    Pitiful Partisan Propaganda
Did I just listen to a “newscast” sponsored by AIPAC and the DNC? They’re fully unwilling to hold elected officials accountable, opting instead to gaslight the American public. Biden is sharp as a tack, the economy is doing GREAT, and Israel is our bff. Get your podcast news from independent journalists instead: System Update (Glen Greenwald), Max Blumenthal (The Grayzone), The Real News Network, etc.

    Texas Defending Its People
I don’t understand Ms Garza’s rational of not defending Texas people being overran by millions of illegals. The federal government is not enforcing the US law & Texas has to defend itself— nip the bud of criminality. Seems she playing politics here. I’m confused!

This is the least informative of the major daily podcasts.

Just heard your guest expressing his view about being thanked for his service- he is entitled to his view, but I can tell you his opinion is not the only one, although others do share it. Many, many vets are gratified by the affection. & gratitude of others. I practiced psychiatry for decades, as well as being mother of a combat vet. There are times when all the positivity in a vets life comes from Strangers. That can be a lifesaver, believe me.

    Ehhh
There are so many ads which I get you need to pay for the podcast upkeep but this is a whole new level. They even open the show w/ ads. Seems like it’s getting worse.

    Trumps indictment
I’m ok with Republican (or Democratic) DA’s bringing charges against Democratic former Presidents in future, if former Pres has broken the law. Why don’t you guys talk about the rule of law. Other countries are able to enforce law against law breaking presidents/prime ministers. If Nixon had faced charges and been tried BEFORE Ford pardoned him, maybe there would have been less law-breaking by succeeding Presidents. This country prosecutes and incarcerates it’s citizens at a higher rate than any other country in the world and yet for some reason the leader of executive branch should be free to commit crimes without accountability? I had to turn off the podcast. Couldn’t listen to the entire thing.

    Please--Less Emily Bazelon
I have pretty much decided that when I hear Emily I will skip that show. The know-it-all, I'm-smarter-than-you, mocking vibe that she brings to the show is not what anyone in this world needs for any public discussion.

    Enjoyed!
Guest today Danielle Citron was great. So thoughtful and articulating the very complex case involving the internet. Thank you for your talk and all the info you’ve laid out. I appreciate your analysis of our present Supreme Court. I too think Justice Jackson is wonderful and so very smart! Love her 💜.

What is the point of the British dude’s female co-hosts? Are they just fodder for him to speak over them and argue with until his opinion is righted in his own mind? Ick

    The Dobbs Episode
Thank you. I feel utter disgust and contempt for these unqualified, not recommended judges. A laughing stock.

    Lazy no-nothings pontificate precariously
Slate podcasts used to be my go-to. I don’t know what happened but they just talk off the cuff about stuff they clearly don’t understand or are unprepared to discuss in detail. It’s like listening to people in a bar talking about themselves vis-a-vis the topic at hand.

Please give Sherrilyn Ifill her own show. I could listen to her all day. Her thought logic is mesmerizing

Used to be good. Now nothing but both-sideism garbage.
I used to really like this podcast. But the desperate attempt to “appear neutral” is just so pathetic that it makes this impossible to listen to. “Yes, this side committed murder, but this side jaywalked. So they’re both criminals and therefore, they’re the same.” This mentality is malpractice & why the American media is failing us all. As someone with a MA in journalism, who studied propaganda in Europe in the early part of the 20th century, you guys have become the hacks we were warned about.

Thursday’s show before Jan 1 Hearing
Generally enjoy the show but intro to Hearing Was not very serious at all. Kept repeating Republican talking points. What happened is really serious but there was no sense of that. Shocking.

    Tulsa Massacre
With all due respect, what is Biden supposed to do re: reparations? The republicans will filibuster anything helping anyone. And the house did pass a bill for white supremacy hate crime. Republicans voted against. All of these issues can be addressed if African Americans will turn out and vote. Democrats and Biden’s hands are tied. I 100% support and hope the attorney can get a win for the Tulsa victims. But, to be disappointed in Biden and the Dems is misguided

    Sad about AT&T Sponsorship
I heard an advertisement from AT&T that n today’s show. That’s a company who supports TX and their voter suppression as well as the suppression of women’s rights. I will no longer listed to your podcast.

    Afghanis interview
‘Who do you blame?’ What kind of interview question is this?’ We did not enter Afghanistan for human/woman rights. The US planted the seeds of women rights, literacy, human rights etc. Now it’s up to people to grow them…

    vocal fry
the plague of young, so-called 'professional' broadcasters... rampant, out-of-control vocal fry. it's the Gen Z 'accent', or is it Millennials, too? i scarcely hear a podcast without the inexcusable, nearly unlistenable affectation. i can't hear the content over the unrelenting, nails-on-blackboard rasp of Vocal Fry. if you (podcasters) don't know what the term means, look it up... and please, please stop!

    Virginia is the Best…
She and Jacob Weinberg got me thru the first Trump phase. I’d give them a boatload of stars if I could. Thank you for not leaving us, Virginia.

    Reporting should be objective
We have been very loyal and supportive of Trumpcast for the past 5 years. Virginia and her team produced important and meaningful shows that helped people deal with our crazy reality. However, during democratic primaries, the first time we were seriously put off by her comments about Bernie Sanders. We were supporting another candidate but felt it was absolutely inappropriate and offensive to Bernie who deserves a lot of respect for his life of service! Finally, the recent show What Next: The Palestinian Perspective left us very disappointed! We were actually arguing with the “journalist” producing the show! It is great to show Palestinian perspective on the conflict, but it needs to be good journalism, well researched, based on facts, representing a true objective picture. We are on the left on Israeli-Palestinian conflict, study this topic a lot, disagree with current Israeli policies and construction on territories, we also lived in Israel, supported peaceful and safe solution for Palestinians and Jews, and have seen the conflict first-hand. The show presented an absolutely one-sided story, not supported by facts or history, to name just a few: that Jews lived on that land for at least 3000 years (that’s how old Jerusalem is which was their Jewish capital, where Kings David and Solomon ruled the land, and the location of both Jewish temples destroyed and occupied by Romans, Greeks and many others). Moreover, the UN decisions of 1948 of establishment of the State of Israel offered a two state solution, which was rejected multiple times by Palestinian leaders throughout the past 70 years. In addition, Jerusalem came under Israeli control in 1967 not because they occupied it without a reason, but because Israel was attacked by 6 countries and won the war which resulted in return of parts of Jerusalem. When I lived in Israel, there was no problem for Palestinians to travel through the country and work in Israel - which many of them preferred, but then intifada started and there was a huge rise in terrorism which forced Israel to build walls and close borders. I am not saying all those decision were correct or the only possible solutions, but unless you live there, or study both sides, or present an objective picture, you are not doing service to either side. I have friends who are Palestinians from Gaza (they currently live in the US, but have parents in Gaza) and they don’t agree with your reporting as well. Please, do a better justice to these complicated issues. Or don’t do it at all.

Same taking points as failing MSM
The mantra of the Leftist Media Types “Trumps Election Lie” “The Big Lie” unfounded Baseless claims of a stolen election” but offer no insight into why the claims are a lie. At least the Trump party claims the election was stolen followed by some evidence, sworn testimony, Poll workers Testimony, Project Veritas and the “art of the steal” -Navarro report -all pointing to the same thing, and didn’t Time Magazine boast about how Dems stole it? If you step outside the NYC media cult bubble, and actually speak to the majority of the country, you would know that American’s knew your party was going to cheat with the mail in ballots months before the election. Where the D party Effs up is that they always over play their hand and get caught. More votes than registered voters. Videos of shredding trucks shredding ballots and on and on. They are great at executing and pulling off a stolen election, but never have a plan for the long game.. like forensic audits of fake ballots and fractionalized voting algorithms in tabulators. We saw the votes switch on Nov 3rd on live TV. I love hearing alternative opinions but just saying “ The Big Lie” isn’t an argument. I’ll be checking back when the Truth is revealed about “ The Virus” and The Big Lie” but you guys won’t investigate or report anything that would leave the viewer/listener an opportunity to come to their own conclusion.

Using Trumps name for your own gain!
75 million votes for him! 75 million Americans. You may want to rethink your thoughts. And honestly using his name to make money and views...and he’s the problem??
  • khaosoutlaw
    Liberals smh
The greater populace voted for him both times you guys stole an election and guess what when your gas is at 4 dollars a gallon and you can’t get a good paying job and the government overstep their boundaries don’t be whining and complaining you voted for him you done voter fraud deal with it until 2024 and we get another Republican and fox your guys mess

    My favorite podcast
Trumpcast was the id, ego & super-ego of sane and responsible American political journalism. Thank you Virginia, Melissa, Jacob, et al for drifting further left with me. Just one more 5 star review for the road! I hate to hear y’all leave, but I also thank God it finally happened 🙏🏼. See you on the internet 🤓

    Don’t stop cause he won’t
Trumpism is here to stay for a while. Perhaps a generation. It was here before he arrived but was the silent stream of consciousness in both the the Republican Party and our country overall. He may not be president for now but what he created will still be there...voting, running, and, sadly, winning elections at all levels. This podcast shouldn’t end. Change it from the “Trumpcast” to the “Trumpismcast”, because we’re going to be fighting Trumpism for a long time to come. Plus, we need to stop the inevitable slide towards the “forget & forgive over time leading to normalization and acceptance” mindset that will hit the GOP and our society overall. We need your podcast and podcasts like yours to stand guard to prevent this from returning in the future.

    Don’t go!
As long as Donald Trump is alive, he will be a danger. Trumpcast, the Lincoln Project and others need to keep the pressure on! Trump’s defeat and “have a nice life” were just the end of the first act. We need to use Trump to split and destroy the GOP. Provoking him will be hugely helpful in that cause.

    I’m Thankful
I appreciate your optimism in thinking that this will one day “be over.” It won’t. Ignorance and hatred won’t go away in our lifetimes. To think otherwise is foolish. My school de-serrated in about 1971. In my rural county Trump got almost 90 percent of the vote in 2016 AND in 2020. These people are not changing and are not going anywhere. Someone like Sherman will have to March through the south and to the sea the way he did in the last Civil War and make these people howl. Then in another hundred years ago be prepared to do it again and pretty much in all the states too. Hatred is bad and it’s nationwide .

    Careful what you wish for
Virginia Heffernan is just amazing. She is a master of the English language. I’m always amazed how she can talk to a guest, and ad lib a new analogy so eloquently. And her opening diatribes are akin to spoken poetry. Sometimes I get lost in her rhetoric and have to rewind to parse out every last word. And the reading of the tweets- such a simple way to remind us these are the words of our former President. I will definitely be looking for her next project. I feel like I wished on a monkeys paw when trump lost, because it means this show will end.

    I enjoy this but...
Virginia, when you interview your guests, your questions to them are drawn out and so long... it truly just gives the impression you just like hearing yourself speak. It’s truly annoying. Keep it succinct!

    Laugh, cry, repeat
I tuned into this podcast during the end of the 2020 election and love it. Virginia has the a rare combo of shrewd political analysis and insights, the offbeat sense and sensibility of a Wes Anderson heroine and the irrereverant enthusiasm of a labradoodle puppy play date. Truly a must listen in these dark and confusing days. Thank you!
  • SeanConvoy
    Usually excellent
I find this podcast usually excellent. However, the most recent episode focusing on Javanka’s art collection was below the level of discourse I’ve come to expect. I’m not sure if you were being ironical, but talking about somebody’s art collection in a political podcast it’s arguably more tacky then the art collection question.

    Yay! Gloaty McGloatface!!!
Virginia was my Sherpa to happy land following November 3rd. Her refusal to stick to holding her breath and waiting for the AP to get around to it, helped to break the seal on my bottled up joy. The witty intros are followed by great discussions. Hope you enjoy!

    Viva Virginia!
My debt of gratitude to Virginia Heffernan is incalculable. Fearless, charmingly inquisitive, smart as hell, she has kept us informed and steady. Her intros are literary gems worthy of publication, delivered with just the right homiletical flourish. I truly hope she soon has time to write the book. The vanities of the Trumpites come to dust in her hands. Viva Virginia Heffernan!
