    An X-Men Encyclopedia!
I’ve learned so much from this show and it made me into a massive X-Men fan! Keep up the great work!

    Love it!
Time of writing this review, I’ve been listening for a couple years, and I love it. The podcast is really funny, and most of what I know about X men comes from this show
  • stevierayhendrix
The hosts have a mutant ability to talk in 4.5 speed
    WHAT!!!!!!

    10 Years of X-cellence
These two are delightful. I have spent many hours listening to them review X comics thoughtfully and with good humor. Come for the cold opens, stay for the mind bending continuity retcons.

    A 5 star review for a 5 star podcast
Quite simply my favorite AND the best comic podcast out there!

    THE Definitive X-Men lore podcast
Do you want to know what happened with the X-Men that one time? Which time you ask? Any time... Becase Jay and Miles are two of the most knowledgeable people on the planet when it comes to the X-Men. Week by week they take a deep dive on the lore of the beloved superhero soap opera that has stretched well back into the 20th century through comics, tv, magazines, merch, moves, and much much more. This is THE definitive podcast explaining the X-men.

    X-men Explained!
Great show! The podcasters are as dynamic and interesting as the comics they explain.

    X-cellent podcast
My favorite podcast! The hardest part is waiting week to week now after being able to binge through the first couple of years way back when. Love reliving my childhood and finally getting a better understanding of what I read as a child with their insights!

    Great podcast
I’m so glad to have been recommended the show. Both hosts work very well together. Their insights are fun. I’ve listened to probably every episode. I loved their earlier shows because that was my favorite era of X-men. Sadly they are currently covering part of the X-men history that I did not enjoy and so it’s harder to be as excited about the program. I’ll stick with it because of Jay’s sharp insights and Miles’ bonhomie.

Fantastic in-depth coverage of the best super heroes soap operas
I read a lot of the X-men books when I was a kid. Hearing Jay & Miles cover them now is the best pure nostalgia bang for the buck! And while I'm not about to get back into collecting comics, hearing them recap the material I haven't read, with commentary about why events or characters or settings are important, definitely scratches that itch. Also, there are so many episodes to dive into!! Kudos.

    Love Jay and Miles
This show has been through so much and love how they’re still on good terms and hosting together like true X-Men. Doesn’t get old, keep them coming!

    It was good
Hi I have listened since 2018 from episode 1-375 and. You guys have mostly been the best x men podcast You jay are hard on miles for what I can only assume is some need to be right and get the last word And miles your great but you try to make almost everything a joke Okay I’ll be listing from afar
  • DeathShrike
    Adorable
Extremely charming and useful. Jay could use some improv classes as he desperately needs to learn how to “yes, and”. The pathological no-selling of other people’s bits reminds me too much of insecure bully-nerds from middle school.

Akin to checking in with good friends
Jay and Miles have an amazing podcast! I binged close to 300 episodes in about 8 months, listening to 1 or 2 a day. Great way to pass some time at work, as, besides being informative about the X-Men, the dynamic between the hosts is incredibly entertaining. It's also been an education in viewpoints and perspectives and sensitivities of others, in a very socially conscious way. Jay and Miles have in interesting relationship, which has persisted over many changes through the course of their lives. The podcast has gone well past the days of when I was reading X-Men comics...and I still listen just to keep up with a couple of good friends. :)

    Fantastic
Can’t recommend enough!!!! Top three podcasts I listen to. Jay and Miles are a godsend to the mutant lore I grew up on and am still reading today. Thank you both for giving me a voice to listen to every week about the comics I love!! HUHWHAT?!?!?!
  • Icemanmike82
    What?!?
I never miss an episode of the podcast that is about X-Men but really about life and being human! Jay and Miles have not only educated me about the X-Men characters, storylines and creators but also how to navigate nerd culture and win!
  • Have Brain Will Travel
    Comics Greatest Superhero Soap Opera
I was a fan of the tv show growing up, but only read the occasional comic. I started listening because I was driving a lot and figured I’d give it a chance (there were only ~20 episodes at the time). Although we’ve never met, after spending 8 years listening to Jay and Miles, I feel like we’re friends.
  • just say no to cozi
    Meh
Very informative and explains the continuity well. But hosted by 2 people that represent to problem with pop culture and comic fandom in the modern age: snarky, insulting, and basically set on dumping on everything and calling it “cool.” If you can stand the delivery, the information is there.
  • CTownie
    They Just Get Annoying
I started this show from episode 1 and really liked the first several episodes. However, after about 5-10, they just start getting really insipid and full of themselves. The snarkiness and hacky-deadpan-humor get super old super quick. They can’t through a sentence without making some kind of obligatory lame joke. Just gets tiring after a while.

A constant of my life for years now
I have been listening to this show for over six years (I know, I’m a terrible fan for only now leaving a review), and it has never failed to make me happy, make me laugh, and make me think. Jay and Miles are incredible hosts with a huge amount of knowledge on the subject matter, great social awareness, a drive to build a welcoming community, and above all, a delight to listen to. Turning on this podcast is a weekly dose of comfort for me; even though I am a HUGE fan of the X-Men, I listen to it first and foremost for the hosts. I feel like I get to fall in love with my favorite fandom all over again each time I turn on an episode, all thanks to the rockstars that are Jay and Miles and everyone else who contributes to this wonderful community.
  • Hillbilly Nightmare
    X-cellent podcast!!
I watched the 90’s cartoon and loved it despite not being a big fan of comic books characters in general. I wanted to go back and read the comics to connect with my childhood hero’s and prepare myself for X-Men in the MCU. Reading nearly 60 years of comics is an overwhelming task but not with the help of Jay and Miles! I have the marvel unlimited app to read along and I just started Xcalibur. This podcast is exactly what I was looking for!!
  • Tdaviles
    My favorite comic book podcast
I love this podcast!!!! There are several really great comic book podcasts that I enjoy, but Jay and Miles are definitely on the top of the pile. As someone who has read X-men comics fairly consistently for the last 30 years, I love the depth of knowledge of they both have, not to mention that of their many awesome and amazing guests, of not just the stories, but the behind the scenes events and circumstances, as well as the real world contexts that influenced those stories. And that's not even going into their special Giant Sized episodes! Highly recommend this podcast for any X-men fan new or old.
  • Menacingbull
    Awsome
Listen to it all the time ignore the right wing bigots that obviously don’t understand what the X-men ideals are keep doing what you do and stay progressive
  • squeot
    A joy
An interesting analysis that catches literary arcs that were missed in the cadence at release. The hosts have a deep love and context that doesn’t over-rotate into any niche or single facet. Thrilled I found this!
  • keilbeaver
    Too much
I have listened to every episode and love the insight into XMen. I can handle the hosts’ liberal agenda to a point. Coming out against anti-grooming legislation is too much for me. Adults can love who they want and be what the want, but leave the children out of it.
  • SeveredFlow
    Keep to the comics!
Love their breakdown of the storylines but everything else is regrettable. One of the “guys” is too cringe and the other is an enabler.
  • RegardingX
    Worth it!
While I was initially daunted by how many episodes there are and the length of the episodes; I got into it anyway, after a recommendation. I’m glad I did. Jay and Miles enthusiasm has really grabbed my attention and opened my eyes to eras of X comics I was never interested in previously.
  • doubtingtomjr
    Consistently x-cellent
The first time I listened to this, I stopped listening when they came to the end of the Claremont run, which is where I stopped reading the x-titles until Morrison saved the line. I’m trying to follow the entire show this second time around, based solely on how much I enjoy Miles and the interviews.
  • D. McElroy
First time reviewer, Long time listener
Long time X-Men fan and I was so happy to find a X-Men podcast there have been ups and downs. The duo brings an interesting take but sometimes you could really get annoyed with their personal political beliefs. You can obviously tell they love a specific time in X-Men.Miles is OK but sometimes he can get annoying. Jay is overbearing at times but make some really interesting points I don’t like them sometimes but they are necessary. I am really impressed how they went through 30 years of X-Men in 5 years.

    One of the best
Well researched and well thought out. Passionate and lovingly made. Full of goofy jokes and social commentary. It has everything you need for a show about the best comic book soap opera.

    I found a jewel
I found this podcast on my new app and it’s such a great show to listen to. While I’m at work listening to it constantly. On episode 8 and loving ever bit of it. It really won’t take me long I get all caught up. Keep up the hard work.
  • DCGuy86
    Ok
I like it enough, but it’s not my go to podcast
  • mam-sir
    😕
Jay, please get over yourself. You’re ruining the show. Love the passion and work that gets into it, but Jay’s contrarian shtick wears me down. One of the most unlikeable personalities I’ve ever come across. Otherwise, the show is well-researched and presented. Miles, you’re the best!

    Y’all are great
Just difficult to literally hear Jay sometimes.

The Best X-Men Podcast Out There
The greatest praise I could ever give this show is that I regularly return to old episodes over and over. This show not only reinvigorated my love for my favorite Marvel characters, it made me a better writer, a better reader, a better researcher, and probably a better person. If you love the X-Men, you’ll love this podcast.
  • MikeDonovan1138
    Wretched.
Started out alright, way back in the early days. Every single episode after about the hundred episode mark is aggressively (and I mean, intrusively) worse than the one before it — to the point that it’s just utterly unlistenable now, entirely because of “Jay.” Miles is and always has been awesome.

    Heart emojis
I just love them. We need more podcasts w this kind of passion and scope. Their relationship is inspiring.
  • nctomprescott
    Great um actually it’s good
Jay and Miles week in and out dive in into X-Men continuity and entertainingly retell the stories with wacky voices that’s the great part. The um actually is how aggressively controlling Jay can be and correcting Miles on everything, which zaps the joy from the show.

    👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Can’t say enough great things about this podcast. As a serious X-Men geek getting to hear a weekly discussion on all things mutants is an absolute treat. And both Jay and Mile’s depth of knowledge on the X Universe is 😳 Fantastic show for X-Men fans.
  • jordanxt
Xcellent podcast on the mighty mutants
This podcast helped reignite my love of the X-men. Incredibly informative, funny, and well researched. Highly recommend to all fans of X-men.
  • CoolCole96
Well-Researched Commentary, Witty Banter & Thorough Synopses
Jay & Miles are two of the best podcasters out there, consistently bringing me new pieces of X-Men lore to fall in love with with a side of commentary tying the Mutant Metaphor into larger discussions of race, class, disability and literary tropes. Everyone, Marvel fan or not, should listen to this podcast!!
  • TheNeighborhoodSuperhero
    Best podcast ever
Jay and Miles are amazing! This podcast has given me a completely different take on my favorite comic book series! Also, Jay wrote a Cyclops comic and it’s awesome!
  • jindi458297
    A favorite for years
The minority/queer perspective on X-Men is both canonical and crucial as a lens for reading the work, and I've always enjoyed Jay and Miles and their interaction. A lot has changed over the course of the show, but their thoughtfulness and hilarious listener credits have only gotten better. Highly recommended.
  • Spartanite 67
    Solid Intro Into X-men
This is a great and detailed look into the continuity and history of X-men. Although with so many episodes it might seem as intimidating as getting into the comics themselves, but i think it worth the time commitment.
  • MareBare123456789
Long time listener, first time writer
I have been listening to this podcast for like five ish years. I love listening to Jay and Miles explain X-Men. They are so insightful and intentional with their commentary. Love it
  • David Katzin
It’s a weekly treatise on the human experience.
My favorite podcast. Jay as a crunchy and slightly cranky liberal intellectual is excellent at critical analysis and dissecting the various social issues both intentional and not written into each issue they read. And Miles is good at tapping into that heartfelt compassionate part of the brain that just wants to enjoy the experience of giving yourself over to something you love for 20-odd pages at a time. There is some overlap in their two POVs and MOs of course, but their two general approaches make a good dynamic point-counterpoint. They are also very well versed in pop culture media across the board. I seriously want to go back and catalog all their little geeky digressions over the years and make a reading list of all the books they reference over the years.
  • Official Apple Podcast Reviews
    Jay thinks minorities are sub-human
If you’re the type of person that thinks minorities are human beings then this podcast isn’t for you. If you think minorities should be treated like injured fawns who need to be nursed by benevolent white people, you might like this podcast. The x-men aspects are great, but jay (fka rachel) cannot make it through an episode without demonstrating that she has never had a normal interaction with a black person.
