    Terrible analysis
Brooke Lopez, Chet Holmgren, Victor Wembanyama, for defensive player of the year. Not once was Anthony Davis mentioned?!? Do you even watch basketball? I don’t understand all the negativity towards a player that has such a huge impact on winning. Can’t take this podcast seriously.

    Incredible
The amount of work that Nate and the team put into even the free version of the podcast is unbelievable. As the years have gone on, they’ve only found new ways to entertain and inform.

Great info and perspective but so many final syllables in words are chopped off. It drives down my rating.

Dedicated Listener With a Few Critiques
I have been listening to the pod consistently since 2015 and have been very satisfied overall — thank you! In my opinion, the main advantages Dunc’d On has over other mainstream basketball podcasts are the following: - More in-depth and substantive analysis - Methodological Clarity - Structured and Directed Discussions - Specific and Precise Argumentation - Creativity - Lack of Bias (towards players, institutions, conventional wisdom, etc.) Some drawbacks: - The Paywall (no need to belabor this) - Confusing Explanation of Film - Rigidity 1) Very specific idea of what types of players work, leaving little room for diversity of play style 2) Generalize/stereotype players, not taking into account minute differences The main issue that’s been bothering me recently is Danny’s role. He rarely disagrees with Nate and when he does, he does not sufficiently argue his point. (Nate makes this abundantly obvious, explicitly asking Danny to make counterarguments and then strawmanning Danny’s position when Danny inevitably fails to produce one.) Additionally, he is needlessly verbose and tries to compensate for his lack of content with flowery language. The only times he adds substance are when Nate would’ve made the point regardless and Danny happens to beat Nate to the punch. I hope I don’t come off as overly-critical; I am just sharing the thoughts that have been percolating mentally for a while. Thanks again for all your hard work, Nate and Danny!

    Ad breaks kill the flow
Love the content but get so thrown off by the way the show breaks to ads and cuts back in.

    Best NBA podcast
Favorite thing is the mock offseason. Y’all should try doing puzzles from basketballgrid.com against each other

    Good
Really enjoy the pod, the most insightful basketball pod imo. I listen to every free episode and would pay for the premium but its really quite expensive. Im not knocking it, charge what you can but you might attract a broader more economically diverse audience if it was about half the cost.

    Poorly edited
Smart basketball discussion, but the show is terribly edited. Long stretches of dead air between segments or ads. Ads sometimes dropped into the middle of sentences. Shame to whiff on the easy things.

    SO MANY ADS
Edit: I am updating my review to 1 star as the ads have gotten even worse. This is ESPN halftime level amount of ads. I’m really unsure how people are able to even follow the train of thought in analysis with so many ads. The content on this podcast is great, really insightful NBA analysis and they really put in the work. Very statistic heavy and love the game strategy and breakdowns. Recently, I’m not sure what has happened but there is an insane amount of ad reads. Seems like there is a 2min ad every 5 minutes. I’m not sure if they just accept any sort of ad revenue that comes there way and normally ad reads don’t bother me on podcasts but this podcast has so many. I would definitely recommend cutting down the amount of ads, ideally just have an ad at the beginning and end.

    Radical Left Wing but Great
The content is the highest quality you can find. But Nate’s recent comments on firearms, coupled with him living in SF show how radical he truly is.

    Disappointing quality
Nate Duncan can pretend all he wants that production value and polish don’t matter, but they do. I used to listen a ton because I thought I could push past it, but it’s just not worth it at this point. There’s just too much good media and basketball analysis from elsewhere to spend time on this low-effort, ill-considered product, which is a real shame. It seems that Duncan needs either a better team around him or to re-order some of his priorities.

    Poor Nate
Nate can’t get three words in without getting interrupted. His cohost is either extremely rude or just very socially unaware. Let Nate speak a little man. Especially bad in the PF rating episode.

    A must for basketball junkies
I have been listening for years, and happily followed Nate and Danny behind the paywall. Reviewers who disdain the paywall model should ask their employer for a pay reduction next time they go to work. I mean, fair is fair, right? Live your rhetoric and refuse to be compensated fairly for your work. Silly. In any event, the breadth and depth of the basketball coverage is astounding.

    Got greedy
Used to be my favorite basketball podcast. Loved the insight. But alas, it’s now behind a paywall. Can’t pay that for some simple opinions on the NBA lol. Also listed as a clean pod but some swears are dropped from time to time.

An in dept look at basketball
I was sad about the paywall!! But I’m these times if the guys are going to do things full time.. then they need to be able to support their families.. this is quality content and definitely worth it
  • Ryan184
Not worth paying for one decent episode per week.
It’s too bad that the Hollinger episodes are now behind a paywall. I wouldn’t listen to solo Duncan podcasts if he paid me.

    Great podcast
I was bummed to see these guys switching to a premium model, not because they did it but because the economic realities made it necessary. These are tough times, and as a law student in a big expensive city I'm not at liberty to spare a penny...someday, though. So I'm writing a review to try to help out a bit and repay them for the years of analysis, to let anyone who reads it know that this is a great podcast for people who seriously like basketball in its principles and mechanics, decisions in-game and by staff, and the metrics of analysis used to help us determine what is happening in this fast and fluid game. I know some people seriously like basketball in a different way, they want to hear Stephen A. Smith yelling about who the GOAT is or watch Shaq make fun of some dumb play. That's fine, but this podcast isn't that. Thank god it isn't. They don't fill it with "hot takes" they aren't trying to rile you up with some disingenuous controversial opinion or to insult athletes for cheap amusement. They watch basketball, study it, break down its plays and the players with respect. It's for people who ball and people who are just nerds. I'm a bit of both, and I'll continue listening for a long time.

Great Content; Please God, Fix Your Audio!
Love your pod, one of the best basketball pods around if you want discussion of strategy and not media narratives and soap opera nonsense. However, your audio is often painful to listen to- the levels of the hosts are not balanced, and the eq is really rough. Especially Danny’s mic, there’s a ton of treble and it’s like an ice pick in the ear at times. Not sure if it’s his recording setup but please take a look, it’s distracting at best and takes away from your great content. Thanks for all the content, keep it up - please take care about your production as well!
  • Maddcat
Are we sure they watch basketball?
I'm pretty sure these folks just pull up advanced box score stats and don't watch any games. Some of the takes are just straight up cringe, for anyone who has actually watched teams they're talking about.
  • DWH... holla
Dudes who don’t watch basketball just use silly made up advanced stats to prove an incorrect take

    Five-Star Knowledge, Two-Star Presentation
While I have great appreciation for the type of analysis and reporting this pod offers, it is almost ruined by co-host Danny Leroux’s incredibly annoying voice and mannerisms, which are made all the more cringeworthy by their sharp contrast to founder and host Nate Duncan’s very pleasant voice. Were it not for Leroux, I would, without hesitation, subscribe to the Prime version of this pod. As it is, even once a week is too often to listen to him.

The only better bball podcast is dunc’d on prime
Nate and Danny are two of the smartest bball podcasters out there. The combination of fair analysis and fun show types (love the regrades, 15 in 60, team previews with local journalists, and of course mock offseason/trade deadline are classics). People complain about the premium but they have dropped 310 episodes so far this year and most of them are well over an hour. It’s less than forty cents an episode for hundreds of hours of basketball entertainment. So considering it’s the best bball podcast and there’s more of it than other podcasts, seems only fair to pay a premium for premium products.

    Favorite Sports Podcast.
Great podcast. These guys do an awesome job covering all topics you can think of. All the fun “nerd” statistics, eye test, coaching & player evaluations, salary cap, scouting, game review. No bull you get from “mainstream” sources. These guys do amazing job. Highly recommend
  • StopItSims
    Phenomenal overall basketball coverage
These guys cover ALL angles of NBA basketball & they do it extremely well. Salary cap, free agency, coaching adjustments, roster & front office evaluations. I’ve been listening for 6 years now & couldn’t be more satisfied with the content.

    HATE NUGGETS
To have Curry in the same tier as Jokic for MVP is a stretch. He’s had a hot month but to place him above Embiid even accounting for his missed time is ridiculous. Having Jokic 9th below the likes of Giannis, Doncic, Embiid who have zero playoff resume is crazy. You’re a nuggets skeptic but your reasoning for his ranking and place in the league have no backbone. Clutch player, playoff performer and soon to be MVP. Take that for data.

    Best of luck
Good information dense basketball podcast. I understand why you’re making the change but personally I can’t justify spending that much money on a podcast. Monetization is important but reaching the largest audience possible is more important imo. Best of luck with the change Update a year later- Haven’t missed these guys. Tried listening to a 15 in 60 and I remembered just how painfully boring Nate can make basketball.

    Yikes
Enjoyed Nates work until I started to come across more of his social media interactions and yikes. Taking this podcast and any others featuring Nate out of rotation. While Nate is concerned about the consequences of people who spew hate speech and those that protect them I firmly believe the consequences should just be de-platforming!

Unsubscribed after Nate did a dumb tweet
Life is too short to listen to basketball analysts who can’t even enjoy a filthy dunk without having to be a wet blanket about it. And then Nate just doubled down on his tweet despite getting called out by everyone, including his more-respected NBA peers. For shame, a lot of the analysis is fairly decent

    Pay? Really?
Who would pay to listen to Duncan tell you that every player is terrible? Seriously...this man doesn'tthink any player is very good. Always willing to go negative. What an ego this man has... Go to RealGM Radio. That is a good pod.
  • blargh311
True basketball nerds (in a good way)
I love this show because they dive deep into statistics and game/team breakdowns. It is such a nice break from most NBA coverage which has become more about the “he said what??” drama. This podcast is about games and player performances. If you want something that goes deeper than a lot of numbskull American media, listen.
  • ppsharkey
I listen to a lot of podcasts
And none have more ads that Dunc’d On. Such a money grab! Trying to force you into paying for their subscription. Shameless.

Who knew you could laugh on a geeky NBA pod
Awesome pod and have been listening since Sam Hinkie Sixer days. So many fun moments and your mock FA, mock trade deadlines, mock rookie extensions with the funny “uhhhh he might pick up that option.” Great job and good luck

Moved behind a $10 a month pay wall.
That's literally more than a service like Disney plus...which is more content than these gentleman provide. R.IP Dunc'd ON, it was fun while it lasted.

Are they’re any experts left out there that actually watch games?
Everyone please go to your teams Locked On Podcasts for some legitimate analysis of your team! I’m so tired of random privileged usually white boys calling themselves experts. This just in, reading season totals and talking as if you really watch these teams individually is not expert analysis. Random example: This guy just said the Hawks don’t have enough smart players as if he actually watches their games and has a way to measure that with his trusty season stat totals. Guy probably hadn’t seen even 1 full Hawks game in 2020. I just wasted 10 minutes listening to the most asinine free agent suggestions for my team. Jesus that was bad.
