ONLY COLLEGE BASKETBALL PODCAST YOU NEED
You guys rock and add so much to the game. I’m a huge college basketball fan. I feel like im on an island with the opinion that NIL has had no impact on the tournament and the lack of Cinderella teams this year. The vast majority of tournaments there are a few upsets early and then the best teams end up winning. Of course there’s exceptions that we remember but it’s not the norm. I think if anything has impacted the tournament it is how much better teams are seeded these days. This was an outlier year with four clear top teams and they played that way. Any opinions on NILs impact on the tournament or on the future of the tournament with the shift towards mega conferences?

    Fun.
Enjoy boys. Revel in this all…… as I know your doing to the hilt. Rave on. 🤗. Lucky you!!!

    Great Pod
Great Pod, love the content and appreciate all of the content throughout the year, including the offseason. Sorry about your Tigers. Question about Survivor, in one with 57 people left and have used St John’s, Iowa st, Tech, and Maryland. Screwed if Tech/Maryland reach the Ship and the completion is still ongoing. Curious on what your strategy would be. Thanks!

    Weave > Bracket Committee
Please please please replace the current committee. Every year they show they don’t know ball, watch ball, or care about getting the bracket correct. Seeding makes no sense this year, UNC (whaaat), and no West Virginia. Madness should stay on the court this month. Also, even though UNC doesn’t belong, they might make the Sweet Sixteen with the matchups they have.

    Best in the business
Hi boys, found out about you guys from your appearances on the Mark Titus Show a couple years ago and have made your show appointment listening ever since. Love that you guys always show love to the smaller schools - they matter too! Question for y’all, do you have any takeaways from Sprinkle’s first year at UW? I know it’s going to take a few years to build up a competitive program, especially at a school focused on football, but was curious if you’ve seen anything that could give hope for the future. Seattle deserves good hoops again, and being there when they upset Maryland was one of the highlights of my year. Thanks!

    Excellent Podcast!
This podcast is the most informative college basketball podcast around - love how the guys share the attention on low, mid, and high majors throughout the year and make every team feel equally important. Question for y’all: every year, my mom picks a college basketball “boyfriend” who she roots for during the tournament. It started when she felt bad for Gary McGhee getting crossed up by Kemba, and has included players like Matt Stainbrook, Garrick Sherman of all people (he balled out in the 6OT ND game), and most recently DJ Burns. Guy needs to be kind of awkward, maybe a little big, Rec specs preferred but also needs to actually be a good player. What are her prospects for this year? Keep up the good work

    Longshot title odds
Best college basketball podcast around, thanks for the hard work. Who do you guys like right now at 50/1 or longer odds to win it all? Wish I got a little more down on your Mizzou Tigers at 125/1 a month ago. Saw Creighton, Marquette, Illinois and Oregon all at 100/1 this morning. Keep calling out Dan Hurley, I’m rooting for them to miss the tournament as well.

Such an enjoyable listen every week! What is the weave consensus on Anthony Grant? Is it fair to expect a school as funded as Dayton to make the tournament more often despite being in a mid-major league?

    This review is long overdue…
…but thanks to the witty Matt Cox, who sure knows his way to a Cornell grad’s heart…, I couldn’t procrastinate any longer. In fact, I’ve owed you guys a 5+ star review since I started listening back during 2018-2019 season. Perhaps Jim will remember his “Meaning of March” ™️ article, and our subsequent email exchange which I am shocked to learn is now almost 6 years old. I was hooked on the pod back then and been struggling to tell Matt and Ky apart ever since. In all seriousness, I hope you appreciate what a special place you guys have in the CBB landscape. We can all agree on why this sport is the best thing going, and your work on the pod allows for a shared experience that is 2nd to none. I could ramble on with the superlatives, but you guys just “get it” (and this goes for your basketball acumen and camaraderie). You know the game better than anyone, love it more than anyone, and share it with everyone. And for that I am very grateful. Keep up the superb work, and I would welcome the chance to buy a round if you’re ever in the NYC area. Go Big Red 🟥🧸, Go Red Storm 🟥⛈️ In case you’ve made it this far, I am going to sneak in a couple of questions. What’s the ceiling for my beloved Johnnies? And what’s it going to take for the ol’alma mater to finally breakthrough the first round of Ivy Madness? -Mike

    They Know Ball
Love the podcast guys! I’m a longtime listener, and the camaraderie and knowledge y’all share is truly one of a kind. Two (potentially overlapping) questions for you based on if Hubert walks away from the UNC program this spring: 1. If you were the UNC AD, who would be your first 3-5 calls? 2. If you had to make betting odds, who would be the 3-5 favorites to be the UNC head coach on opening night of the 25-26 season? Thanks, and go heels!
  • Bradley Fernandez
    New week, same great pod.
I had to give Ky a nod for the Radiohead mention last week. Now, give me your three favorite Radiohead songs! Mine are Airbag, 15 Step, and Idioteque.

    Best Cbb pod out there
You will not find the same analysis from any other podcast regarding the CBB space and you can tell the hosts are actually friends which makes the flow incredible. Additionally, the burner cord has made me rich in knowledge and money by asking for betting analysis/thoughts on not only p5, but even bottom barrel SWAC teams (looking at you pine bluff). You boys kill it and i look forward to every Thursday!

    Mick’s Master Plan
Do you think Mick Cronin’s tirades against his team are tactical? Hear me out: he hates the transfer culture of modern college athletics. When he goes on his rants calling his players stupid etc., perhaps he’s thinking that will scare away all the “weak, lazy, and spineless” kids from wanting to transfer to UCLA. Instead, kids who want to be challenged and held accountable will want to come play for him. It’s a stretch… but maybe Mick thinks it’s crazy enough that it just might work? Thanks for the awesome show. I’m with Matt in the ranks of young fatherhood, and as a result I haven’t been able to watch as much CBB this season as I’d like. (I’d still love to write you guys some music at some point though, if the opportunity ever arises! @wfsleithart on Twitter)

    Love the show
As a father of a young child I can’t watch as many games as I used to. I love how in-depth y’all get and the banter your friendships bring out. As a former Stetson Hatter, I appreciate how you take the time and cover the small and mid-major teams/conferences. Keep up the good work -Robert

    Review from a KU fan
Hey guys, love the podcast, have listened to every episode since I found you guys doing a best bets show on field of 68 a couple years ago. I have a question that I would love everyone’s answer to, I’m writing as the Jayhawks are losing 40-26 to West Virginia. What is Bill Self’s obsession with playing two bigs (Dickinson and KJ Adams). I understand why it was necessary last year but this year Self could use a lineup of Harris/Mayo/Storr/Griffen/Dickinson and yet he never uses it. Teams can just pack the paint as KJ is not a shooting threat whatsoever, and KJ does not bring nearly enough defensively or on the glass. Is there something you guys think I’m missing? Sorry for the lengthy review, I seriously love the pod and it is my favorite of any sport to listen to. Best of luck to your Mizzou tigers and Indiana Hoosiers the rest of the season!

    Best CBB Podcast Out There
Just like the title says, this is the best CBB podcast on the market. Covers everything from the Blue Bloods to the Patriot League, and is the ideal mix of banter and info. My question for the guys - as a Northwestern fan, it was tough seeing Boo Buie leave for the league, but Martinelli’s growth has been outstanding and Barnhizer has continued to be a fantastic two way threat. Do y’all think it’s enough to get the Cats to a third straight tourney berth?

    Smooth CBB Podcast
If you love College Basketball, this is the #1 podcast. What really makes this podcast worth a listen, is the love for the mid majors - truly unique. Listeners will also get a little comic relief pondering how Matt was ever gainfully employed 🤪! Here’s my dilemma: I’m in need of some serious CBB betting advice. Every year I keep my head above water betting on college and pro football, only to turn around and drown during college basketball. Any betting strategies or tips you would recommend? Thanks!

Best CBB show on the airwaves
Love the show. Obviously two shows a week with Thursday and Saturday best bet show. Have the boys ever thought about adding another in the mix? Know it would be a lot but would love to be blessed twice a week (like Titus), speaking on Mark have you thought about adding him into the mix as a vibes guest every so often? Much like Ky and Jim joining his show, would you all let him make a guest appearance, aside from his discord appearance for the ama? Keep up the great work guys, highlight of my week getting to listen to the guys talk ball. Ps join the discord!

Jim Was Right and Syracuse Basketball Is Dead
First of all, Jim was right about JJ Starling. He is one of the worst defenders I have ever seen and I'm not seeing the strides offensively you'd hope for at this point in his career. Second of all, letting the old man run the program into the ground and then hiring a guy off of his bench to appease said old man has set a once proud program back to a level I didn't think it could fall to. The program has no identity on either end of the court, struggled with defensive concepts that normal high school teams can comprehend and execute, and the roster construction seems to be done without a real plan. I could go on but I'm already ranting enough. I would settle for Matt Langel but I'd love to hear one name each from the Weavers if the move that needs to be made is actually made at the end of hear. Love the show and love the fellas. Thanks for the discourse.

    Excellent Podcast
Listen to every episode, love these guys! I just finished the last episode (I know I’m a week behind…) just wanted to let you guys know since you were concerned with Nelly Davis in the Kansas exhibition, he actually had a little hand injury and had to miss a few weeks of practice. Glad he finally got to emerge last night in the win. Great pod, love you guys!

    Informative and Entertaining
I could spend several minutes effusively praising the 3MW podcast for its extraordinary breadth and depth of college basketball knowledge. I could spend additional time praising Jim, Ky, and Matt for the seemingly effortless and entertaining manner in which they present their vast knowledge. I could further praise the Weave’s detailed team analyses published through the Burner Ball discord. Replete with charts, videos, and graphs, the Crew previews all 364 teams to get you ready for the season. I could share all of this and more, but I would rather let former Pepperdine and current Alabama Wing Guard Houston Mallette do the talking for me. In this year’s annual Blue Ribbon Yearbook, Mallette said this: “It’s called the three-man weave. And pretty much everything basketball related, life-related, goes through them.” Well Houston, I couldn’t have said it better myself!

    Great Show
Really love the show - consistently informative and thoughtful, which is a rarity. Also, I am a Virginia fan, so I’m here to memorialize Coach Bennett… Dark days ahead, hopefully Three Man Weave can see me through them.

    KenPom Over and Under Achievers
Mikey Pot Pie here again, thanks again for the Shoutout, love the Pod, you guys are the best. A group made up of my brothers and a few friends are in a pool, where we pick the standings and player of the year for each Power Conference, and the champions for every other conference in the country. We also have a section where we each draft a team we think will over and underachieve their KenPom rankings, you get points for the amount of spots over or under they finish. The overachieving teams chosen and their respective ranks were Mississippi Valley St (364), SLU (105), Cal (135), Ole Miss (47), and Providence (60). The underachieving teams chosen were Villanova (20), Dayton (27), OU (40), Tennessee (13), and UCF (66). Which teams stand out to you as the best picks for each category, and are there any teams you guys think would’ve been good choices for either category? #3MW4Life
  • DSafetyGuy (How was it taken?)
    Thanks, Gents
Wanted to pick up a national college basketball podcast to become more educated about the game and picked this one. No regrets about that decision. Appreciate last week’s ACC preview podcast, but as a Syracuse fan, just wanted to note it was impressive how you noted their defensive struggles last season without mentioning Chris Bell’s role in them. He’s a terrific three-point shooter, but needs to apply greater effort to his game on both ends of the floor. Keep it up, gentlemen.

Set an alert for The Weave
College hoops fans are fortunate to have these three dishing out their knowledge. While the episode on wishlist rule changes and addendums was entertaining, perhaps the biggest item was overlooked: peel football away from Olympic sports. This would return longstanding rivalries, geographic connections, and conference affiliations that make sense. How was this not the first item on the wishlist? Football has done irreparable damage to college athletics. On the brighter side, you guys are the best, and knowing there’s a new episode in the feed gives us all a little more pep in the step. Thanks again, crew.
  • HooDrummer
    College eligibility idea
I believe an undefeated season in CBB is 40 games, so what if a player’s eligibility is for 160 games rather than calculated by academic years? Would do away with medical redshirts, Tony Bennett big man red shirts, Covid waivers, etc. Thoughts?
  • CJ Easterday
    Who is Trilly Donovan?
Considering your newfound partnership with Trilly Donovan, is it safe to assume that you know the hidden identity? If so, how much money do I have to send you to get the name. Otherwise, the podcast rules. No notes.

    Best podcast ever
You guys are the best podcast ever (not just limiting you to the cbb ranks) That aside, may I place a “board bet” with you guys. I would like to wager that 2 of Butler, DePaul, and Georgetown finish above Nova next year in the Big East final standings.
  • RyanBookie
    The Best
Great as always, you guys help make the offseason better. Huge Towson fan, how good do you think this years team fares in the Coastal? They bring back their top four scorers in league that (feels like ?) lost a lot.

Best college basketball podcast.. Please don’t do away with the almanac. I’m not going to discord.
  • brewcity77
If you only listen to one CBB pod, this should be it
No one provides a greater depth of quality content mixed with the breadth of college basketball knowledge from the highest of high majors to the spunkiest low majors. I'm grateful the Weave exists. Your old previews formed the bones The Almanac was built on (and were honestly better researched, but alas...), the roster tool is a must have for any fan trying to keep up with the portal, and they are the most responsive of the major pods. Keep up the great work, gentlemen, and thanks for all you do!

    Bias taking over
Been listening to the pod for three years. Bias against coaches and programs is coming off too strong on the recaps and it’s disappointing. Used to be a must listen show for me but will be few and far between going forward.
  • Jake the Juliet
Great pod no idea how they remember all these players
Super in depth, love how knowledgable they are. No clue how they remember and throw out all these names. Like there are thousands of coaches and players in D1 and do you really actually know all these people?? No way they deserve less than 5 stars for their dedication to cover this massive sport and not just hit the P5. But wierdly I find myself wanting a bit more unhinged bias takes, more making fun of programs for being bad, clowning coaches for being weird, stuff like that. Too much objective analysis!

    Zags protecting the galactic republic
Happy May the 4th. Should the Zags receive an honorary NCAA championship trophy for helping stop the droid attack on the Wookiees? For reference, Axel Dench a forward from our 1999 Elite 8 team, played as wookie chieftain Merumeru who led the defense of Kashyyyk. Thank you and keep up the great work!

    Simas, good player?!
Great pod boys! Mainly for Jim/Ky here, since Matt’s been a fan… but have you guys come around on Simas being a good player? After having some to recover from being hit by a literal car mid-season, he found some consistency and closed the year on a tear. Think he’ll be vital piece for the Bearcats next year.
  • S Tier Podcast
    S Tier CBB Podcast
Long-time listener, who has nothing but positive things to say about this fantastic trio. I can’t think of another college basketball podcast that perfectly intertwines Power conference discussion with mid and low major analysis. My favorite hour to hour and a half each week. Two questions: 1) Would you consider bringing the best bets podcast back during the regular season behind a paid platform a la Patreon? 2) Despite Jim’s awful take that Dallas > Houston, I wonder what you three think about the impact of location in player recruitment? In the modern age, especially with NIL, feels like the city/location of the university is a non factors for most players.
  • Blue Gator Fan
    Jim confused about Duke
For Jim to say Duke had “no fun” or was “soulless” this season shows how little he watched Duke. Did you never see Jared McCain grinning ear to ear and giving interviews? The story is how McCain became the soul of this team and made it fun. Sure we expect an upperclassman to do that but that’s the uniqueness of this story. You missed it Jim. Just like most of the media missed Duke surviving upset bids in Week 1 & making the Elite 8.
  • Yhiflxnsjsknedbsk
    Two Parter
    1) Although I generally agree with your last point about wanting to see the best teams make the final four, some of the most iconic games/teams were not considered the best teams but still great memories. Nova over Georgetown, NC State over Houston, Fab Five, Melo’s Syracuse, Hayward Butler, etc. Do you think we’re biased to the past or our childhood memories? Are we jaded towards lower seeds due to being locked in the whole season? 2) Bill Simmons says women’s ball is better then men’s because of continuity, the players staying longer so they improve, more time for rivalries to form, etc. I think I agree but what can the men do to get back to the glory days? P.s. I’m not hating on women’s ball at all, just because one is good doesn’t mean the other has to be worse.

Great CBB Pod - Solidarity with the Players Trying to Unionize
The Three Man Weave is without a doubt the best college basketball podcast for both the breadth of teams you cover and the depth of knowledge you have on each team. I was cracking up a few weeks ago when one of you offhandedly went “Of course regular 3MW listeners know Danny Wolf from Yale'' because what other cbb pod is talking about Yale enough to make him a regular character. Precisely because your coverage is always so thoughtful and thorough, I hope you become more open minded as the athletes from Dartmouth begin the inevitable process of asserting their rights as workers via their labor union. Even bad teams provide a service to their school as events for students to attend and a reason for alumni to donate. Students and alumni from any school would be outraged if they cut the basketball team even if the program hadn’t won a game in thirty years. I went to 2 time national champion Holy Cross and I’ll never forget our miracle run in the 2017 Patriot League Tournament. We were hyped to get a play-in game so we had a chance to win one and we were over the moon when we beat Southern. That team went 15-20 and 5-13 in Patriot League play and still likely garnered more alumni donations for the school than anything that’d happened in the previous decade. Even bad teams can make something happen, and even the ones who don’t deserve a slice of the pie. Yes, some players are worth significantly more than others, but all student athletes deserve compensation for the work they do and the service they provide their school, especially because a sports’ time commitment generally prevents them from being able to pursue other employment opportunities on or off campus. We’ve all seen Blue Chips, the best kids have always been getting paid and amateurism has always been a farce. A union helps ensure that they’re paid what they deserve and that every player is able to profit off their work as the lifeblood of this multi-billion dollar operation. The mafia style NIL collective solution is a start but is ultimately a band-aid on the Hoover Dam. The sport would be better off if it was able to get more organized and official about how and how much players were paid. I am sure those same student athletes would be similarly supportive if there was ever an opportunity for a sports podcasters union.

    Future of iowa Hawkeye basketball
Hey guys, love the podcast and the knowledge you bring for every single conference. Huge Iowa Hawkeye fan, what do you think the realistic ceiling is for the Iowa program? Fran did a great job bringing them out of the dumpster after Todd Lickliter and consistently has them finishing in the top half of the conference but little to no postseason success has turned off a lot of fans towards him. Do you think iowa should move on or do you think there’s a realistic replacement who could do an even better job (maybe Darian DeVries) thanks guys!
  • gohoos1998
Great pod - much better than the “big” guys.
Despite your disdain for UVA, I still enjoy listening to you guys :) Spoken like a true UVA fan - I think watching teams who can’t play defense (Gonzaga, Utah St, Boise) and allow straight line drive for layups, is just as hard to watch as this UVA offense. That being said, only 5 stars. Keep it going.
