    Interviews himself, too
Many solid guests and frequent insiders discussions about gear and music industry. Love that! Not an FF fan and had no awareness of the host, but he talks about himself enough, and often answers the questions that he’s asking, so much of the content seems self-congratulatory. Highlights: Colter Wall performance, JTE interview, and individual Stray Cats interviews.

Great Conversations About Americana and other Styles of Music
I’ve been a regular listener for since the early episodes with Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakum, and others as Chris was searching for the magic behind the Bakersfield sound. That has expanded into a broader discussion of songwriting, guitars, and modern roots music.

    Chris has a great podcast.
Great time listening to this podcast. It’s opened my mind and ears to Americana music. Love the Butch Walker episode and the boxing ones! Stay up Chris and keep doing what you are doing. Dave Carr

Loved the Randy Rogers episode! Need to get Wade Bowen next.

On the Todd Snider episode, he can’t remember the name of a multi part heavy metal doc “Metal Evolution” (Banger Films)… Anyway, Chris was asking for comments for show ideas and I thought Chris’ Metal Evolution…like what were his first metal bands beyond KISS? I went KISS, Aerosmith, ACDC, then Van Halen….I find that stuff fascinating. Maybe Chris gets David Lee Roth or George Lynch or whoever on as guests ?

    So very good
Just found this series and am cherry picking the episodes with my favorite musicians, and will thne back track to the athletes. I am an amatuer musician and love the discussions of writing, recording, touring, gear, etc.. Shiflett is the kind of conversationalist you'd want to sit next to at the airport bar when your flight gets delayed. Muisc, kids, life, and yeah, politics. Hooked.

    Hands down favorite podcast…
Great selection of guests (Peter Case and Dave Alvin!!) and great interview style; relaxed, conversational and passionate about the music. I listen to every episode regardless of guest.

    Give it listen
Great podcast! Mostly centered around music, obviously. But also branches into other areas. Episodes on boxing are some of my favorites. Guest line up is varied but is heavy on the Americana side. The scope is broad. Country, rock, singer/songwriter, r&b… I’ve found artist here that I never would have heard of anywhere else. And maybe, one day, we will get an interview with Dave!

    Excellent!
This is easily one of the best podcasts available! Chris chooses a great array of guests and every episode is interesting, even when you don’t know the person being interviewed. He asks engaging questions and always lets his guest speak, never talking over them.

    Great interviewer!
Chris is a great guitarist and host. He doesn’t talk over his guests unlike other hosts.

    Great Pod
Really enjoy the interviews and the occasional political commentary. The political opinions of a Californian are always hilarious.

    Forget That He’s a Rock Star🤘
I’ve listened to several podcasts on songwriting. This is my favorite. When I’m listening to Walking The Floor with Chris Shiflett, I feel like I’m hanging out with a childhood friend-unassuming and humble. With a knack for getting the best experiences and stories out of the writer, I don’t feel like I’m listening to one of the great rock and roll guitarists of the last 20 years. And as a longtime songwriter, I’m here to be inspired and hear what really got the writer to where he or she is and what inspires them. To that end, the biggest surprise of the podcast for me has been that Chris loves the process, and interviews so many singer/songwriters off the beaten path of what you might expect from a rock guitarist in an enormously popular rock band. I look forward to every new podcast🤘

Agree with you defending yourself 100%
Listening to episode 182, and you are 100% correct. Trying to bully someone someone because they don’t have the same agenda as you is not ok, regardless of your age, gender, sex, race, or sexual orientation. You did nothing wrong, did not do what you were accused of, and good for you for not apologizing for something you didn’t do!

    Focus on music
I subscribed to this podcast because I like to hear your interviews with interesting musicians. I specifically don’t listen for your political opinion. Can you control your TDS? Doubt it. Bye.

    Good guests, host needs work
Host talks too much about himself. Great guests. Keep it about them.

    Terrific interviews
Got turned on to this when Walking the Floor interviewed Tood Snider. Great appreciation for music history and the songwriter experience. Still working my way through the back catalog.

This guy SAVED my relationship with my dad and me
I am a 11 year old girl who LOVES Social Distortion. Me and my dad had a bad relationship (not gonna get into details) then, me and him were riding down a highway in California and he played his old social D albums and I 😍 IT. Then we went to concerts and he told me story’s. So, that’s what I love their music and the power in music

    Discover New Musicians!
This is a great podcast for a music lover. I'm a pretty heavy podcast listener - Chris is one of the best, most genuine hosts out there. I also really like the guests on the show. I've heard-of/knew-of many, but there's just as many I hadn't heard of. I've explored their music on Spotify after the shows, and have come up with some new favorites.
  • Towanda Ruth
    One of my favorites
As a country music nerd historian I was a bit skeptical of this podcast. However, I have come to love it - especially after working through most of the older interviews. Chris’s conversational style seems to bring people out. Sometimes questions asked make me feel old but they don’t seem to offend his subjects. I especially loved the Merle Haggard interview. My only complaint is his seeming obsession with “gear,” tho he even points out in the Patterson Hood chat that that seems to be a generational interest. Just not mine.. I love the ending acoustic songs most people do. Overall, a fascinating, well done podcast

    He Loves Communism
I thought this would have been a good listen. However the very first episode I listened to he opened the show up with how much he likes communism and socialism and preached that we need to welcome that into America. Not what I was expecting and nothing I want to listen to. I did not click on his show thinking it was a political show. Nor did I know he was a communist. I am so sad to hear those words come out of his mouth. I would have expected him to be happy he’s an American living off the capitalist society that made him millions. He’s famous because people bought his bands stuff. Not because of communism or socialism. And doesn’t he realize that the state of California is already a socialist state and it’s failing pretty hard. Chris I thought you were smarter than that. I wish you the best kid.

Very Informative Show - Great Interviews
Thanks for helping keep the Bakersfield sound alive. Based on all the Bakersfield musicians you introduced me to in your podcast, I discovered that Merle and Buck were just the tip of the Bakersfield music iceberg. I bought the Bear Family Bakersfield box set and love it! Great opening notes, Chris, on a very important musical collection. Now I just need to get me a left handed Telecaster! Thanks for a great show and keep em coming.
  • Iamcurley
Great insight and stories from someone who knows!
Love this podcast Chris. My son turned me on to it, and we both listen as we really enjoy the artists, and the way Chris manages the conversation, trades anecdotes, and provides just the right environment for the guests to enjoy themselves.

    Walking the Floor Fan
If you love live music and want to feel closer to the artist on stage take a listen to this podcast. Chris Schifflett creates a dynamic, peer to peer, rapport with each individual he interviews and draws out information about the artist and their work that lets you feel more informed and closer to the source. All this and yet no pretense! I love Americana music and wait for every new interview to learn more. Thanks Chris!

Thanks for the Vince Gill ep
Great stuff And Vince’s hard laugh at the end was priceless

    Women?
Amanda Shires is the only female I see listed. I'm excited to listen to this series but turned off by yet another forum where female artists are not represented with any attempt for balance.

    👎🏼
On the Justin Moore podcast. Before he starts talking to Justin, he talks about politics. Why bring politics into a music based podcast?

    Great pod!!!
So glad I found this pod after hearing Chris on Uncle Joeys pod. So wonderfully insightful and interesting. Would love to hear him interview Robert Earl Keen, Cody Canada, James McMurtry, Charlie Robison

Great podcast but a sausage fest
This is a great podcast, but I would love to hear him interview some of the great female artists out there. Elizabeth Cook, Lilly Hiatt, Erin Rae, Nikki Lane, Margo Price, Amanda Shires, so many great women who deserved to be heard.

Great podcast for those who know a ton about classic country music or for the person who wants to star learning about it. City kid and rock guy who also loves Roots Country.

Great Interviews by a Great Interviewer!
Chris Shiflett keeps the focus on his guests. Love that. He gets the full story, but doesn't dwell on the headline parts. Love the biography stuff, but also the gear and artistic process discussions. Thanks, Chris!

You had me at Uncle Tupelo
I discovered Walking the Floor a few years ago. I knew I had found a keeper when Chris referenced and showed great appreciation for the band Uncle Tupelo. But I’m also a fan of Chris’ 9-5 band(s). I have enjoyed the diverse interviews with different music genres, song writing, and guitar gear. The FaceTime of Jason Isbell is a highlight. Keep them coming Chris and Thank you.

    It's like being there.
When listening to this podcast, I feel like I'm there, in the room with Chris and his guests, listening to candid conversations among musicians. Even though I lack the genes to be a good musician, music is part of me and I'm happy to find this venue that takes us, the listeners, beyond the "glam" and superficial, to the hearts and minds of musicians. I'm also happy to learn about the gear that translates the sound in musicians' minds to the outside world. I recommend this podcast to anyone who likes to explore music on a deeper level.

Great interviews and live music segments
Chris has great respect for the country music genre and I love when he goes into gear related content. He gets high profile artists as well as great alt country artists. I love that often we get acoustic renditions at the end of interviews as well. Chris, you should play tunes sometime, too!
