pensky File is a great Trek podcast, as it goes in depth with each of its episodes in a both critical and fun nature. It examines the quality of an episode, as well as its enjoyment value, and goes into its reasoning for choices. The best part by far is the host and guest stars. All play off each other expertly, with jokes, banter, and analysis to keep listeners interested.

AMKarateLove it!I think this is a great podcast. They cover Star Trek, episode by episode. Helps me get through the workday!

Bob J. Koester from ChicagoAn interesting approachI like that they approach each different series on its own level. The choice of quote for the DS9 section shows a lot of insight. I often disagree with their final opinion, but their analysis is always well-done.

nfarboodyGreat reviews!Deserves a bigger following. I love the guest star reviewer approach. Very professionally done.

Orthoguy5Great listenWas going back and watching old tng episodes and came upon this podcast. Made for wonderful insightful commentary. Great listen!

Eye_of_TriadAwesome!A great take on TNG episodes. Very deep, and reasons for their opinions are quite, well, reasonable. It's fun to listen to, particularly when there are multiple people. The banter is hiarious and informative.

GeorgeAmbersonA well done professional quality podcast by a true fanI've been listening to this for over a year now and Pensky doesn't disappoint. He does a very thorough and thought out job of reviewing each episode and makes compelling arguments for his opinions, which often differ from mine (which is a good thing), and notices all sorts of details that I never do. The use of guest stars is frequent and very effective and the casual style lends itself to a very open and lively discussion. Also the podcast never feels amateur on either production or narritive fronts. Give it a listen, you'll enjoy it.

Bwall1701A trip down memory laneSuper fun podcast! Very insightful while still very funny. Keep up the good work.

Vermont TrekkieEnjoyable, insightful podcastI’ve been enjoying this podcast for a long time and am finally leaving a review. (If the podcasters see this, sorry it took me so long!) Very enjoyable takes on TNG, often pointing out things that I missed the first 5,000 times I saw each episode, and only occasionally failing to make the points most important to my thinking. This amounts to a listening experience that feels like discussing the show with Trekkie friends. I’d love to see the same folks take on DS9 when they’re done with TNG!
-
Zach 3Concise and Fun!!!I'm really enjoying this honest, warts-and-all, podcast. If you're a TNG fan, this podcast is a must-listen!
-
LordRavenholmGreat podcast for casual and hardcore fans alikePensky does a great job mixing both humor and critical insight into the podcast, leaving you both laughing and having something to think about.
-
Jt FordAwesomeI'd listen to Clay talk Trek all the live long day. This show is insightful, funny, thoughtful and offers great insight into one of my favorite shows. Great work guys!
-
Mr. HomnGreat commentaryPensky has entertaining and thought provoking commentary on TNG. A fresh perspective is always nice to have. As if you didn't need an excuse to watch an episode of TNG, fire up the podcast and watch along.
-
CarbonDoxideVery entertaining!Just got into this podcast series after it was mentioned on /r/startrekviewingparty. Love it so far.
-
modi_operandusGreat reviews and recapsPensky brings a lot of insight to each episode. TNG is one of the most beloved series of all time, but it's not above reproach. Pensky judges every episode on it's own merits, does a bunch of research for the episodes and delievers it in a confident way. Every episode of the podcast is insightful and entertaining, even if the TNG episodes themselves sometimes aren't.
