ar13171997This podcast helped me immensely! In November of 2022 I was pregnant with my son, who knew a side effect of pregnancy would be multiple panic attacks a day? Not me. This podcast was one of the only things I could listen to and not end up in a panic. Thank you to Ma for her soothing voice, her past shenanigans, and her wisdom. I think of her as my own Ma now. š«¶

JmmattFundamentally important and absolutely incredibleThis is so important. The stories speak about, speak to, speak against the loud stories of colonialism. To listen to these stories as I walk on stolen Muskogee/Creek land, to hear both the connections to larger issues facing Indigenous communities while getting the specific personal, sometimes hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking, stories of you and your Ma is an absolute privilege.

MegchopsSo good.Your Maās voice is so comforting. She reminds me so much of my Aunt and all her amazing stories. Thank you for sharing this part of your family and life.

murphysistersSharing is gifting knowledgeI found this podcast when looking for a book to read on Canada Reads 2020 and I saw your name. Our momās were friends through CASNP and therefore I had to hear your Momās wild and crazy stories. My mom past away in 2012 and hearing your mom has brought back many memories for me and my sisters. Aboriginal rights are often conveyed in less personal formats and hearing from you, your mom and friends helps spread the nativeās message and experiences in a wonderful down to earth manner. Looking forward to season 2. Thank you!

JD the traveling watchFabulous storiesI landed here initially due to the ties with Letterkenny. While vastly different, I consumed all the episodes because of the amazing stories. It gives me a glimpse of what it is like to be Indian/Native/First Nation. I am thankful for that.

RadoGuyLove you and you mumJust want to say love just hearing you two talk about anything, Ay-ay!

ojibwe46Loved it!What a life, inspiring funny emotional, I binged in one afternoon. I had to laugh out loud when you said she was the native Forrest Gump, I was thinking that through many of the episodes haha. Chi Miigwetch!

Lila GGNot a False Move in Sight!I adore this podcast. I started listening because Iām a fan of Tiio Hornās acting work. What I totally saw coming was the charm, but what I couldnāt have seen coming was the incredible stories and emotional effect. I know she is a busy woman, but man: do I wish this was a weekly pod. Itās so well done, itās so necessary, so urgent. I recommend it to everyone. Incidentally, I have some Birch Bark Coffee headed to me in the US! As requested, to support the show, support the sponsors.

whitkvWhat a Life!My mom didnāt tell me stories about her life, but her sisters told me a lot of crazy stories about her life after she passed. I would have loved the chance to sit and hear these stories from her over coffee like this, so Iām kind of living vicariously through these two. And the stories are absolutely amazing. Please keep going!! š

andyChris96Simply in Awe.I love this podcast! I cannot emphasize this enough. I think Iāve listened to each episode at least two or three times since starting it last week and each story seems to get better every time I hear it again. If Iām being honest this podcast has played a role in not only motivating me to get back out there and continue furthering my education, but to actually step outside my comfort zone and experience life for all itās worth. There are not enough words that I can say to express how much I deeply enjoy this podcast and am greatly looking forward to its continuation!

klstuart5Inspiring!When I found out about this podcast I binged it in one day. The stories are amazing and the format makes you feel like youāre in the room sitting around a table with friends. So much badassery made me want to take on the world and make a difference myself. Canāt wait for season two!

Hillary1987Maās laugh keeps me goingThank you! Much respect for the all work Kaniehtiio Horn does!!! Listening to this podcast is like sitting down with my ma and talking about the old days. I love that mischievous laugh! When Iām homesick for my own I listen to this. These stories are not a one time listen. If you want to learn, have a laugh, and wish you could get a hug from ma, this one is gonna be for you.

Ha1ethAmazing PodcastThis podcast reminds me of listening to my dadās stories as a kid. He grew up on the other side of the world with totally different experiences from your mom but the loving, complicated bond you guys have and your momās awesome storytelling make me feel like heās alive again. And thatās just my review of the vibe of this podcast. The stories themselves are a whole other thing: fascinating, historical, full of heart and action and humor, giving me a glimpses of culture and history I didnāt know much about. Your ma is amazing and so are you. Thank you so much for this podcast.
-
Terrie Lynn MBeautifulThis podcast is amazing and I am so gratefully to you and your Ma for sharing stories that are not normally heard.

JadeMijaIndigenous Storytelling Gem!I love this podcast so much that I've listended to many of the episodes multiple times. The host and her Ma are so incredibly transparent and fun in their interactions and recollections! I am a Chicana/Native woman who often experiences imposter syndrome for not being affiliated with a tribe/clan or Native community. As I relearn the ancestral knowledge that has been lost on me, it's great to be able to listen to this show and feel like I am talking to other resilient Native women.

Rindercella82Please adopt me!This is the most amazing podcast. So heartfelt. Each episode I hear makes my heart grow 3 sizes. As someone who never got to have a real relationship with my own mother, hearing the mother-daughter dynamic born of true love & respect is exactly what this world needs. I love when Ma scoffs because she left out some detail we should already know, because sheās told the story 1000 times. It makes me feel like part of the family. ā¤ļø

APetite.14Amazzzzing!!Listened to the first 3 episodes on a drive and didnāt want to stop! I love the dynamic between you two, the way MA shares stories and the fierce beauty of indigenous activism! Love the laughter, too.

Mrs.Robinson22A really outstanding listenFun, fascinating, sometimes shocking. I suspect Ma is the same age as I am but I still kind of want to be her when I grow up. Thank you for sharing her.

Posty 107Amazing podcast!I have absolutely fallen in love with your Mom and her stories! What a courageous and inspiring woman she is! Thank you for sharing her with us. I have learned so much through your podcast and look forward to upcoming episodes!

Koby White Wing DiveBeautiful. Hysterical.Beautiful storytelling laced with our indigenous humor- often we are outside looking in at the going ons of the bigger world and that is where the laughter lives. Looking thru an indigenous lens at this crazy world. Beautiful. Wado

NaaavvviiiThank you for sharing your Maās storiesI love this podcast. It reminds me of being in the kitchen with my grandma and her siblings listening to family stories and laughing, sometimes crying, but feeling the link between me and my elders and ancestors strengthening. I love hearing the laughter bubbling out of Kaniehtiio as she pictures her Ma going through all these adventures. I am learning so much. Thank you to Kahn-Tineta for sharing your stories and your laughter and your strength and resilience with us. It means so much to listen to this podcast (as someone with indigenous ancestry but no direct connection to my familyās former culture) to be able to see from what you are generous enough to share, that some things survived in us.

strpgLove it!Found this in a Chatelaine article. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story I always say! Loving this podcast.
-
ASLucasAwesome!I just found this off of Twitter, and the story telling ability is just powerful. It reminds me a lot of my since departed Papa, thanks for the experience!
-
millerheirschfeldtHilarious and heart warmingHeard about this on Redman Laughing podcast and itās so funny to listen to while also learning insight about Canadian and Indigenous history. I first saw Kaniehtiio on Letterkenny, sheās a great actress. Glad to see sheās branching out. Both her and her legendary mom Kahentinetha are beastly and inspiring individuals.

Gabriel RatchetFor anyone with a mother ...I had stumbled across this podcast because Iād seen Canadian actress Kanietiio Hornās ferocious performance in the film Mohawk and was curious to find out more about her. As it turns out, fierceness runs in her family, as sheās the daughter of First Nations activist, fashion model, and all-around Cool Mom, Kahntineta Horn. The elder Ms Horn is a character and a half and would be supremely entertaining on her own, but her good-natured riffing with her daughter is the showās emotional heart. Most episodes, the younger Ms Horn doesnāt have to do much to set her mother off (āMaā is a born raconteur), but when stories are as entertaining as hers are, whoās going to complain? Plus of course, the very obvious affection they have for each other shines through in every episode (on a personal note, as someone who also grew up hearing stories about the turbulent times during which my own mother grew up and has since been kicking himself at not having written any of them down, Iām jealous of Ms Hornās easy rapport with āMaā).

OliveK24Wonderful stories!Interesting, funny, and heartfelt all at the same time! Kahn-Tineta Horn has lived a fascinating life and itās so great to hear her tell her stories to her daughter. The first four episodes have been great and I canāt wait for more!
-
BWilli37An amazing insightLove the way this podcast is so casual yet powerful in the subject of the storytelling yet it feels like you're sitting around a kitchen table listening to your grandmother tell tales of the past. Cannot wait for more!
-
kperks111Kwah Tsi Ioianare!I loved hearing the familiar mannerisms! This has such a homey feel, itās like Iām there! The stories so far have been eyebrow raising, fun, and hilarious! I really cannot wait to hear more from Coffee With My Ma! This was such a great idea. Iām so happy Kahente HornMiller told me about this wonderful podcast! Thank you/Nia:wen for sharing! -Kahentawaks Perkins from Ahkwesahsne.

4627975389fjbcejjCanāt wait for moreThe art of storytelling is one of my favorite things. So many stories of native people and those before us seem to be getting lost in the fast paced technology word we live in. Transcripts are great but being able to hear the spoken word is such a privilege. Thanks for sharing!
