You Might Know Her From

60

You Might Know Her From is an interview podcast and living piece of art. Hosted by comedians and best friends, Damian Bellino and Anne Rodeman, the show centers the stories of women and non-cis figures in entertainment. Bridging anthropology and comedy, this project seeks to preserve these (often never before heard) stories with irreverence and panache.

“You’re giving an expression that says ‘mas o menos’?”
The above is an approximation of a quote from their interview with Deidre Godwin. I don’t remember the context, but I do remember it made me laugh….really hard. As someone who spends a great deal of time trying to fall asleep, I listen to a lot of podcasts. This is probably my favorite. Anne and Damien are truly masterful interviewers. They take something that seems niche form the outside and make it accessible to all, through lots of preparation and respect for their guests. They ask both stupid and profound questions that no one else is asking. Even if you don’t know the actress they are interviewing, well, that’s kind of the point. You might know her from….

    Love it!
Love this show and all of the “deep cuts” in pop culture. Would love it if you had the opportunity to interview Kelly Bishop!

Such smart interviews and enjoyable banter
Hosts Anne and Damian conduct interviews that are more like intimate conversations. They introduce us to familiar and well-respected actors (all female, hence the name of the podcast), and elicit stories as if they’re all old friends reminiscing. Their research and deep dives are exemplary. There’s no fluff, no pretension, no sponsors’ ads — just Anne, Damian, and their honored guest pulling us close and giving us the backstory we didn’t know we needed.

    Love this podcast
Damian and Anne have the best chemistry and they bring you along on a pop-culture journey full of comedy. I dare you not to laugh along with them. They also do their research and deep dive into their guests’ history in order to ask the questions we all want the answers to. I love getting to learn about the women and non-cis figures they interview who all have interesting stories to tell.

A wealth of yummy pop culture stories and references
These two know their stuff and do the research, which allows them to ask more unexpected and niche questions in their interviews. Can’t wait to listen to more eps!

    My favorite pod
I am obsessed with YMKHF. Damien and Anne are incredible hosts and ask the most thrilling questions of their guests. I love niche pop culture and especially character actresses, so this show is perfect in my eyes. The only thing is I wish it were weekly like it was before, but I get it. I binged all the episodes last year and have been an avid monthly listener since. They always ask the question I want to know the answer to, and I walk away with a new perspective on the actors they interview. Bravo babes!! Suggestions: Mackenzie Davis, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Sarah Goldberg, Vanessa Lengies, Sophie Thompson ❤️

    Great hosts, Great Guests
I found You Might Know Her From through The Mixed Reviews and they quickly joined them as one of my favorite podcasts. The interviews with these actresses and non-binary performers are incredible. It’s always such a delight hearing an interviewee gush about the research that Anne and Damian do and the prep work they put in. Your interviews always brighten up my day and even when you have a guest I think I’m not all that interested in I always wind up coming away with a new appreciation for them when it’s over. Also a big fan of the Body Talk! Much love, The St. Louis Cleopatra

    Glorious Rabbit Hole
This show is amazing. I found it while looking for info about one actress they’d interviewed, and have since gone down a glorious rabbit hole of actresses I knew about, and many more mentioned on this show who I now adore. The interviews are smart and funny, and done from a place of fandom and enthusiasm, but with a tremendous amount of research, too. Damien and Anne also do a great job connecting the dots, not only between their guests, but to the history of film and theatre.

    Important!
I’ve been listening to You Might Know Her From for a few months. At first I loved it because it was fun and entertaining. I’ve grown to realize it is an important contemporary archive about the craft of acting. Damian and Anne conduct well researched interviews with people who are interested in talking about their process. But make no mistake it’s still fun!

I love this podcast! (Jessica Wild voice)
I’ve been listening to Damian and Anne since the first ep and love it (and them) more with each new installment. They ask such creative, fun and thoughtful questions of each fascinating guest, and I find myself looking forward to their own pre- and post-show banter as much as I do the interviews. I can’t praise them or the show highly enough—I am also so glad when a new episode drops. Here’s hoping we’ll be celebrating the show and you two for years to come.

    Great podcast
You Might Know Her From is a wonderful podcast - the hosts are intelligent, funny, and have a lovely rapport. Their guests feel at home with them instantly, making the listening experience both valuably informative but also (for lack of a better term) cozy. There is something great about the seriousness they give to the performers who have defined some of our favorite work. Keep up the great work!

That magic mix of playful repartee and reverence for the craft
Each episode has me laughing, intrigued, and reminded of Hollywood and Broadway magic. Anne and Damian do their R&D, each conversation is simultaneously deep and irreverent. Utterly delightful!

This podcast is why they invented podcasting!
I was suggested YMKHF by a friend about 10 months ago. I couldn’t believe the array of featured guests that I’d always wanted to know more about. After diving into the archives, I became a regular listener. Damian and Anne are phenomenal hosts with witty banter, appealing voices, and love for what they do that emanates out of the podcast app and into my heart. Favorite episodes include Adina Porter and Elisa Donavan. Also, it must be said that some of my favorite episodes are actresses I didn’t know prior to the podcast. Of course it rings a bell when they remind me where I might know her from! I highly recommend this podcast if you are a movie, tv or theatre enthusiast and also if you simply like to hear interesting stories from fascinating and relatable individuals. Five stars Damian and Anne! Keep ‘em coming - please!

    Queer legends!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Anne and Damian have candid and hilarious chats with actresses but I keep coming back for their easy banter. More body talk! Some fave eps: Constance Marie, Lori Petty, Heather Matarazzo, and Sakina Jaffrey. These women have incredible behind the scenes stories that the hosts are able to tease out. Been spending quarantine making my way through the archives.

    Can’t Stop
This podcast is what I look forward to every day. I’ve slowed down to one a day because I don’t want them to end. Having you two in my ear is the highlight of my day. This podcast is really helping me get through tough days. I love the interviews. I’ve never been so impressed with hosts being so educated. It’s so refreshing see how much you two care about who you have on. I now have a giant list of movies to watch and have learned about so many shows that I would not have known about being out of the city. My favorite part is always you two chatting. I can’t get enough body talk. I could listen to you two talk about anything and it would always bring a smile to my face and a loud cackle out of my mouth. MORE. BODY. TALK.

    Great Chats, keep more in!
I really enjoy the show! Love to hear about all these fabulous working actors’ careers, and I really enjoy the rapport between the hosts at the beginning. My only complaint is that they seem to edit down the conversation in the interest of keeping things brief to the point where it feels like they’re never responding to what the actor says… So it feels kind of awkward like she just divulged her life secrets and they’re like “cool moving on…” i’ll keep listening if it runs over an hour!

    A Wonderful Gem!
I LOVE this podcast. The hosts are charming, funny and knowledgable. The conversations with the iconic guests are always interesting and entertaining. I hope more people can find this experience and delight in its magic. It's really worth it! In the next few years you'll see Damian and Anne thriving in more ways and think to yourself, I knew them from!

    A great/entertaining podcast
This podcast hosted by Anne Rodeman and Damian Bellino is one of a few that are part of My subscriptions. I absolutely love listening to this friendship and the interviews they have with women in the entertainment industry. There are tidbits you never hear before from this talented catalog of interviewees. Telling their stories, struggles, etc. is not only interesting and entertaining for Us listeners but inspiring and insightful for others in the business. The research Anne & Damian bring to the interview is outstanding and (as you hear in the interviews) are very impressive to the guests.

So full disclosure, RodemAnne is my sister. But I love this podcast because it has opened me to so much about entertainment, the importance of hearing friendship every week on full display between Damian and Anne has been a delight, especially this year of the pandemic. And the guest list is consistently amazing. Here’s hoping for continued conversations with actresses of a certain age and more body talk folks.
