    American girl who loves ABS!
I found ABS last year while walking through a season on infertility. It has been the greatest comfort to listen weekly and so informational! We have nothing like this in the states, Sophie is truly a gift to the world! Thank you for all you do!

    Best birth podcast
I am an American listener who also happens to be a mom and physician. I have listened to countless episodes and I love it for so many reasons. Sophie’s empathetic and detail oriented interviewing style is truly exceptional and I learn so much both personally and professionally and I feel it has made me a better provider. I recommend this podcast to all my pregnant friends

    Best interviews ever
I’ve listened to ALLLL the birth podcasts and Sophie is by far the best interviewer/host out of all of them! She is so respectful and so interested at the same time. She has a gift of asking just the right questions and prompting the guests to tell their stories in such an interesting way!

    My favourite
I love this podcast so much. Sophie is such a lovely host. I gave birth to 2 beautiful girls between 2020 and 2022 and at the moment, I am studying pre and postnatal yoga. Listening to this podcast reignites my love for birth and supporting people in pregnancy and postpartum every time I listen to an episode. It’s such a wonderful resource, as well. Keep it up, Soph - you’re doing a wonderful thing bringing these amazing stories to us, and you do it so well.

    This podcast is everything!!
I could (and do!) listen to Sophie and the ABS podcast all day. I love the variety in birthing and postpartum stories. Hearing the good and bad is my own way of practically preparing for labor again. Sophie is so gentle with all her guests and asks the important questions. This show is a beautiful representation that we’re all in this motherhood journey together - our struggles and victories should be shared more and celebrated. Thank you so much for creating this wonderful story-telling, and often healing platform for mamas.

I live in the States & this is hands down my most favorite podcast. There is so much to learn from women telling their stories, and Sophie is the perfect interviewer/host/wise woman to do it. This show is a gift to women everywhere. Sophie, I can’t thank you enough!

This is such a beautiful, educational show. I’m hoping to start a family in the next year or two, and listening to this show opens my mind to all the things that can happen around pregnancy and birth as well as the practices and options you can do to be as prepared and supported as possible. Thanks to all the women that share their stories.

Best pod for expecting moms. I would continue listening even if I wasn’t expecting my second. Something about the Aussie accent is so calming haha.

Thank you for all you do! I have a small request. I see only one story involving a TFMR. Maybe I’m missing the others. I would love to hear more about this topic and Women who have conceived post this experience! thank you!

The Most Educational Tool During My Pregnancy
I found this podcast - it was referenced in one of the books I was reading during pregnancy - and my husband and I quickly started listening to EVERY episode. Whenever we were in the car, it was all we wanted to listen to. We tried to get pregnant for 21 months. After three failed IUIs and one successful round of IVF, it finally happened! I had been so focused on “getting pregnant” I had given no thought to the actual “birth” portion of what happens. This podcast helped me learn of options and techniques I did not even know existed, as well as just feeling more prepared about all the things that could happen during birth. It made me feel empowered to form my ideal birth plan, albeit it also taught me to hold it lightly - because things do not always go according to plan. I couldn’t gush and sat enough about this podcast. I recommend to anyone who will listen to me, but especially any expecting first time moms should listen.

    Phenomenal and ground breaking!
I’m a mom of two who are 8 years apart, I found this after looking for teresa Palmers/A Zen mama podcast. I’m only a few moments in and the tough topics we don’t like to speak about are being spoke about, I have ptsd and going through childbirth was very traumatic the first time around. So with them discussing the nitty gritty is really something I haven’t found yet. I genuinely love this podcast and I’m now in for the long haul! So informative and so raw, your in for a real treat!

If you are genuinely interested not only in the birth stories of your mothers but in their lives and how they got to where they are. You are an incredibly good listener and a wonderful interviewer. Your podcast is the best way to learn about birth. I love it. I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy.

I have learned so much from this podcast! I had 3 kids in 3.5 years and this has been something I look forward to every week even after giving birth. Makes me want to move to AUS as I live in the US :) and Sophie is the best host, thank you for sharing so much truth, knowledge and a place for women to share their stories which is a very healing process after giving birth.

    Calming and Informational
I am able to gain a good sense of what a birth experience can be like in all its variety, as well as hear their experiences and concerns that I also resonate with. My husband also listens along and enjoys each episode!

    From the States listener
I have been listening to Australia Birth Stories for the past 2 years, and I can’t stop! I’m from California and now a transplant in Chicago. I am always so fascinated with the way Sophie hosts her show and all the amazing guests she has. I am just now trying for my first pregnancy and I already feel so confident in the journey ahead of me with the knowledge I have gained from this podcast! I already know my birth plan and know some of the things to be prepared for from listening to all the different birthing stories! Thank you Sophie and all the women interviewed for giving me the strength and confidence to start my own birthing story! I joke with my husband that wish I was in Australia having a baby because I feel like I’m going to be using all the Aussie terms now! Haha. Thanks again Sophie! I highly recommend this podcast for any women, pregnant, or trying, or maybe not even to give it a listen! So good! Camryn B.

Beautiful Stories for All Women (and men) to Hear
I’m not even pregnant, a mom, or Australian, and I absolutely love listening to this podcast. I discovered it when I wanted to hear Riley and Elayna’s birth story for Lenny and was hooked ever since. The stories are beautiful, vulnerable, and informative. I’ve learned so much from a medical/physical standpoint, and truly admired these women’s strength through pain and loss. Also learning about a foreign healthcare system has been fascinating.
  • Hewhite149
    MUST LISTEN for pregnant Mamas!
I have binge-listened to this podcast for two pregnancies now and I truly believe the stories of other women birthing and the resources they’ve shared helped me immensely in my first home birth, and now as I prepare for my second! If I had to choose one podcast to listen to forever, this would be it.
  • CarolineDoula
    Best birth podcast
I am a doula and I absolutely love hearing these stories! The host does a beautiful job of listening and there is never judgement or criticism- just a story the way it happened. Just a warning- this podcast is addicting!! I can listen to them back to back to back!

    Amazing learning resource and stories
I’ve had two empowering vaginal unmedicated deliveries and I still learn plenty of things from the stories on this podcast that I wish I had know about, thought to ask, or advocated for during my pregnancies and births. Even as someone who lives in the US, where the medical system is rather different, I’ve learned so much that could be implemented here. Sophie does a lovely job of gently holding space for others to tell their stories and I appreciate that she seeks to represent a range of birth experiences and choices. I recommend this podcast to all my friends who are pregnant!

    Grandmas like these too!
When you’ve had a child struggle to get pregnant, and IVF saved the day, all of these podcasts are so inspiring. We have twin grandchildren, a boy and a girl, thanks to IVF. I went through the most lonely, primitive labor 41 years ago in a rural area and doctors knew so little about patient care. I marvel at the differences. Fortunately had I read a lot & after13 hours of transition labor I used my voice and demanded to see the one OB in the area. He tried to get me to have a natural no drug birth, but after an emergency C-section I was later told my daughter’s head never engaged in the pelvis to come out. No ultra sound, nothing - seems so primitive. I’m so glad so much progress in birthing has been made.

    A fabulous resource!
I adore this podcast. I found it this past year and have been trying not to binge so that I can pay attention to the specific birth stories of each of these women. I have not had children but would like to someday, so listening to these stories feels like an invaluable education!

    Insightful and inspiring
Being a 23 year old male, childbirth isn’t something I’ve thought about extensively. This show allowed a new perspective for me to take on the subject, and actually inspired me to learn more. Such an awesome idea, and very well executed.

    Poignant, Powerful, Heart-warming
Episode 52 was a rough one for me. 3 years ago, my wife gave birth to premature boy/girl twins. The first was normally, naturally, the second via c-section after he got tied up with the tube around his neck. I then spent the next four hours alone in the Nic-U nudging him to breath as he had complications. Here we are 3 years later and everything is great and mom and kids are healthy, but man, that was one of the scariest experiences of my life. Hearing these stories on the podcast really helps to normalize the experience, as well as provide healing. Great stuff!
  • Woj712
    Great Host and Great Stories
I love the way that the birth stories are told all the way through, not just ending at delivery, but also through postpartum and current day. I may not be Australian, but childbirth and the journey to motherhood are universal experiences that are relatable regardless of nationality. I also love how Sophie is able to gently guide the stories. She is wonderful and I would highly recommend this podcast to any parents, parents to be, medical professionals, or any other individuals interested in the topic itself.

    Love This Podcast
This is a wonderful podcast for women in any stage of pregnancy or motherhood. I love the space Sophie creates for the moms to be comfortable be open and honest and a lot of the time super funny. Listening to these stories feels like a conversation between friends, Sophie listens without judgement and is so supportive. The episode with the mom who had antenatal depression was a great example of how you can feel Sophie’s heart through these conversations. It’s such a tough topic that we don’t talk about nearly enough. Thank you for doing this work Sophie!!! Ulla the Doula
