doubtingtomjrOne of a kindThis isn’t a podcast that discusses plots or whether Wombat Man can beat up the Green Aardvark. Before this show I didn’t understand the coloring process, or what French curves were, or how cross hatching works. If this is your jam, this is the only game in town.

Swooney ToddThe boys are killing it.One part nostalgia mixed with two parts hardcore analysis. If you remember watching Julia Child cooking with the overhead camera directly pointed at the simmering pot on the stove you will love it. The interviews are great ( they do let the guests wander a bit much with self serving bloviation ). Get on this train before Jim and Ed become the next Siskel & Ebert.

College Student Loves This AppDone with them as creatorsThe podcast is unlistenable. Half of each episode is them doing promos, as if the people listening aren’t already buying them comics and need a daily reminder. The manner in which listeners are bombarded with constant repeated promos is beyond obnoxious. I supported their work but not only am I unsubscribing from this podcast I am canceling my preorders for their books. “Paying the bills” directly led to me NOT supporting them, so maybe they should consider that when absolutely destroying a mood with their horrific commercialism. Cannot listen. These guys are beyond clueless.

Official Apple Podcast ReviewsBest comics podcast outNo geek talk, just real stuff

AudioConsumerThe best comics podcast there isToo often in comics there is the tendency to focus on characters as if they are real. “And then Batman was going through hard times because Robin was killed and...” Cartoonist Kayfabe cuts through that B.S. and keeps the focus on what is it important: the creators, the craft and the real world history. In the year of listening (and watching the show on YouTube) I’ve learned an immense amount about comic book craft, how to approach comics, about the landscape of the comics industry of the early 90s, including the birth of Image comics, and got to hear invaluable insight from great creators about other great creators. Check this podcast y’all!

killyrcomicsBest EverLiterally my favorite new thing. Any comic fan who grew up in the 90s or is interested in comic book history needs to listen. Jim and Ed know their stuff and are so much fun to listen to. Best podcast ever!

Cosmic LionBetter than a Spawn #1 in the 90s!There has never been a podcast, mine included, that has its finger on the pulse of the comic book nerd more than this one. Two comic masters so steeped in comics history have never gotten together like this before. As they say, they have bottled the magic that happens on long car rides between two friends talking deeply about all there is to love about comics. Wizard Magazine is just a conduit, it's just a framework, a launching pad for these two comicologists to show the world that comics are the greatest art form ever! Love every second!

Dr ddonkeyEd keeps it rock hard.Dope fits, really respectable jerk off foley, Christmas stories. Really everything you could want except Ben mera. Hands down the best wizard magazine recap podcast. No one else is close really. No cap cartoonist Kong’s!
-
Nate McDonoughHighly AddictiveBest possible comics podcast premise with the best possible duo. Wizard Magazine and the 90s comics scene in general may have been characterized by their sustained growing pains but Cartoonist Kayfabe starts off A-1.

artronautBAMF!Learn about some sweet backstories in comics history and review key back issues/magazines with award-winning cartoonists Ed Piskor (Hip Hop Family Tree & X-Men Grand Design) and Jim Rugg (Street Angel). This podcast is one of the few presented from the standpoint of the professional comic artist/comic aficionado combo and is full of little-known awesomeness. Subscribe for expert-level comics badassery and nostalgia overload!
