I discovered this podcast about a year ago and have almost made it through every episode in every season! Such a great podcast with wisdom, inspiration, encouragement and beauty in every episode! Great stories and guests and Stephen’s words are so profound- this podcast is for artists, makers, (even if your art is simply creating a joyful, beautiful, and meaningful life) and all who are interested in the ultimate issues of life, eternity and faith and how they are related to art and beauty.

Makers and Mystics is a treasure! It’s got such rich and varied content, including inspiring interviews with musicians and writers and artists and thinkers of all kinds. It never fails to inspire me with thoughts on art, literature, beauty, and the value of art in our lives. Quite simply, it returns me to a place where I can see the world with wonder again. And that is priceless. No matter how busy my life gets, I always make time for this podcast. Thank you, Stephen Roach!

This podcast has awakened my soul more than any other podcast I’ve listened to. It literally changed my life and fueled me with the inspiration I’ve needed to keep unfolding myself as a new creation as I also unfold the work within me. I’ve been so grateful for this incredibly rich, nourishing food for my soul! Thank you Stephen Roach for your work on this! As a prophetic artist and mystic, when I started listening to this episode I thought, “I found my people!” Listening to this podcast especially during the pandemic has reminded me that I’m not alone and given me the encouragement I need to keep going in my creative work. I love the ways the themes in this podcast intersect the creative and spiritual journeys in ways that doesn’t give easy answers, but invites us into continual questions, depth, and exploration. I have loved all the interviews of working artists and have drawn so much wisdom from their creative process, as well as artist profile series that give me a picture of artists who have made an eternal impact. Drawing from their strength, example, and faithfulness, I feel like I can create with their wind at my back.

Being an artist is amazing but really hard at times too and I’ve needed reminders of how understood I am and how I’m not alone and this podcast really reminds me of that. I love that it touches every kind of art form and from a plethora of artist from all over the place. It challenges, inspires and makes me (in a good way) uncomfortable at times. It’s amazing.

As a Christian artist, these engaging discussions about art and life are exactly what I’ve needed. I feel like every episode I listen to is exactly what I’ve been thinking about expressed insightfully and profoundly. It gives words to my deepest thoughts and questions about being an artist of faith and integrity.

This podcast is like a dose of life, shot straight into the beast. It’s challenging, uplifting and non-traditional ( yet still theologically sound) all at the same time. I am a huge fan.

As an Artist of faith it’s easy to feel alone. The art world may tell you're too religious and the church may tell you you’re too out there. What about the intersection of the two? Can my art and gifts that God gave me work together with the divine? I started listening to this podcast a few years ago and it’s been incredible to both my growth as a maker and a mystic. It helped show me that there are other people out there that have the same thoughts/questions as me and they were having conversations about it right here on the podcast! This podcast helps me to realize the worth and validity of artists in the faith and encourages me to create.

Two things happen every time I listen to Makers and Mystics: I feel inspired to go crete something, and I feel comradery with a faith community of artists. I just discovered this podcast a few weeks ago; as an artist/ writer/ maker I've often if not always felt like the work moves through me not because of me and I'm go grateful I get to do this work. My favorite episodes so far are S6/E6 Adorning the Dark with Andrew Peterson; S6/E5 Moving through the World with Propaganda; S6/E2 with Lauren Midgley (Wonder&Light), the group one live onstage talking about their process and the one with Lanecia Rouse Tinsley.

When I first discovered "Makers and Mystics," it was in its third season. I immediately went back to the beginning and listened to every episode over the span of about a month until I was caught up. Since then, I faithfully listen to every new episode. Stephen Roach has created a fantastic frontier where the unity of art, faith, and community are open for the listener to explore. As a concert pianist and neo-romantic composer who desires to perform and write music like Beethoven, Brahms, and Chopin, the church doesn't always seem like the place to stretch artistically in that direction. "Makers and Mystics" has provided me an outlet to hear what incredibly creative artists across the country are doing to further their artistic and spirtual disciplines. I have also enjoyed connecting to the M&M community on Pateron and have thoroughly enjoyed the bonus content and interactive opportunities.

I love listening to this podcast. It’s inspiring listening to artists who are using their talents and gifts to glorify our Creator. I’ve also learned a lot about authors and artists throughout history. So good!!
