    Captivating, accessible window into composers
I’ve always had a hard time getting into contemporary classical music, so I was thrilled when I saw the Kickstarter for Meet The Composer. I’d previously already heard Nadia Sirota’s performances of some contemporary composers’ works, and really appreciated them. So I was excited to see what she would explore and bring to everyone’s attention. Excellent discussions, beautiful editing, and long excerpts of music. I’ve bought recordings of the composers featured (as much as I’ve been able so far) and they are excellent—really upending my existing classical collection. 😄 I have appreciated how varied the episodes are: while they all cover the same kind of format, they end up going in a very composer- and music-led direction that really help to illuminate some great musicians and their music.

    Stunningly Beautiful
Will this show ever return?? Listening to this show made my heart swell and my brain explode with every episode. I definitely cried at work listening with my headphones on more than once and had to hide my eyes. For those of us who can’t afford symphony tickets, this is a blessing.

    Truly genius.
This is such a welcome and refreshing change for a consumer of podcasts. It’s content is surprising for a lover of music, the storytelling and editing are superb, and the sound design rivals and surpasses the absolute best out there. Subscribe.

    Brilliant, captivating, necessary
As a voracious podcast listener and an avid consumer of music of all types, I can attest that Nadia's podcast is truly a gem. What Krista Tippett's show does to the world of faith and spirituality, Nadia does to the world of music. Nobody out there delves so deeply, lovingly, and captivatingly into the people behind the music, presenting a thoughtful snapshot anyone can enjoy. This is the podcast you never knew you needed. Nadia is also an absolutely riveting host - intelligent, articulate, compassionate. The only thing I wish is for this podcast to be a weekly thing because we absolutely need this. In the meantime, will re-listen to episodes in between seasons.

    I'm Addicted
I first heard about this podcast from another podcast, RadioLab. Needless to say, after that small taste, I wanted more, and I have yet to be disappointed. Nadia is smart, insightful, a great storyteller, and an even more sensitive musician. The show is thoughtfully constructed and well executed. You are not only exposed to the personal, hidden side of a composer's works, but Nadia shares her unique perspective on the music, which is colored by her years as a performing violist. Cannot say enough positive things about this show! Bravi tutti.

    Starting to get its groove
At first this podcast was a bit dry and lifeless, but each episode is getting better and better. This last one with Nico is the best by far. Nadia is really finding her voice. I just wish it would come out more often!

    Refreshing and accessible
I never understood the contemporary pieces I played in high school ensembles; they always seemed discordant and chaotic, the complete oppositie of what I thought music embodied. But MTC brings these pieces down from their seemingly lofty position and places it within context without getting too technical. Often, they interview the composer on his/her style, method, and inspirations, and then play a representative piece. The resulting clarity is incrediably gratifying and almost certainly magical. Highly recommended to anyone regardless of their level of musical education.

    Food for thought
As a high school music teacher, I am constantly trying to find new resources to inspire my students and myself. I'm glad to say that this podcast serves both! My AP music theory and performing ensembles alike were excited to hear the Andrew Norman and Caroline Shaw episodes. The quality of the interviews and sound design is amazing. Thank you MTC for such a great listening experience!

    Can't see the appeal
Being an enthusiast of varied music genres and sounds, and after learning of its existence through radiolab, I thought I would give it a shot. Little did I know from the first time I started listening that (instead of consisting of music from all over the world) it was a mess of modern composers whose "sounds" have no congruence. Being a drummer and guitarist for 8+ years, I have grown to appreciate music spanning the globe, even that which I thought to be boring, but this is just a myriad of dissonant sound. You people dissapoint me with these positive reviews. Most of you should know how to appreciate real composition and the effort it takes to be a great composer.

    For Everyone
I’m completely uneducated when it comes to music, but this show is still tons of fun. I’ve found some great new composers from it, and even when I don’t love a composers work the interviews are so well done and compelling that I listen anyway.

It’s like swimming in the ocean...
This is the most compelling work of art, in the medium of sound, I have ever heard. The interviews interspersed with sound and music, including full length pieces, are incredibly beautiful. Thank you Nadia Sirota for sharing this gift with us. Seriously, the world is a little more beautiful with this podcast and the featured composers in it. Download, put on headphones, close eyes, take a deep breath, and swim in the sound waves. :)

    Awesome and wonderful
I'm so into this! For one thing, suddenly I've listened to all this music I didn't know about before. I'm passingly familiar with the occasional contemporary composer but I really don't know anything about this world and so learning about it is exciting. And the interviews and discussions are so detailed and rich, and yet not so jargony that I can't follow them. Sometimes shows that involve one expert talking to another are just...I feel how much I'm not the target audience. But Sirota keeps that from happening, for the most part. It's just a really beautifully made show and I get so excited when there's a new one. Also, they are nice and loooong. I'm wondering, though - are there some episodes that aren't up on iTunes? There are some "extras" for episodes that don't seem to exist.

An incredibly great combination of really interesting composers, interviews, soundscape and excellent listening examples of their work. Really this podcast is the dream listening experience for a music geek, composer or enthusiastic. I’m In Love!

One of theBest Podcasts about music.
Kudos to Nadia, the way the podcast flows is simply genius. To listen to this is really really necessary in order to understand what is going on in terms of the creative process of our contemporary composers. Also its is a great way of promoting their music to people that might have never heard of them. Awesome work, Thanks!

    Nice work
Nadia and team do a great job of taking you inside of a brilliant composer's head - in very cool & fresh sound-designy fashion. If you're into Radiolab or 99% Invisible and have any interest at all in outside-the-box art, this is for you.
