    Favorite Podcast, period.
Brilliant show concept -stories of the night; spanning from ancient hidden cave art in France to interviews of people in an Oakland donut shop at 3am. Each episode is its own little world, transporting you to something so far sways and foreign, yet so familiar. Vanessa the host is an expert storyteller, and does a fabulous job of making little movies for your ears. This is my absolute favorite podcast and I’m like an evangelical, spreading the word to any who will listen :)

    Night lovers rejoice!
The stories and soundscapes envelope you like a blanket of night. Great for walking, driving at night. I’ve felt seen by a few of these stories, which was a wonderful experience.

    Obsessively Produced
I just found this show and it’s nearly perfect at helping me wind down the day. The story telling feels meticulously told. This show has a similar feeling as Rumble Strip, This Is Love, Here Be Monsters. So glad I found this show! Please keep making this show… you’re making beautiful art!

Spooky and comforting all at the same time
Great storytelling with a wide range of topics. Wish it wasn’t only once a month.

I turn this on and get absorbed into the story and I am usually asleep before the end. Very soothing stories of the night.

    Into the fog episode
This is a very controversial issue and has been for a while, so when I provided a comment regarding the management of tule elk from the park service perspective the host responded kindly.

    Mockingbird man
It’s been 6 years. I hope karma caught up to the loser who hit the mockingbird with the hose. I hate that man and I wish him no success.

    Nocturne
I just heard a review on NPR of my favorite podcast, Nocturne. I could not agree more! Vanessa Lowe has created a beautiful and well edited podcast in voice and music that is always interesting with intelligent topics not heard anywhere else.

    So Glad I Found This
Having been mostly indoors for over a year now it’s been a real delight to listen to stories of people out on adventures in the night. I particularly loved the episode about the woman who travelled from SF to Hawaii.

This is my first time reviewing, I’m not very good about leaving reviews, but I felt compelled to say how much I enjoy these stories. The way they are put together and her voice is soothing and captivating. Thank you!

    Amazing Podcast
I’ve listened to all but a few episodes so far, and it’s been an amazing experience. I’ve felt a connection to the subject in many episodes, whether it’s a feeling, a mental state, or an experience, I could relate. And in some instances it’s a little reassuring that others feel and/or think similarly. Vanessa does an incredible job at narrating these stories and bringing them to life. It’s very easy to close my eyes and instantly be immersed into the episode. I listen to a bunch of other podcast, an eclectic mix, but for me this one is much more of an experience than just a podcast. Can’t say enough about it, just go listen!

    Truly the BEST podcast ever
I look forward to my nighttime walks home after work now more than ever with this podcast. I’m the night owl of my family, and I’m relived that there are others out there who understand the truly ephemeral properties that the night has and are eager to share their night stories, experiences, and feelings. Would recommend this podcast to every person in the world.

    Awe inspiring podcast
As a night owl, I became hooked on this podcast from episode 1! At its heart, this is a story telling podcasts, covering angles from all over the world and all types of people. Highly recommend if you are looking for a unique podcast with excellent writing. I think about and talk about many of the episodes long after I've listened!

    An experiential podcast
I came upon this podcast after seeing a post on insta. Always looking for things to intrigue my ever seeking brain I am not disappointed. If, like me, you are a seeker, this will satisfy your brain for sure. Every episode is unique and so well done. I can’t get enough.
  • P-Dub2
    One of the best!
Nocturne is unique and brilliant in the most understated way, the kind of podcast that rewards careful listening. In an era where some creators are happy to produce a great deal of content with very little actual “content”, Nocturne is finely crafted and is one of the best examples of what can be done in the medium.

A whole new way of storytelling…
Nocturne is perhaps the most unique and enchanting podcast I have ever encountered. From the moment I first found it, I was hooked to the details of each of the stories, all so different from one another. Nocturne takes you through a journey of mental exploration, questioning, and expression in ways I am certain you have never experienced. I always get so much out of the episodes. I highly recommend to any and everyone, but especially people who are longing explore the quirks of human nature and our innate desire to romanticize our existence.

    This podcast is amazing but...
...I don’t understand what is going on with pod’s feed in Apple Podcasts. Almost entire of my history of listening was lost. I can accept it once, everybody can make a mistake even the greatest. But it happens again and again. I want to see when I was listening to each episode. But even most recent three episodes has been disappeared from recently played. And because of that this app regularly ask me do I still listen this podcast and stops downloading new episodes because it think last time I played this show in 2018. It’s a little but annoying obstacle to fully enjoying this show. Please do something with it.

    My favorite podcast
By far my favorite podcast. Your voice, the sound design, everything makes me feel like I'm in the woods at night. Just one thing, Barn Owls hunt by sound, not by light/vision. Sorry! I feel really bad saying that but it's true. I tried to not say anything but I felt like I'd be doing you wrong by not mentioning it. LOVE YOU SO MUCH DONT HATE ME
  • Erin Haben
The best modern day night time radio
I look forward to every episode that comes out. My favorite modern program to listen to on my nighttime, moonlit-walk smoke/thought sessions. Keep up the amazing work

    Soothing and immersive
I discovered this by listening to the music collection (soundtrack, sort of?) on Bandcamp. This is the first podcast I have ever listened to regularly. Having been a night-owl in the past and also having worked overnight shifts on a few jobs, I can certainly relate to the “upside-down” feeling of having a schedule that is inverse to the majority. The stories are unusual and interesting, and the background music is perfectly suited to the dialogue, which Vanessa delivers in a lovely, almost hushed tone. I look forward to hearing a new tale each morning as I am fortunate enough to be starting from the first episode. I hope you can continue to find new content and keep this going for a long time to come. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you! Love this candid and interesting documentary-style podcast. Am enjoying binging episodes. Love it!

    Amazing
I also train at studio naga but I am not yet a black belt. I was at Calley's test and I didn't fight her on her night walk because she ran so fast past me. It really is different every time

I listen to a LOT of podcasts and this is by far, my favorite. I love to listen to this when I get in bed. So relaxing. Thanks Vanessa and team!

    Perfect winter holiday gift
I love this episode. I forwarded it to all my friends as a holiday gift of light. It is creative, soothing, informative and just a needed light reprieve from all the darkness around us these days. Thank you Vanessa for your lovely episode.

    Used to be great
This used to be my favorite podcast. I have terrible insomnia and am often up at night. I loved hearing all the intriguing and well spun stories about night owls and strange goings on in the night. But You Are a Candle??? Whaaat was that?? This episode was so ridiculous I laughed out loud. I teach middle school and it reminded me of a story one of my students would write. There are too many podcasters who now think it is unique and interesting to write from the perspective of inanimate objects, which, by the way, is an assignment commonly given to fourth graders. The last few have also been fluff and really short. Geez, go back to your old format PLEASE. Keep the focus on stories about unusual things in the night and people who have really unique and interesting things to say.

    Nocturne Gets Night Owls
I'm a night owl. A great portion of my life is lived while the rest of the world sleeps. This can feel very isolated, people act as if there's something wrong with being awake after midnight. Nocturne gets me. Its not apologetic. Nocturne is wonderful storytellig that explores the world that happens after dark. So many times I've found myself saying alound, "Yes! Exactly! THAT!".
