    Interview episodes have awful audio
I love this podcast. Simon does an excellent job recounting the stories of how movies got made, but the episodes that include interviews are shockingly poor quality. There is no excuse for such a good podcast, running for this long, not to have its interview audio quality fixed by now. Learn how to do it, do it right. Hire someone to show you, if that’s what it takes. This is your brand. Your content is great. I would be embarrassed to release the interview segments in their current state.

    For movie lovers
Such a great discovery. Stands above most of the film focused podcasts. Interesting and entertaining. I do appreciate Simon’s approach and thoughtfulness.

Great podcast discovery. Saved 20 episodes and then came back for more!
You won’t find IMDB trivia here. Simon extensively researches each film, uncovering fascinating behind the scenes stories; stories I’ve never heard or read anywhere before. Bonus for the box office information at the end of each segment gives context to time period by mentioning films each title was up against.

    Ummm, uh, uhmmm
Great concept rendered completely unlistenable by all the stuttering, uh’s, and ummm’s every ten seconds by the host.

    Well researched and entertaining!
Two films covered in each podcast (total runtime under an hour.)I’ve been listening for 4 years and Simon is a wonderful storyteller. Strong research, great context on when the film was released (including other films in the top 10 at the time), and a delightful presentation. Simon is the real deal - a film writer for decades with deep knowledge and respect for how movies get made. And he’s such an entertaining speaker.

This Podcast has all the bits and bobs you could want!
This podcast is very well put together. The time, effort, and attention to detail is very apparent and I think because of all of the information this is what makes this absolutely great podcast. From a young age I’ve always loved stories radio television and film and this really dives into the heart of how things are made. I’m never getting presents like the behind the scenes book of Jurassic Park this is just like that only two movies every single episode and with little snippets and behind-the-scenes information of things that I never would’ve seen discovered myself. So if you love movies and love the celebration of how they’re made and do yourself a favor an listen to this podcast.

A very in depth production look at popular films
Simon is a one man wreaking crew with all the in and outs of production for popular films over the past generation. No need for co-host banter, just the facts and interesting at that. Thanks for enlightening deep dive, Simon!

    Brewed to Perfection
Okay. I overshot it with the headline. It isn’t perfect. He talks a little too fast, but he’s talking about his and my love, film, with audible passion, so it’s worth rewinding to catch what you missed. Some episodes, like any series of any medium, don’t give you what you think they should (The Terminator: Genisys ep comes to mind. I was hoping for a deep dive into the creation of the screenplay because that’s where the film really shows it’s bananas but he skipped over that part of the process). But most of them delivered what I wanted: complete, very intriguing stories with a beginning and an end about movies I have seen and love intensely or hate vehemently told with gusto.

The Infectious Affection of Simon Brew
Upon first discovering Film Stories, I would exclusively listen to titles of previous interest. But I’ve found myself broadening my selection just to continue listening to Brew’s almost bashfully heartfelt accounts of the production process. Though favoring mainstream films, Film Stories speaks to any true movie lover in its observance of the magic of cinema and the challenges of seeing that alchemical process to the end. I never thought I’d be equally engaged in the making of Sexy Beast and The Flintstones, but Brew does it and good on him for it.

    Fun and informing!
Love Simons voice. Puts on a one man show and talks about his research explaining how some of our favorite movies get made. He has a wonderful voice and doesn’t sound like he’s just reading off a script, also is constantly throwing out his opinion on the topic and references other movies. Is truly one of the most underrated movie buffs. As someone with autism this show is very calming and informative to me. I just found out about it and now I have 150+ eps to burn through during my holiday break. From St George,Utah,USA. Simon, your wonderful voice and knowledgeable is heard worldwide! Congrats!

    A Movie Lover's Dream
Quick and easy and fun. Every episode is around forty minutes, so that's around twenty minutes per movie. I have been reading behind-the-scenes articles about Hollywood for years, and somehow Simon Brew still seems to find some new details to reveal. Very addictive.

    Best film podcast out there
I used to hate podcasts because they are mostly people bickering. This is not. This is pure fun. I am absolutely addicted to it. It's humble, positive, narrative and informative. Love the host. I listen to this every time I need to chill. Thank you from Mexico, MR Brew

    How to make it happen
Film Twitter brought me here. Francis Coppola said that cinema was an art form waiting for technology to make films happen. In a similar manner, the tales behind the movies were also waiting for the invention of the Podcast to make Film Stories with Simon Brew happen. Myself an 80s baby, 90s child, many of Simon Brew's bits and bobs bring back youthful memories of pouring over Premiere magazine stateside. Two movies per episode, two peas in a pod, plug two print magazines on the stands, Film Stories and Film Stories, Junior. The world of entertainment filled not only with examples of storytelling but how to make it happen. Here are stories to learn from and ask of ourselves what are the stories we'd like to leave behind? Simon Brew, a master of ceremonies and a class act. Enjoy!

    My favorite podcast on iTunes
Simon’s podcast is like going back to film school for me. He has enriched my love of filmmaking as a process. Film Stories is several cuts above.

    Engagingly fraught cinematic nerdism
It’s great to hear a film show about popular and cult films. Arthouse and indie films have their place but Film Stories is about mainstream movies that I (largely) know and love. Every episode feels like one long apology, which only adds to its charm.

    The love is infectious
I’m not sure how anyone could listen to this and not feel like Simon’s love of films is not infectious. Yes, his accent (and at times his delivery) is troublesome, but then so is everybody’s until you get to know them. He cares so much about films; how could you not? This is a beautiful podcast prepared and cultivated by someone who loves what he is talking about!

    Must listen for movie fans
Stumbled upon this by accident, but quickly binged the entire catalogue. His fact filled journeys through movie history are detailed and digestible. I find myself always coming away with something I didn’t know and Simon even makes some movies I could care less about interesting. Only bad bad is, now that I binged all of them, I have to wait for my next fix to be more naturally doled out. Keep up the good work.

    Perfect podcast
Simon does great research and cuts right to the point. I wish all podcasts were this focused. Love his choices of both mainstream and more obscure films, well liked and maligned ones.

The film podcast you’ve been waiting for
I’ve been a fan of Simon’s work since his old Den of Geek days dating back to nearly a decade and this guy consistently knows his stuff while keeping his topics fascinating. It’s always so refreshing to listen to someone who has a passion for the trivia and long histories behind films that often go underlooked or forgotten. Fascinating, funny, surprising, and often touching; Film Stories is truly a film lover’s companion to that long commute!
