    Step-Sibling Actors Never Sounded Better
I was a fan of Step By Step back when it first aired on ABC. I used to watch it on the regular. And then, one day very recently, while sick in bed, I found it on Max and watched the whole series all over again. A quick Google search turned up the Deja Vu podcast, and when I found out it existed, I binged it as well. It’s easy to look at Step By Step as a goofy comedy because it is clearly a goofy comedy. However, Step By Step offered catharsis for a kid going through the blended family situation while this show was airing. It forced me to take an empathetic look at my familial situation through the eyes of characters like Carol, the matriarch who reminds me very much of my stepmother. Let’s say there was a lot of culture shock coming into a blended family. So, while the goofy sitcom did permeate Step By Step, it wasn’t my general takeaway from the show. What appeals to me about this podcast is Keanan and Lakin’s approach to narrative. Each podcast episode contains a thoughtful and sometimes brutal recap of a Step By Step episode, followed by banter, with some of it quite candid. Having grown up with the actors and their characters (I’m only slightly younger than Lakin), it’s good to know that I’m not the only one who faced the world in such a way. And I absolutely appreciate that about Deja Vu. The fact that Deja Vu is also focused on Step By Step is simply a bonus. I know this is a podcast review, not a novel, so I’ll sum it up. I appreciate this podcast for what it is: an observation of a show that poked fun at the human condition. And what’s enjoyable here is the behind-the-scenes look at that and the real-world lives of the actors who lived it. I hope this podcast finds a way to continue past the 160 episodes somehow. But even if it lasts as long as the series did, it’s well worth the time. Enjoy!

    Love it!!!
I loved the show the first time around on TGIF and I’m loving the podcast. Heard about it on our favorite true crime podcast True Crime Obsessed. Not only is the podcast great your voices are soothing. I’ve listened through several times while working/driving because you’re both so pleasant to listen to.

    Not having Deja vu
When I found this podcast I was hoping for more behind the scene nostalgic stories about working on Step By Step, but it seems like the hosts want to talk about everything else instead. I was excited about the guests such as Patrick Duffy, but the majority of the episode focused on his time on a different tv series. That fine Josh Byrne is into larping now, but why wouldn’t they have prepared more questions about the show to ask him? Such a letdown and missed opportunities. Step by step is the side character on this pod.

    Love the show and podcast!
Watched the show as a kid in the 90s and loved it back then and still love it as an adult so I was excited to hear there was a podcast. It’s been sooo good I love both of them and their crazy stories. It’s also interesting to hear how Stacy has never seen the show before this and her perspective of it now. Five stars all the way! hope it continues 😁

Step by step - and a producer
As someone who grew up with tgif I was pumped to listen to this rewatch podcast. Big fan of Christine and Staci. But I end up fast forwarding through half the podcast. 1) they talk about fashion. I have no desire to hear fashion 2) now for some reason there’s a producer chiming in at random times. Why?? What does the producer have to do with the REWATCH. Every now and then is fine but his random opinions are terrible. They’ve turned the fashion part down a little to where it’s tolerable but now with the random chime ins by the producer it’s really terrible. I’ll listen to it because I liked the show and still like Christine and Staci and their opinions but it’s always at the bottom of importance because of these two things

    Season 2 ep 10
The recap of the episode was great. But when you started talking about being chaste, I got confused as to why you are so confused. Why do you not know what it means to be chaste? What’s wrong with being a virgin? What’s wrong with upholding high moral standards? Why do you think morality is dirty? Promiscuity is the cause of AIDS spreading. Why do you put down the morality of this show? Show writers today seem to think the way you do because the shows quickly progress to activities which many viewers find amoral. Please stop demoralizing this show. Many of us have pleasant memories if this show and you are ruining it.

    Eh, actually not good
I have tried but this show is a mess. The recaps really did no insight except they talk about what they and the viewer show. The stories and banter after is just, boring

    The best 90s Podcast!
Finally!! I keep getting soo excited everytime I see 90s recap/nostalgia podcasts but I’m sadly disappointed with the hosts. Staci and Christine are perfect I love the recaps but I LOVE their conversations and memories from that time. My new favorite podcast!

    206 ?
Yo what’s up with season 2 episode 6? There is no sound at all, just over an hour of nothing. Love the podcast but how did someone not catch this?

    It’s mid
See I love step by step. I just watched season one episode four the recap. And I had to re-listen to it because I thought I missed it. They do not recap the whole episodes anymore. They just talk about the fashion and other weird things behind the scenes. I don’t know if I’m just used to the how rude Tanneritos podcast. But this just isn’t it for me. The first couple episodes were great, but then it just went kinda downhill. I’d like to give it a five but I can’t.

    This podcast rules!
Staci Keanan and Christine Lakin are doing a great job so far giving us deja vu and recapping every episode of “Step By Step” in order. Hopefully, they’ll bring in more guests from the show onto the podcast for their time working on “Step By Step”. But in the meantime, it can wait.

    Love the. Show!
I love listening to their stories and insights into the show. I’m so glad they decided to do season 2!

    Loving the nostalgia!
I grew up watching step by step and I’m so grateful to these two fabulous women and their producer for taking time out of their busy lives to give us this special gift😊

    Why did I wait?
Great show. Hearing about the fun as well as the perspectives we never knew about is oddly heeling to some of us who grew up with the show. Looking forward to hearing season 2!

    Can’t Wednesday Without It
Genuinely obsessed with this podcast and before I knew it I jumped ahead and watched five seasons of Step by Step. What a blast to revisit the show 30 years later. Christine and Stacy are hilarious, thoughtful, poignant, and have chef’s kiss chemistry. Anyone who grew up in the 90s and watched the show needs this podcast. The gap between season 1 and 2 is going to kill me.

    Feeding my need for nostalgia
Step by Step was one of my favorite shows growing up and I’ve enjoyed watching it again. As someone who loves learning interesting facts from behind the scenes, this is both a fun trip down memory lane but also scratches that itch for knowing how the sausage gets made. Love your breakdowns, and that you share a lot of the same thoughts watching it back!

I love this podcast so much!
I feel like I’ve run into old friends and we are reliving the good ole days!!! We all got to know “Al and Dana,” but now I feel like we are getting to know “Keanan and Lakin,” too and I love it! Can’t wait for season two… 😁

    Love this podcast!
The podcast I didn’t know I needed. I love Keanan and Lakin’s friendship and hearing their stories about 90s Hollywood and set life. I find myself smiling and laughing through episodes. Great mood booster! I look forward to it every week.

    Too much wardrobe talk?
First, let me say I enjoyed “Step By Step” in its original run. I also find Keenan and Lakin to be very likable today as podcast hosts. However, from my perspective there is a problem with the podcast. Do you realize that 60% - 70% of each podcast is about the wardrobe of the characters? During your recaps, virtually every time a character enters, you give a complete synopsis of what they are wearing (head to toe) and wether or not it would be fashionable today. Other recap podcasts do not do this to nearly this extent. It almost seems like this is supposed to be a fashion podcast disguised as a recap podcast. I understand that some mention of the costumes is expected, but it is easily 60% - 70% of your total content. It’s far too much, in my opinion. I want to hear about your experiences on set, your memories of that era in your lives, your opinion of the jokes, the plot lines, the guest stars, and how all of that looks from a 2024+ perspective. I don’t really care if a character wore jean shorts that would be out of fashion because they were rolled up instead of cut. I admit I’m only on Episode 5, so perhaps this problem improves over time, but so far there’s just been entirely too much wardrobe talk. Sorry I couldn’t give you five stars. I really wanted to.

    Season 2 let’s go!!!
I absolutely love this podcast! It’s so fun to get the inside scoop on one of my favorite sitcoms from the lovely Christine and Stacy! Season 2 of the podcast would be incredible. I would love to hear from Angela Watson about her favorite Karen looks from the show!

Finally, a good podcast about one of my favorite shows!
I’m glad these ladies decided to do a Step by Step recap podcast! A lot like Andrea Barber and Jodie Sweetin’s recap of Full House. Looking forward to hearing more.

A fun trip into the past
I’m enjoying this podcast. But more for the stories and insight into the era than the episode recaps. The recaps are cool. Don’t get me wrong. But it’s cool hearing what life as a young actor in LA was like in the 90’s. It connects with me personally since I lived in LA and worked in the industry from 2005-2020. I really enjoy all stories and memories they share of their experiences during those days. Another thing that really helps put this podcast over is the natural chemistry between the two hosts. You can tell they are legit friends who enjoy being around each other and are having a blast doing this. Looking forward to more. EDIT: Please don’t let the producer guy chime in. No one knows or cares who he is. Nor is anyone listening to get his opinion on literally anything. Stay behind the scenes, dude.

    Great memories
Loved the show - I’d watch this show when I was grounded on Friday nights lol. It’s nice to revisit these old friends haha!

    Love it
I haven’t watched Step by Step in years and years. I generally enjoy this podcast, the BTS they give and love that they created a theme song. However, they seem to go through the recap portion somewhat quickly then they go off onto tangents quasi related to what happened in the episode which gets kind of tiresome.

    Love it
I love the show and the pod. I’m almost finished binge watching the show, waiting to hear recaps from my favorite episodes!! Thank you so much the trip down nostalgia lane

    I love this but….
I have been looking for a step-by-step recap pod for so long, and this is perfect! These two are really good at delivering the wise cracks😃. But one thing. I just listened to episode 4, and I was very surprised. Most episodes are fine and they say almost all the lines, but in that one, (and one or two others) they did a very quick synopsis of the episode and then they started talking about something else. One last thing. The fashion talk. They go off the rails talking about scoop necks and nude heels when most people just want to hear some stories and the episode recap! Nevertheless, it’s still a great podcast so please keep making it.

    Laughs and more laughs!
I just can’t stop laughing while listening to Stacey and Christine go through the rewatch and share their life experiences during the time of the show. Step by Step is one of my top favorite childhood shows. Thank you for doing this podcast.

Starts Great, Falls Off a Cliff
I am a huge fan of step-by-step. The first few episodes of this podcast are great. They go into a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff and stories from on the set while making the show. But unfortunately not long into this run, the show degrades into them just burning through the plot synopsis in five minutes, criticizing all the fashion, and then talking about how the storylines don’t hold up to modern woke sensibilities. It takes all the fun out of watching the show. They offer very little insight into actually making the show itself, which is disappointing, considering they were both there the whole time. Maybe they can turn it around and season two.

Step by step, day by day….
I love this podcast! Keenan and Lakin do an amazing job breaking down the episodes and definitely find a great balance between honoring its legacy and poking fun at the absurdity. I also love their conversations at the end of the episodes. And I can’t forget to mention that the theme song slaps! I never skip it 🤣

Binged and sad but will wait for more.
Omg! I love this podcast. Step by Step was one of my favorite shows on TGIF. I watched it with my parents and sometimes grandparents. What a time warp! I love the outside stories to the show just as much as the content from the show. You’re love of the fashion in the ‘90’s as well as Suzanne’s. It’s like you’re in my head. I binged this entire thing in two days… now I can’t wait, on baited breath for the newest episodes. Love it and you both!! ❤️❤️

    Great podcast!
Why don’t you guys go through these episodes sequentially now?

    Too much fashion talk
Some of these episodes go off the rails dissecting fashion. I can handle some talk but it’s like the whole most recent episode. I had to turn it off.

    super fun and easy listen
i love how much y’all talk about the fashion <3

    Took Me Back
This podcast was suggested to me on, Spotify. I am obsessed!!! I was a 90's kid and watched, TGIF! The theme song is so good. I love the setup of the show. Staci and Christine have great conversations. Really enjoy hearing Staci's thoughts on her first watch.

What a surprise! Déjà vu, Thank you!!
Listened to a few episodes already. I really enjoy this podcast. I grew up watching “STEP BY STEP”; had the biggest crush on Staci Keenan. It was honestly my favorite show on the T.G.I.F. line up. It’s so cool that these two women got together to do this podcast. Hopefully this podcast does video form in the near future. I hope that they reboot “STEP BY STEP” on one of these streaming platforms and let Christine Lakin direct episodes. These ladies have great chemistry. Very cool. Keep going! Peace & Love

Ep by Ep, Week by Week…
Just when I thought I got rewatch podcast fatigue, these two ladies came out with one that is incredibly refreshing! They have a great balance of perspectives (such as when they were starting out on the show, where they are now), they don’t talk over each other constantly, and paint a vivid picture of what the outfits and sets were like for folks who haven’t seen it yet. And you can really tell how fond they are of their TV family, including Grandma and poor Penny. It’s been fun hearing them talk about 90s fashion, Suzanne Somers’ fabulous legs, how cute their little TV brothers are, Urkelmania, their schooling situation as child actors, and coming to the realization of how horny the parents are…I look forward to hearing what they have to say about the rest of the season! Some side notes: I hope they release uncensored versions of the podcast (even if it’s behind a paywall), because Staci is a hoot!

    Gives you Deja vu
It’s a great podcast and it’s great to hear (Stacie) Dana & (Christine) Al talk about their experience and what they remember! Step by Step, was just a fun show and watching it as an adult, I’m seeing a lot more of the innuendoes I missed as a kid. Fun, easy listen.

Full doses of 90s nostalgia & new insight
I’m not normally a “rewatch podcast listener” but I made an exception after the 90s Con & I’m sooo glad I did! I absolutely love listening to Staci & Christine give stories from on set but also how it impacted their lives then & now. It gives so much more depth hearing how being a child/teen actor isn’t always as glamorous as I thought back when we watched the show as teenager myself. They give honest reflections of stuff that was allowed back in the 90’s that simply is no longer acceptable. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PODCAST!!!

    Love Reminiscing
I’m not generally a podcast girl, but when I learned Staci and Christine were doing a Step By Step rewatch, I knew I had to listen. This podcast has become my Wednesday ritual - I watch the tv ep and then listen to the podcast and it’s so much fun hearing them reminisce about their time on the show. All the wardrobe talk and fun facts and bts stories have me completely hooked. I love rewatching a show I loved so much as a kid, but through adult eyes, and then learning so much about how it was made. Staci and Christine are so fun and entertaining and I'm so happy they made this :)
