Solid

A very die hard fan as a host. I am also die hard but not as biased as Matt is. I wish he would be more realistic at times. This basketball team could go 6-5 just as easily as 11-0 down the stretch. I think 7-4 is much more likely. There’s still obvious holes in this team which Matt heavily ignores. Great morale boost if you like to hype MSU up

The Sky is Falling

If you are looking for a moral boost, or a “silver lining” pep talk, go somewhere else. The host is a die hard fan who wears his emotions on his sleeve, much like the rest of us diehards. Although the sky is always falling when we lose a game, we at least learn why msu lost and what the team can do to improve. And man this guy can celebrate when we win. Also, ignore the “too many ads” reviews. There are the right amount of ads to pay for the costs of the show and the ads can easily be skipped. GO GREEN

Stop the constant voice inflection

Great content, but I have to turn up and down the car radio multiple times an episode as he goes from 10 to 100 in his inflection and loudness. A smoother approach would be very welcome. Chill.

Pretty good pod

Matt is quite a chicken little though. Nothing is ever going right. The sky is always falling. Msu is always on the precipice of complete disaster. Have some faith in your teams man! The schtick gets a little old, but it’s msu content and I like to support fellow Spartans.

Great content but…

Love the podcast … strongly recommend that frustration with MSU or coaches not come through as strongly. Post Ohio State basketball game was too strong. Being a fan and watching the Ohio State game was bad enough. Prefer analysis, commentary, insights in a podcast. Expressing disappointment is fine but we don’t tune in to hear the over the top anger. I want to continue listening but let’s get back to it being a productive use of our times to listen … which it almost always is (except this time).

Best host in the biz!

Sheehan is truly fantastic. Reporting and giving analysis as a fan is tough, but Sheehan does it in a silky smooth way. Discovered the podcast before the worst msu football season & most frustrating basketball season of my fanhood, and I listen every day because of the host. That’s how good he is at his job of keeping the listener engaged, informed and relatable.

Proper Host

Sheehan brings the passion that listeners share/want. Not the most analytical guy but makes up for that in football by bringing on guests that are experts in their field whether that be recruiting or X’s and O’s. Basketball analysis could use a little improvement but overall great daily listen to keep you informed and have a couple laughs. For more laughs definitely follow his twitter page.

You get the daily update on anything MSU related. Matt is all over Twitter so you don’t have to be. Matt makes it fun and doesn’t take himself too seriously. For super in depth analysis you might look elsewhere or pay sites.

Good content, but the amount of ads takes away from that content. I shouldn’t have to skip through 1/3 of the podcast just to get to the content

First podcast I listen to each day. All the latest Spartans news plus has guests from time to time. Would like more guests if I had to critique anything. Maybe audio snips of coaching/player statements if possible too.

Perfect for my morning commute

Been listening for years for my morning commute to work. It started with Will then Matt took over. Matt’s peppy attitude and enthusiasm is refreshing. For those saying a “professional” voice needed, go listen to those major networks - you’re all going to get the same old takes and voice. This is why he’s different. He’s comfortable with his own personality and not playing to a script. He’s come a long way from his first episode solo and it’s great seeing him perfect his craft. Matt is him. Keep up the great work.

Listen to this as often as I can. Whenever I hear news I go to Matty Sheehan to get the report and the show stays so up to date and covers everything so well and with great guests while also being really funny and relatable. Guests are typically good. However, the way over the top commercial/ad intros need to go-cringe worthy every time Matt goes to a commercial break.

I used to really enjoy the podcast but recently there is nearly as much advertisements as content. Thank goodness I can fast forward but it comes down to 18 minutes of content in a 30 show. Good for you Matt as I’m certain you’re making some coin off the hard work but let’s not forget where you came from.

Solid , but it would be way more listenable if…

Matt went 30 seconds without saying some combination of “yeah baby”, “oh yeah, “that’s right”, “that’s right baby” or “baby”. Matt’s a good guy and the content is good, but the verbal crutches get way too repetitive. Go Green

Great podcast, Matt is doing an awesome job and I love the sense of community he brings to the podcast. I became hooked during early COVID when they were talking about nothing in particular because it was community during a non-community time. And now that sports are back I’ve never been more into the season and knowledgeable of the players purely because of this show.

Host Change

I was disappointed when Wil left the show and was honestly concerned since he was the one keeping the shows reasonable and on track. That said, Matt has done an excellent job since and has had some great interviews. If he keeps it up this show will be as insightful and entertaining as it gets from a locked on podcast. I’m curious to see what he does throughout the season since it really is tough to do a show solo, but like I said he has more than managed so far.

I’m not even a Mich St fan. I honestly have watched maybe 5 games with them. But the tweet from Matt Coghlin was so great that I had to check this out. Turns out these are some great dudes and gave me a solid hour of listening material to get me through the college football offseason.

Real Fans

These guys are real diehard MSU fans and offer up daily MSU sports content, not easy these days. It’s like having a couple of buds in the car talking sports while you drive. Not always the most polished production, but they’re constantly getting better and they make it work. Thanks for the podcast. Update: idk if you read these, but you guys say stuff “absolutely slaps” way too much. Super cringe every time.

Liked it when it was just Wil. He brings great insight and does a nice job explaining the “why” and “how” logically. He also brings the professionalism I’ve come to expect from other Locked-On network shows. Matt really brings the “random-guy-at-the-bar-who-won’t-stop-talking-to-you” energy.
