Rich ScharfA nostalgic journeyI happened across this podcast about a year and a half ago and started listening from the first episode on. Now that Matt and Steve are up to 1967, when I first started buying Marvel (and DC, but Marvel was my favorite) comics, the podcast is a wonderful nostalgic haven. I get a kick out of their nerdy earnestness and humor, with possibly a soupçon of occasional brotherly rivalry 😄 But as much as the podcast is a haven of nostalgic escape from the world (just as the comic books themselves are), and while I understand their mission to keep their podcast as that nostalgic haven, I cannot say enough about how much, in the most recent episode released on 12/11/24, to the recent election meant to me. I too was gutted by the election, and it provided me solace to know that they felt the same. I agree - this podcast does not need to become a political outlet - I listen to other podcasts for that - but to ignore what happened would have been disheartening, as if everything was normal. I was a regular listener, but now I’m loyal to Matt and Steve

Erik227One of my favoritesI look forward to this podcast. I’ve been reading every Marvel Comic in chronological order and I love hearing Matt and Steve’s insight on all the early Marvel Comics. Great companion if you follow along.

Marvel Zombie from way backGreat sidekick for your Marvel unlimited subscriptionLove listening to this podcast as I read the comics discussed on my Marvel Unlimited subscription. These guys know their Marvel and share their knowledge in fun and interesting ways. Hope they can keep it up until they reach the 90’s Marvel comics which are my personal favorites. Thanks guys!

Tofu ChipmunkExcellent look at Marvel’s early daysThis podcast is a great breakdown of the unfolding of the Marvel Age starting in 1961. There is a great perspective on comic art and the historical perspective in examining how things came to be is very welcome. There is of course debate on the input of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko into the creation of characters that have had such a prominent place in pop culture over time. As such, the real answers are likely much more gray than the black and white picture subscribed to by many fans.
