Stories shared on the TED stage are seen and heard by millions around the world. But some ideas can’t be shared in the open — there are stories that are too risky, painful, or controversial. Sincerely, X provides a space to share powerful ideas anonymously. Stories that deserve to be heard, from people who remain hidden.

    Ehh
I feel lukewarm about this series. I've known Sarah Kay's work and think her poetry is beautiful and her performances compelling. She just doesn't do what a good host could do with these subjects. I find myself excited at various episodes, and then disappointed at how they're executed.

    Great bones
I love some of these episodes!! This show has a great foundation and great bones and if they stick with it, it could be quite bingeable and something I keep in my wheelhouse for a long time to come

    Hard to follow
I loved the idea of this podcast, and tried listening to 4 episodes, because I really wanted to like it! But the transitions from the intro, middle of the show, and the end seemed really awkward, and making it hard to follow.
  • sincerely, disappointed :(
    Love the concept….
I LOVED the original season of this podcast and was so excited to see it was coming back. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of the direction of the new season(s) / host. I had an extremely difficult time listening to the Ghost Writing episode because of such strong and clear opinions of the host… I’m not sure I’ll keep listening. The concept of being able to discuss controversial or topics that open the person being interviewed to potential backlash was only perpetuated by the host.

    Disagree with the host opinion
It was a bit annoying that the host kept insisting what the ghost writer does is taboo / unethical. As a person who is not skilled at writing I actually was wondering how to contact this guest or find others like him! I have a friend who is so much better at putting words together to describe anything, and she is our wordsmith guru. But I have no interest or patience in learning that skill. Exactly what the guest said

The Ghost / None of your Business
I was excited this show came back, but I’m finding the host to be judgmental and insensitive during the episodes. I had to stop listening to the ghost episode because Sarah’s bias came off so strong and it did not seem fair to the guest.

    Love this show but...
The ghost writer episode was very hard to listen to. The host’s opinion is clear and completely understandable, given that she identifies as a professional writer and poet. I would wonder how a non-writer, non-poet, average person would feel about this topic. I for one (as a regular person) would fall on the side of indifference, and was a little unsettled at the hosts passionate vehemence toward the story’s subject. The host shouldn’t be such an integral part of the show, maybe a guest host would have been a good idea for this particular episode. The episodes are usually, (for lack of a better word) deeper than this. I hope Sarah Kay doesn’t inject herself, her bias, and her opinion so completely into the topic. Please just host the show, don’t let the show become about you. I think all of the other episodes have been great, and even moving at times. Thank you.

Wish the host was more connected and human
First felt seriously disappointed during the ghost writer episode. It’s one thing to have a different opinion but she was super unwelcoming and rather than listening to his story she inserted her judgement. Second is the latest episode about the Trans guest. She was so cold and removed. He shared vulnerably and she sort of just left him hanging with silence, and went from one question to the next without engaging or being human. Hoping she finds a better way to connect with the guests.

    Incredible listen!
Intriguing, thought provoking, educational, and overall incredible! I have thoroughly enjoyed every single episode of this show! Definitely worth your time, to listen, and absorb! Wonderful job!

    The Ghost
The host was not compassionate to the ghost writer or his clients. Not everyone is comfortable writing or speaking, and most people don’t have time to take an entire writing course for a speech. A best man could be working full time while earning a degree in mathematics or attending trade school. A stay at home mom who is grieving the lost of her grandmother who raised her can’t take off time to write a perfect speech to honor her loved ones memory. Asking some people to give a speech would be as daunting to them as asking me to fix your car would be. It would be better (and still a sincere and caring gesture) if I paid someone to do it. I think the ghost handled himself very maturely.

    Awesome show
Love this show and the unique stories it presents from real people and their successes. The Ghost Writer episode was really eye opening, but the host was pretty judgmental about the topic. Perhaps that topic hits too close to home. Overall great episode and great production. More episodes please!!

    The Ghost
I completely related to what the guest is saying. It’s never been easy for me to communicate my feelings on paper. It’s much easier for me too show my feelings than write it down, there are many times in my life when I could’ve used someone like him to help me express what I struggled to say. Also he did a great job of calmly explaining his perspective when the host very clearly disagreed with what he is doing and kept pushing him.

Why was the host so rude to the ghost writer?
I normally really love this podcast but I’m listening to the ghost writer episode and it’s so uncomfortable. The host clearly hates ghost writers... but why? She literally said she does something similar to him, but what she does is above ground... don’t have someone on the show just to talk down to them.

    So glad you’re back!
Love this podcast. It’s real, often powerful. Thanks for the new episodes!

    Great Content, but..
..the sound production is horrible. Who puts upbeat, funky music behind a tragic story!? It’s distracting and takes away from the story.

    Love it BUT...
I love this show... my only issue is... I miss it! Please more episodes!

    Coming back?
Does the new cover art mean they’ve decided to put the rest of season 2 on Apple Podcasts?
  • Riss237237
    Eye opening
    Well worth listening to.

    Ridiculous
Worthless to listen to these. Nothing will ever change unless people say the hard things out loud — letting others know who they are — even if it makes others uncomfortable.

    Disappointed fan.
I remember stumbling upon this gem 2 years ago and zipping through all the episodes. So imagine my disappointment when I hear that the rest of the episodes are not only going to be exclusively on Luminary, but have to be paid for. It’s a disservice to fans who’ve been waiting forever for new episodes, and as much as I ADORE Sarah Kay and was really excited to tune in, I’m left with the only option of having to subscribe to yet another streaming service. I’m sorry, but no, thank you. How about just teaming up with advertisement agencies and making it free for all, just like other podcasts do?

    Frustrated
Great podcast with amazing stories and ideas. However, it’s really frustrating that we have to use another resource to listen to the additional episodes. Keep the podcast on the podcast app, please! 😕

    Disappointed...
This was a really interesting podcast to listen to. I’m very disappointed that it has been moved to a pay to hear platform.

    Original
Very fresh and unique content. I really enjoy the stories. Keep em coming! Where is season 2????

    Who’s story is it?
As an adoptee who found my birth parents over 20 years ago, I understand completely the longing and necessity of finding out who they are. Not knowing, and having requested information from the adoption agency, and realizing the person telling me this non identifying information had all the answers right there and I couldn’t see them, felt ridiculous and unfair. These DNA tests make what was once a really difficult journey so much simpler. Having answers, no matter what they are, completes the life of searching and wondering for adoptees. More and more often I also hear stories about men who have raised children only to find through one of the tests that they are not the biological father. Nothing can take away the parenthood of the people who raise and love the children they adopted. That’s the most important thing to remember.

    Not getting another app
I’m not downloading another app. It’s really disappointing that they’re going to luminary-I’m not putting a separate app on my phone for one podcast.

    Can’t listen with this host…
I don’t like June Cohen’s voice and don’t think her voice is suited for broadcasting. Her inflection, cadence, emphasis on certain words, etc… bother me so much so that I can’t continue listening. Please get another host.

    Used to love
I loved the stories and could not wait until the second season, but now luminary come on 🙄. Like why can’t podcast just get their stuff together and be on one thing I would pay for it just not 5 different platforms to consume the content.
  • mrizzo83
Great idea used instead to forward the “feminist” movement
After the first few episodes the podcast turns to feminist propaganda. I really hope moving forward they get back to the root of what this podcast should be about
  • ChristineJack
    WOW 😯
This is so real and poignant! It’s important to understand the future of changing opinions about the brain. We need shows like this to bring us to different peoples mindsets. Because it’s anonymous, you can see more truth in their stories.

    Sarah Kay is incredible.
I love Sarah Kay and was brought here by her poetry. It’s so comforting to hear her voice, it has a special cadence. Can’t wait to keep hearing these stories

    Give it a chance
I’m in love with this podcast. I usually listen to crime podcasts, but there’s something about this podcast that sucked me it. I love it.

    What happened to the series
Did they end the series I haven’t found any new episodes in months this was an awesome series
  • Azermerlinn
    Next season?!?
I LOVE this podcast, it made me think about subjects that I was completely unaware of, and I completely understood why the speakers chose to remain secret. I also found how I can make changes in my own viewpoints of what others are experiencing gaining empathy for parts of myself that I would often choose to steer away from. This podcast is BOLD by facing those things in life head on! Brillant!
  • BuffaloNic
    Worthwhile but overproduced
I find this an interesting podcast but the music often makes it feel overproduced. People speaking truth to each other is interesting enough. Good conversation doesn't need to be jazzed up with music. I have notived this trend in other podcasts and think it detracts and distracts from the content.
  • Magzmom
    This podcast is wonderful
Rough and raw and real. I hope there will be more seasons.
