And on that day I shall sing freedom.
Once again, despite the constant campaign to unfairly malign him, Zack stands at the ready to strike back against the dead eyed dogmatism that threatens to enslave the world of comics at every turn. No matter how it shocks Dave, Zack refuses to bow to the growing hordes of the comic book consensus and I will stand by his side through every battle. Charlotte’s there doin her thing too. Zack, I will always and forever ride for you.

Best marvel podcast due to focus on analytic analysis
This is really good at breaking down what works objectively vs not working. Most comicbook analysis is far too focused on just ranting about not liking a story because continuity and power scaling and this channel instead gives insight. I appreciate Zach’s comments about pacing, Dave’s insight into the industry, and Charlotte from being the sole human to give a bleep about 70’s nova. Giving you 5 stars but am very mad you so massively skipped over so much Punisher ( especially Ennis’s Max run which is hailed as one of the best marvel runs of all time and is mentioned once but Remmender’s run is a read it all run, I can’t it’s maddening). And I’m too late and too broke to add the slavers onto the list. This list while carefully curated in general, has some werid highlights but also just alot of exclusions. The nam is another big one for me

    A great podcast
Going through Marvel comics year by year, they discuss in great detail the situation. Zack is often wrong about his take on comics but Dave generally sets him straight. I have listened to every episode and they will generally steer you in the right direction, minus their lack of recognizing that Busiek’s run on the Avengers is the greatest of all time.

Zack is from an alternate dimension and like can’t understand the most basic plot points. Otherwise an amazing podcast!

    Great podcast
For my podcast episode review, I decided to cover the "Convincible #1: The Best Invincible Podcast In the Universe" episode of the My Marvelous Year podcast. Unfortunately the My Marvelous Year podcast does not include numbering for their episodes, but the release date for this episode is 10/09/23. The My Marvelous Year podcast can be found on a number of various platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Patreon, and Podchaser. This episode is the first in a spinoff series of My Marvelous Year, where the hosts Dave and Zack try to convince each other whether Invincible is the greatest or worst superhero comic of all time. This episode covers issues 1-19 of Invincible, plus the Image Comics Summer Special. One thing I really liked about this episode is how Dave and Zack talk about the current state of the world when Invincible #1 came out. They talk about how it was January 22nd, 2003, and the first Invincible issue was releasing for $2.95. They also mention Robert Kirkman's original titles coming out around the time he started making Invincible, such as The Walking Dead and Battle Pope. It is really interesting to hear about how some of the other best-selling comic during this time were stories like Batman Hush, Ultimate Fantastic Four, and Transformers Generation One. Overall, I would rate this episode a 5/5. As a huge fan of Invincible, it is really fun to hear these outside perspectives on the comic and how they influence Dave and Zack's opinions of it.

    The Best Boys
Starting from episode one and it’s been quite the journey. Welcoming community and just an amazing journey through the years. Love these lovely folks! Dave, Zack, and Charlotte are some of the best voices in comics. Well thought out discussions, not shying away from unpopular takes. It brings a well rounded point of view to the comics community, and media literacy in general. Can’t recommend it enough. I truly love this show and it’s the highlight of my commutes every week. Give it a try. Your day would be better for it! PS: check out extra issues!

Spectacular Tour of the Marvel Universe!
MMY has been the show I’ve easily listened to the most since the podcast started. I’ve recently restarted back at episode one and find it just as enjoyable as the first listen. My favorite thing about the show is all the hosts ability to mix witty banter and thought provoking discussion. I would not enjoy the comics hobby as much as I do without the MMY crew. I can’t wait for my DC year to start!!

    Great Way To Experience Marvel
Love all of the commentary and the knowledge of the universe brought by this podcast! Very entertaining and great to listen to wether you are following along or not!

    Best Comics Podcast Ever!
If you are looking to learn about the marvel comics universe, I genuinely cannot think of a better resource than this podcast. Never listened to a podcast that is better structured for starting from episode 1 and enjoying the ride. Keep up the great work!

    Scared of comics? Start here.
This is, without a doubt, the best Marvel podcast releasing today. When I started reading comics I felt incredibly swamped with continuity, too many characters, and just too many to sift through. This has given me a weekly structure of what to read and allowed me to expand my taste, while being able to hear great personalities bounce off each other and give takes as well. I have recently joined their Slack group for Patrons and they’ve been super kind and supportive through this journey! A part of me is sad to know that there is a definitive end to this series, however I bet they have some great ideas for follow up series (like “My DeCompressed” Year” for DC, and I do expect royalties for that one)

    Great guide to Marvel
The My Marvelous Year difference is that they can talk about unredeemable trash like Hulk (2008) #1-6 for 45 minutes and have it be a compelling conversation.
  • Giant-Size Ryan
    Favorite Podcast
Dave Busting, The Charlotte Witch, and Zack “Rick Jones” Deane are the best hosts to take you through the best of Marvel Comics from its origins to today!

    Fantastic Comicbook Podcast
I found this show about a year ago so I’m late to the party but it’s quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. Dave, Charlotte, and Zack are fun hosts with great chemistry and a deep knowledge of not just Marvel comics but comics in general. I look forward to their discussions every week and have learned a lot about Marvel along the way even if Zack is about to be deeply wrong about One More Day. Also shout-out to Zack and Charlotte’s spin-off show Extra Issues which has been great for learning about non-Marvel/superhero books.
  • mio fitz
    Yes
I joined late and I’m making sure to read the comics before listening each episode which takes some time. So I’ve tried to find similar podcasts to keep me occupied between MMYs but nothing hits quite like this! Great chemistry. A wide range of takes. Good dumb jokes.

The podcast that really got me into comics
I have been following the podcast since I’ve been attending university in 2019 and it has single-handedly sparked my interest in comics before my time (pre-90s). Sure the silver age comics were dated but they were pretty funny to read and seeing the evolution of quality was the best part of it all. Thanks guys!

    Highly recommend
Excellent counterpart to Marvel by the month with entertaining (if not offbeat) takes by Zach and a mostly amused Dave. Definitely Patreon worthy. Maybe enough to get me to try Claremont’s X-men from the beginning….

    To much Marvel PC
Great idea, lots of good stuff but also way to much of playing Marvel’s PC police.

Charlotte, Dave, and Zach are an incredible team
This podcast is responsible for teaching me to appreciate superhero comics for the complicated, fascinating art form they are — not just Marvel but also some of DC as well as (especially through Charlotte and Zach’s spinoff Extra Issues) Marvel-superhero-adjacent comics like Watchmen and The Boys. Zach has taken undeserved flack over his progressive stances on certain issues and his iconoclastic ones on others, but I have to confess to agreeing with him something like 90% of the time — and more importantly it’s Zach’s willingness to offend the fans who consider themselves more knowledgeable that leads to some of the show’s best discussions. The chemistry among the three cohosts is at this point just fun to listen to: Dave’s encyclopedic knowledge and Charlotte’s academically-infused francophone and generally European insights blend beautifully with Zach’s pushback on received “truths” to create an often surprisingly deep experience, week after week.

    Great podcast!
This podcast is what helped get me into comics Zack and Dave are funny and bounce off of each other perfectly.

one of the best marvel pods out there
had to write a review finally after Dave’s amazing “Sorry for 2004” song. dude is so talented. now in the show usually, the reading club is a great abridged history of the important high points in Marvel Comics history, even if you’re not doing the reading yourself. on top of that the stuff in Extra Issues where they cover MCU stuff and now the non MCU movies are also great. love the show

    Marvel Zombie?
Have you ever tried to read every issue of the Marvel Universe only to get to 1968 and swear off cheesy dialogue forever? This is your answer. Read every issue of Marvel Comics that you need to form a solid continuity foundation and appreciate the comics that are coming out today. Plus have a really good time laughing at these guys.
  • NotBAMF
    Top comic show!
I really like the gimmick of this podcast as the stars go through years in the history of Marvel comics! It’s a fun ride through the backlog of one of my favorite things, and the introduction of a new comic reader being along for the ride let’s you view it all through new eyes. Great stuff!
  • Gdpro
    Fun podcast
This is a pretty good show but it works best when all three hosts are present. Charlotte and Dave have the best insights.

    MMY Rocks!
The premise of this podcast, Dave is the experienced comics guru and Zack is the newbie diving in, using Marvel Unlimited to review the Marvel universe, year by year, is exquisitely executed! The boys have developed a great rapport, friendly and jovial, even when disagreeing, e.g. Zach refuses to acknowledge the greatness of Stiltman. We’re only in 1983, so you’ve got plenty of time to join and enjoy! Also, if you check them out on Patreon and sponsor at a $5/month level (I think), you get to join the Slack, which is filled with the wittiest comics fan chat on the inter webs. The addition of super fan Charlotte to the hosts has added new spark to conversations, which were already top-notch!

    Not true
Hey buddy, the host are the opposite of entertaining. If they focused on subject matter and far less on the host it would be much better

    Best comic podcast handsdown
It's just fantastic folks. Not only do they provide an easy to follow reading list to help fill in your knowledge gaps on Marvel comics, but they're funny to boot! The rapport between Zack and Dave is out of this world and while I'm not up to the Charlotte episodes yet I've only heard great things. Couldn't be a higher recommendation from me!

    Great Podcast
Started listening a couple months ago. Very entertaining even if you aren’t reading along. Best comics podcast I have found. I started listening because I didn't want to read alot of pre- 1970s comics, but still wanted the background. Jumped into the comics at 1975 and am currently on 1986.

    Best podcast dedicated to comics
No doubt about it the best.

    Fun overview of marvel comics
I’m not part of the reading club and never really got into reading comics, but wanted to brush up on my Marvel comics history and lore. I tried a few other podcasts, but this one was perfect. Zack and Dave’s overviews of the comics they cover give you enough detail to keep up with what’s going on without becoming overly dense, and they find just the right balance between information and entertainment. I enjoy the banter, which is something I rarely say of podcasts. Definitely worth a listen!

It’s great but we gotta talk about one Zack take
Yeah yeah yeah it’s great podcast but I gotta address the elephant in the room. For the vast majority of this pod, I have agreed with all of Zack’s takes. We are both insufferable leftist film bros who read way too many indie comics. He gets a lot of heat for it, but I also think Invincible is insipid trash. So I was shocked to my core when he did not like the closest thing to insufferable leftist indie gorno a major studio will ever give us: James Gunn’s masterpiece, The Suicide Squad. I don’t know if I will ever trust and/or love again after this betrayal. Seriously though, keep up the great work y’all. One of the best pieces of comics review content out there.

    Super fun for comic fans
Whether you want to read along through the history of Marvel comics, or you just enjoy listening to people have enthusiastic conversations about the stories, this podcast is lots of fun, and a very strong recommend!

    New Journey in 2021
As a person who reads at least 20 comics a week with zero friends to talk to about comics I wanted a podcast that talks about my passion. I love this so far. I’m on the 10th episode and while I normally don’t like spoilers I’ll be binging the show.

    #1 Podcast for Moms
Are you a mom? Then this is the podcast for you. Hosts Zach and Charlotte and recurring guest Dave frequently espouse the greatness of all moms, and sometimes they even talk about Marvel comics! Wowee! What’s not to love? Are you not a mom? No problem, since you are obviously a lover of moms, this podcast is for you too. Not for anyone that HATES Alpha Flight.

A great way to get into comics
I’ve always been interested in comics, but never started reading because it seemed to overwhelming to get into. This podcast has been great as a total novice. They provide a great background and it makes it super easy to read along to discover which series and characters I’m most interested in. Their summaries make it easy to skim the less interesting issues without feeling totally left behind and make this entire world much more manageable.

    A Marvelous Guided Tour
My Marvelous Year is a perfect guided tour through the Marvel comics universe from the beginning. The club covers the key highlights and must-reads from each year of Marvel from 1961 forward, and each episode is easily digestible, often funny, and always interesting. Whether you’re new to Marvel comics or have been reading your whole life, you’ll find the show entertaining and informative.
  • alexwaynemiller
    Such Marvelous. Much Year.
This has been my go-to podcast for comics for a years now. I have spent hours in the car listening to Dave, Zack, and Charlotte go back and forth talking about the great (and sometimes, not-so-great) comics throughout Marvel’s history. The slack community is great too, even if I forget that I’m in there half the time. 😅 Here’s to many more years! Cheers!
  • Pap3rcu7
Great show for anyone with even a little interest in Marvel Comics
I’ve been interested in comics my whole life, but have always found it really intimidating to try to actually sink my teeth into more than half a century of history and continuity. MMY makes it easy by guiding you through all of the best, most important, and weirdest Marvel stories year by year starting all the way back with Fantastic Four #1, offering context and historical insight for each comic covered. The original hosts Dave and Zack are thoughtful and informative, but with the recent addition of the delightful Charlotte as the third main host there’s never been a better time to start listening. Be sure to check out the companion podcast My Ultimate Year for a similar treatment of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe (which produced comics from 2001 through 2015)!

    Greatest Marvel Podcast!
This podcast is great! Starting out with Zack and Dave, it was a lot of fun seeing what Dave loved but Zack being the "newbie" just didn't click with. They have a fantastic dynamic and are fun to listen to. I love hearing Zack's hot takes on things. Later on a new host, Charlotte, is added to the podcast. I've only listened to a few episodes with her but Charlotte is a fantastic addition to the group. Definitely check this podcast out!

    Love the show
I started from the beginning a few months ago and I’m really enjoying it. I appreciate Zack’s high standards and willingness to go against conventional wisdom, and Dave’s encyclopedic knowledge and singing.

A newbie-friendly reading club for an otherwise intimidating body of work
I really appreciate the dynamic between Dave and Zack as they not only recap important and interesting moments in Marvel Comics history, but also provide insightful criticism at the same time. Zack is particularly good at drawing out deeper discussion about individual stories, and Dave provides context of how the tale fits into the larger framework and why it’s worth reading decades later. Listening to the show has helped me appreciate the comics medium in general, beyond just learning about Marvel continuity. Thanks guys!
  • JordyThePoet
    Wonderful show
Dave, Zack and Charlotte are always fun to listen to as they read through Marvel history and share their insights into the stories, art and progressions of the medium. Reading along (and trying to catch up) has become a great hobby, though I’m not sure what I’ll do with my free time once I’ve caught up!

Informative, Entertaining - The Whole Package
Figured I owe these two boys a review after the hours of free content I’ve enjoyed from them. Currently up to the 80s and loving what they’ve got to say. I came to this as a comic book intermediate, read a bunch but couldn’t stomach the super old stuff, and hearing them summarize and analyze this stuff has been interesting. And when they talk about stuff I have read, even better! Anyway they have a great dynamic, seem very kind, and I love them both. We live in a dark world and I want these two sweet little nerds to keep doing what they love and excel at. Thanks for everything Dave. And your guest. And stilt man is overrated
  • peptobsmol
    Great group, fun for comics
Everyone on the show has great dynamics with each other, and its a lot of fun to follow comics with them.
