BlaiseWojoHoping to grab a pint with Bally & NBZ some dayI am certain I left a review for this superb show last year, but iTunes seems to suggest otherwise. This feedback is long overdue. These brits generate hours of audible candy, ripe with reviews, predictions, insights, and recommendations surrounding the world of Nintendo. From the American perspective, their accents create a refined buttoned-up delivery of all things Nintendo, until NBZ goes off of the rails in his efforts to convince his co-host Bally that he is wrong when expressing a counterpoint. This is where the profanity kicks in, and it’s these moments of authenticity where the podcast truly shines, as they demonstrate the excellent chemistry shared between these lifelong friends. This is not a run-of-the-mill video game podcast series. These guys are enthusiasts who bring perspective to the table. Yes, they’re Nintendo fan boys, but they openly discuss industry trends and complete games that exist on other non-Nintendo platforms, which assures the listener that their impressions do not grow from a narrow-minded point of view. Furthermore, they are open about their favorite sources of information, and they constantly offer up praise to the other podcasts or journalists that inspire their creativity. Admittedly, I did not tune in to This Nintendo Life until probably somewhere around episode 150. For years, I frequently picked up and dropped podcasts dedicated to Nintendo coverage. Every other Nintendo podcast, whether it was the Nintendo Power Podcast, IGN’s Nintendo Voice Chat, or even the highly praised Radio Free Nintendo left me feeling as if I was making compromises just to gain access to topics and discussion around this brand that I’ve dedicated way too much of my life following. Like with practically all things Nintendo, too many other Nintendo podcasts are put through this filter of being too…fake? It’s like a sense of forced joy or enthusiasm, as if the production is shackled to the idea that Nintendo cannot be critiqued too harshly, or that the production itself has to be kid friendly. This Nintendo Life doesn’t subscribe to this philosophy, and they’re the top Nintendo podcast because of it. Their show is honest, just two friends chatting about their passion, but its delivered in a package that upholds the standards of professionalism. Cheers to you both. Justin from USA

urinalcakeGreat Podcast for Long Commutes! This show makes for an amazing long form listen if you have a long commute or drive a lot for work/school. However the hosts also break the show up into more digestible segments if you prefer to listen over a non continuous stretch of time. If you like Nintendo products examined through the lens of people who have grown up with Nintendo, but also play many non Nintendo games as well, and judge the games they play based on their merit and not preconceived bias(except about Super Mario Sunshine) you could not do better than This Nintendo Life!

Vec42Fantastic PodcastI have enjoyed listening to both Nbz and Bally discuss Nintendo and video games. I particularly like the fact that they cover and discuss older games in addition to current games. The format is well-organized, and the chemistry between Nbz and Bally and their perspectives are great. I can’t say enough good things about the podcast, thanks so much for providing quality content!

CurtisamongusIf you love old/new Nintendo and the nostalgia it brings, you will love TNLI’ve been a subscriber since December 2016. My childhood was all about NES, SNES, Turbografx and Xbox - but the Nintendo years were the best. Bally and NBZ are true experts in the video game world so they give great insight and opinions that you can relate to on everything Nintendo plus some PS4 and other games. I have no problem listening to the entire podcast every 2 weeks and don’t get bored with their topics. I searched everywhere for a good Nintendo podcast and this was the best. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t have gotten back back into gaming by purchasing the Switch if it weren’t for these two. Great show and content. Please keep up the good work!

4daptabilityNintendo From a Comprehensive PerspectiveThe hosts of TNL show their fandom for the gaming company but aren’t afraid to criticize and compare Nintendo to competitors like Sony and Microsoft. Their cross-platform knowledge makes for enjoyable discussions that have helped me deviate from Nintendo's first-party IPs. NBZ and Bally cover recent releases, as well as events like E3 and The Game Awards. I’d recommend the podcast to Nintendo fans and non-Nintendo fans, alike.

JasonLee99One of the best...I’ve been a listener since around episode 30 and quickly caught up with the earlier shows once I discovered it. What makes this show great is the chemistry between the two hosts. They’ve been friends since they were little kids so they can easily converse and debate without it being hard on the listener ears. They are also both great at describing what they like about a game. Anybody can tell you what they don’t like but few can pinpoint what makes a game great for them. These two both excel at it. I’m surprised this podcast isn’t more popular than it is because it’s just as good if not better than many of the other Nintendo podcasts. My only concern is it’s not as Nintendo heavy as it used to be. While it’s still Nintendo focused, expect to hear about PS4 and Steam games as well. Regardless, highly recommended.

Scottyg713Chatting about Nintendo with 2 Old FriendsThis is absolutely my favorite podcast. Listening to NBZ and Bally talk about games makes me feel like I’m listening in on a conversation with 2 friends that I’ve had for years. They both have a passion for the games they play, and there’s plenty of humor in their conversations too. I never leave their podcasts without having had a few laughs and a huge smile on my face. P.S. Sometime they toss in a big of Star Wars talk for free!

KejomoShould rename the showI don’t want to be one of those people who think the show should only be about Nintendo but, at least before Bally got a PS4 I could count on at least one Nintendo game per episode. I have been a subscriber since episode 40 but had to unsubscribe today. The show is going in a direction that I don’t much care for. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to hear about Steam, PS4, and Nintendo, but if your looking for just the latter, I would skip it.

HannibalATeamThe best small scale video game cast availableI have been watching Zed since the first instances of him uploading competitive Pokémon content on YouTube and am still a huge fan of his stuff. This is one of the best video game related podcasts that I listen too on a weekly basis. I would recommend this to anyone! Keep up the great work you two!

TheBedeFantastic podcast!I have been listening to This Nintendo Life podcast for a little over a year now and let me tell you, it's been an absolute treat. NBZ and Bally are very knowledgeable about Nintendo and all things gaming. They aren't afraid speak their mind and provide excellent discussions and commentaries about Nintendo and games they have been playing recently. To go along with this, their YouTube channel is fantastic and is definitely worth checking out as well! Keep up the great work!!

ReyDelEmpireYou guys are awesome! As a long time fan of Lord NBZ when he was doing Pokemon battles I rediscovered This Nintendo Life podcast in around 2015 iirc. Ever since I got into your podcast I haven't stopped and it really helps me beat my games. You guys have interesting thoughts and I like how you guys disagree from time to time. Keep being great!

GubstacularOne of the best podcastsIf I were to use one word to describe this podcast it would be quality. Its some of the easiest listening in the podcast world, and keeps me thorougly entertained throughout the duration of my listen. This podcast has succeeded in getting me excited about not only nintendo but gaming in general once again. Keep it up Bally and NBZ and thanks for putting out such a great podcast ad free and free of charge!

tbahr123Like chatting with two friendsListening to Bally and NBZ on TNL is like being in a room with two close friends and chatting about all things video games and Nintendo. I've recently discovered this gem, and I have since been drawn in to listening to old podcasts as far back as almost a year! It is a true joy to listen to these two friends chat about the joy of playing video games. If you are a Nintendo fan or enjoy Nintendo games at all, give this podcast a listen! You won't be disappointed! Keep up the great work Bally and NBZ! Congrats and good luck on the new YouTube channel and thanks for all your hard work!

FissionmailedgfA Brilliant PodcastThis Nintendo Life (Formerly Now You’re Playing With Power) Podcast is a stellar podcast. But what makes it so excellent? There are two parts of the formula: the first is chemistry. NBZ and Bally (The show’s hosts) have been good friends for many years and it’s quite evident. They have incredible chemistry together, they play off of each other very well and their opposing dynamics (NBZ being very goofy and silly with Bally being much more the straight man) create something that is thoroughly, consistently entertaining. They’re also really funny, humor is always mixed in with serious discussion to keep everything very fun. The second part of the formula is the game’s discussion and dissection. Whether it be in the What We’ve Been Playing segment, the Listener e-Mail segment, or the News segment, NBZ and Bally’s core game values have been shining through each and every episode. And they don’t always agree, far from it, often times they have very different views. But in hearing opposing views (NBZ valuing gameplay first and foremost where Bally values gameplay and atmosphere [A combination of graphics, soundtrack and story] more equally) valuable discussion immerges, and both sides get to be represented. But there’s a third part that is maybe even more important than all of these, and that is passion. There is unbelievable passion fueling this podcast. It shows in how enthusiastically NBZ or Bally will speak of a game that they enjoyed, it shows in how they tear apart a game that is awful. It shows in how they will genuinely address a listener’s email and give it careful thought, it shows in how each and every conversation that they have on the show always feels like they’re very invested in the discussion. It’s passion that almost vicariously transfers to the viewer, personally I’ve bought many games simply based off of how excited they were talking about them, and I’ve always enjoyed them immensely. They have fun doing this podcast and because they genuinely enjoy doing it, and they know viewers enjoy listening to it. And that is what makes it such a brilliant podcast.

Ryan :^)2/10 Would ReccomendThis podcast is just awful. Bally is a complete casual who loves everything Nintendo puts out, no matter how childish it is. He only plays games made for babies. Bally's just the worst kind of Nintendo fanboy. However, this is supposed to be a Nintendo podcast but NBZ only ever plays Uncharted, Telltale games, and crummy indie puzzle platformers on Steam. I don't think NBZ even owns a Nintendo console. There are two extremes, Bally, the blind 5 year-old fanboy, and NBZ, who probably hasn't played a Nintendo game in 10 years. They have no chemistry or coordination with each other. This is the worst podcast I've ever listened to. But, for some reason I look forward to hearing them every two weeks.

Damc34Hilarious Hosts and Smart Gaming TalkI had to write a review for this podcast because of the Game of the Year podcast from last year. I couldn't stop laughing at the Z and B negotiating for which games would make the Top 10 then Top 3! :P The host are good friends and that comes off clearly in the podcast. I appreciate their candid words and that they don't paint Nintendo in a rosy light. My only hit on the show is they cuss and I like to listen to my podcasts around the house but I can't with my little ones around. If you love Nintendo (and you have headphones when around children) you will love listening to this podcast.

Viper RKO 13Love the showgreat way to discuss games in a podcast format and I love the fact that its done every 2 weeks, gives me something to look forward too without too much input. Bally and NBZ have a great connection that shows through every time. Great podcast for nintendo enthusiasts and gaming fans in general.

SullivanConnerPretty RadicalThis is the farthest thing from the swimming aerobics podcast I was looking for, but still solid.
-
Code3x6Now you're playing with this Nintendo lifeThis podcast has been a true joy listening to. It is informative in all the latest nintendo happenings, but perhaps even better when they revisit old nintendo happenings and games. The nostalgia factor Is real and this podcast never gets old.
-
drizztman55Really greatOne of my favorite podcasts about any subject. NBZ and Bally have great chemistry and their differing view points/tastes on many subjects keep things interesting. They give well thought out answers to every listener mail question. Finally, I love the special segments they have every once in a while.
-
ArtSpotNintendo News… just listenI love this podcast. Nbz & Bally are the best. Just listen to it!
-
Eternal_EABAwesomeGreat podcast, enjoyable, NBZ and Bally work awesome off of each other.
-
Nicholas MoyleExcellent PodcastI've been a listener since day one and since I still catch every episode, it goes without saying that I really enjoy this podcast. NBZ and Bally have found a winning formula with the three segments per show, both the two recurring and the one which changes from fortnight to fortnight. Upon this solid foundation, the guys bring inciteful and level-headed commentary not only about Nintendo, but about the video game industry as a whole. I thoroughly appreciate the breadth of games which are covered and the depth to which each is discussed. I am proud to say that I have expanded my own gaming horizons as a direct result of listening, and I hope that others have had the same experience. Overall, this is a must-listen for a Nintendo fan or for a gamer in general.
-
brngrcTop Notch, Quality PodcastThis is one of the best Nintendo oriented podcasts out there. The host know what they are talking about and have interesting things to talk about week after week. Definitely give them a listen.
-
Jacob BolesSimple is goodWell formatted. Entertaining hosts. Good conversations. This is more of a casual conversation about video games between friends than a video games news podcast, and that’s what makes it great. Nbz and Bally keep up with the latest happenings, but also take the time to go back and talk about games that they missed or that they are revisiting. I personally can’t keep up with the games market, and can’t always afford to buy all the newest stuff, so having people who talk about games that are a bit older is actually something that I really enjoy.
-
latterdayrastaGreat show!I jumped aboard after the "rebranding," and I'm really enjoying it! If you're a nintendo fan you'll love this podcast!
-
Dan WebGreat podcastWhen I find a new podcast I like, I rarely go back and listen to old episodes. But now I’m in the middle of listening to every single back episode of this podcast. It’s that good if you have any interest in video games or Nintendo. Segments where the hosts read and respond to listener email are timeless and worth going back and listening to. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it.

Raiden476The best of the best podcasts!I have been a long time subscriber to NBZ (or how it used to be NZB) and I have always enjoyed his content. Now, I was really freaking excited when I checked my sub box that NBZ had a podcast! Even better than an NBZ solo podcast, we got a co-host named Bally, who I had never heard of before. It took me about 3 seconds into the awesome 8-bit opening music that I was completely engaged and on board with the podcast. The structure is great and broken down into 3 segments. They open with what they have been playing and what their overall opinions are. This is definitely my favorite segment as they go over both the good and the bad, and if the game is fun in the long run. In fact, I've picked up a few games because of their analysis' (pikman 3, bayonetta 2 and Zelda Windwaker HD). Their second segment can vary, but it is generally a discussion of upcoming games and announcements in the industry. (Nintendo directs are often covered here) The third segment is the most varied and is different almost every week. This segment is where we get the discussions of in depth industry matters (think gamergate and analysis on why companies act the way they do). They even sometimes do trivia that you can play along with! The third segment is always an extremely engaging and it's enjoyable listening to 2 guys, like you and me, talk about the industry in such a mature and civil manner. So, if you read this entire review, awesome! If you just skipped to the end, well, here's my summary...LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST!!!! P.s each segment is broken up by a short intermission in which NBZ plays some game music, often it's 8-bit. If anything, listen to the podcast for that! ~Raiden476/ZapCannon5 ^Miiverse^ ^YouTube^

Waverider900like fe7 but a podcast (aka, it's the best out there)Wonderful to listen to while playing anything from advanced wars to banished, or driving, or an infinite list of other things. nbz's mastery of the editing craft (unless Bally has some role in it?) never ceases to amaze me. i'm not much of a podcast listener but nypp has inspired new hope for the medium within me. thanks guys <3 -waverider900

GepelnitchLurvMega wicked podcast, focused pretty much solely on gameplay! Which is what those whom are fans of nintendo care about! Keep it up Bally and NBZ!
-
TheStrategist9It Only Gets Better with AgeI’ve been listening to this podcast for quite a while, and I have to say that I really have been enjoying it. I credit NBZ and Bally with getting me back into Nintendo gaming after I took a bit of a break in college. Hearing their perspective on both new and old games has led me to want to try a bunch of new things outside of my gaming “comfort zone,” particularly with retro games available via digital download. Keep up the great work guys - I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next!

BunselpowerThe BestI write in most weeks (you can probably match my name here to my name in my emails), and heard you guys saying you needed some iTunes reviews, so I have created an Apple account just to deliver one to you guys. Love these guys, they are the best. They put on a great show every two weeks, and I love love love listening. If you are a Nintendo fan, you absolutely have to listen to these guys. Don't let NBZ's Pokemon YouTube channel fool you, he is well versed in games and they deliver such a great show. Cannot recommend highly enough. And man, forget those garbage 3 star ratings. "They are Nintendo fanboys" he says... come on dude, it's called 'A Nintendo Podcast'!
-
LAV96Great quality, great entertainmentLove zed so I finally started listening. Literally just sit at my internship and listen to these to pass the time, could not be more pleased. Only complaint is that sometimes I laugh too hard while listening and get odd looks from my co-workers! Overall, great job lads.
-
jibbletonIts Zed-tacular on my Ballys!I have been listening to all of your podcasts thus far and have been enjoying every second. NBZ and Bally deliver a great combination of knowledge, outlook, and personality that keeps me entertained throughout every podcast. For anyone with even the slightest interest in Nintendo, or video games in general, should give these guys a listen; they certainly deserve a bigger following of fans :) P.S. I love the bloopers you guys have been adding at the end of your recent sessions. Keep up the great work fellas!

CeireavneNeeds to be taken with a grain of saltFirst off, this is a bi-weekly Nintendo podcast. Second, the podcast's pillars, Bally and Nbz are both Nintendo fanboys to an extent. In other podcasts, multiple people tends to mean you get a fairer (and perhaps more critical) assessment over the topics discussed. Not so much with this podcast, unfortunately, as these two agree on a lot of things. They are almost always optimistic about Nintendo, but even if that means I have to take their opinions with a grain of salt, it really feels good to listen to. The podcast is divided into three sections, divided by music breaks. The first section is what either pillar has been playing over the last two weeks, regardless of whether or not it is Nintendo. This can be somewhat hit or miss, as Bally and Nbz play a variety of games, some of which I am not particularly interested in, and this segment sometimes seems to carry on longer than it should. They also have a consistent listener mail segment, which I very much enjoy listening to. The third segment varies, sometimes a discussion over current events, Nintendo Directs, E3, or the like. The variety is good, though they sometimes have a feature topic filling in two segments' length. These can be hit or miss, as they sometimes run on a bit longer than they ought to. The music breaks, while good, seem somewhat silly to me. From what I understand, these podcasts aren't actually recorded live, so there's not particularly a need for a commercial break. Granted these are often good remixes of game music, but it strikes me as a bit disingenuous or pretentious. What makes a podcast like this good is two or more personalities chatting at length, and while having an agenda is good, it shouldn't feel stifling. I'm all for having an intro and outro to a podcast, but in my opinion the transitions would be smoother without music breaks. All told it's a solid podcast for gaming and especially Nintendo. If you're looking for something to listen to while you're multitasking, go ahead and give this podcasst a shot.

NealbuscusGreat Podcast!NBZ and Bally are great hosts and provide entertaining anecdotes about thier experiences with Nintendo franchises, as well as video games in general! I definitely recommend it! Great to listen to while commuting or multi-tasking!
-
VictoryStar926Look Forward to Listening!Man I love listening to podcasts, but this is the one I am always looking forward to hearing. Love tuning in every other week!
-
Lucky_green9The BestBeen a long time listener/subscriber to Zed and his main man Bally. I love this podcast and the knowledge these two men have is unparalleled. These two make everything sound so good and they have made me purchase a few games, and consider purchasing a Wii U, which is crazy. If you aren't listening, you need to be. This is great for video game lovers. Plus the accents are splendid :+)
-
mr.12345Great PodcastReally well structured podcasts with two good host that know what they are talking about and make it enterteining.
-
Saint-vayfunny and informativethese guys are great, they mostly know what they're talking about and make good points all while being funny. they're also truthful about a company that seems to only get totally disregarded or fanboy-ed over
