    Amazing Content and Compelling Lessons
I’ve wanted to learn jazz piano for a long time now, and this has truly helped my motivation. Brendon is extremely talented and passionate about the craft, and it helps me to feel more excited. The content is digestible and starts from the very very beginning. Whatever level of piano you’re playing at this is a quality podcast for development. I’ve been playing piano for about a third of my life now, and the tips and tricks were still very helpful. They helped me to dive headfirst into the content and really want to learn more. Finally, the information can get very in depth, which is amazing. I love that it doesn’t just stay on the surface, but rather grows with you. Thank you so much for the time spent on the podcast, and I hope that others can come to find it.

    It’s a commercial
It seems like every episode lately is the same commercial for the school. We get it, you made an organized curriculum.

    Great show-inspiring instructor
Wow! I forget how I found this podcast but it is really cool! Brendon is so knowledgeable but most of all very personable. Sometimes he makes me laugh out loud. But he so truly wants me to learn jazz piano. He is great at instructions. He is inspiring and motivating. Love, love, love this podcast. Keep up the great work.

    The best podcast for musicians
I will address this review as a note to Brendan, whom I hope will see it: your podcast has really been a game changer for me, as a fellow music teacher (mostly guitar and learning piano) it is so clear, relaxed, well-paced, yet I really feel like I’m learning huge, master-level stuff every episode that I do happily integrate into practice. It’s stuff like this that makes me so happy these dumb little phones/internet exists. This is Berklee-level stuff at a $50k discount

    This stuff is amazing!!!!
The way Benden explains things and the way he is so laidback is amazing. He never ceases to explain information thoroughly, and his laugh is SO contagious. I can't help, but laugh when he does. Breden, thank you so much for this podcast. You have really helped me a lot. Thank you!

    Absolutely AMAZING!
I was a total beginner in jazz - the only thing I new about it was that I liked listening to it. I was already somewhat well-versed in playing the piano, but had no knowledge about playing jazz at all. I came across this podcast a month or two ago (attempting to find some free step-by-step jazz piano source), and was immediately shocked by the amount of free, simple, structured, and organized content. Already, I can ‘doodle’ around with playing jazz after only a couple weeks of using this podcast as my guide, and will continue to rapidly increase my skills in the following weeks and months. So, all that is to say, this podcast (combined with the associated website: https://jazzpianoschool.com), and all of the FREE transcriptions, notations, blog articles, videos, weekly licks, weekly podcast episodes (with material), interviews... contained therein, has not only given me a plan to start learning and playing jazz piano, but it has also given me hope that I too can be a jazz pianist. Thank you so much Mr. Brenden for all of the investments that you have made and are continuing to make in our jazz piano journey.

    Great Improv help and direction!
I love Jazz Piano School. This broadcast was very helpful. I was able to apply Brendon's lessons and could hear the results . I can't wait to keep practicing and playing the piano.

    Brilliant
I started playing piano 8 years ago in my mid-20s. I struggled to make any noticeable progress aside from getting better at sight reading sheet music. In 2 months of listening to this podcast and practicing daily for at least 10 minutes, I’ve learned more about how to sit down and play jazz songs than in the last 8 years. I started the main curriculum last week and look forward to growing further under Brenden’s excellent program!

    Superb Resource for All Levels
I've been noodling for years and making some progress, but BL's lessons have opened doors and vistas for me, solving problems. He takes his time and explains things very clearly and methodically, leaving no listener behind. Some episodes are skippable if you have experience, but overall this is a wonderful endeavor. Incredible to have such instruction available for free, thank you BL, here's that five-star review you really wanted.

    Great Jazz Education
I’ve been a classically trained musician for most of my life. I’ve never learned theory, though, so I began reading books and trying to learn as much as I can about it to learn how to improvise on tenor sax and piano. I recently stumbled upon your podcast and I’ve loved relearning the basics, but also how it all (scales, triads, etc) comes together and what the meaning is behind learning the basics to all the teaching tools through listening to amazing musicians and pointing out what they’re doing. It’s been awesome so far and I’m excited about what’s to come!!! Thank you 😊

    Great resource for any musician
I’m just getting started with piano and found this podcast and the website too. Only a few lessons in and I already know this is going to be a big help as I try to learn how to really play. Thanks!

    13 Episodes in 2 Days!
Talk about binging... I’m a new listener and I just finished the episode where Brenden told his audience about how he checks reviews every morning and is slightly disappointed when he doesn’t find a new one. His transparency made me laugh so here I am writing my first ever podcast review! Sitting in LA traffic has become more bearable. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’ve had private instruction off and on for about 8 years. So, I do fairly ok with reading music but didn’t really know which direction to take to improve. Whether I should hire another teacher or just try to work on my sight reading by picking up random pieces to play. I’ve sifted through a lot of YouTube videos in my search for direction. I felt stuck until I came along this podcast. Brenden gives clear direction on how to improve foundational skills and gives amazing tips on how to spice up your piano playing. So glad I found this!

    Too Much Self-Promotion
This podcast has some good ideas, but it is too long and stream of consciousness, and it spends way too much time each episode promoting products. I know one has to pay the bills, but I’m sick of skipping the first 15 minutes and then wading through 45 minutes to get 2 minutes worth of ideas. I’ve cancelled my subscription.

    Changed My Life
Brenden Lowe changed my life with his podcasts and youtube videos. I have checked out many many jazz piano teachers. Nobody does so much preparation, presents such student friendly instructions to all levels, and gives away more free downloads! Thanks, Brenden, from the bottom of my heart. Bruce Holtan

    Listening from the beginning
I’ve always wanted to play jazz and just now found this. I have a degree in piano performance (from about 15 years ago) but have never gotten to play anything in the realm of jazz before. I’m excited to start something new and teach a little as I go to my piano students as well. I’ve just finished the episode on 7th chords-episode 15 maybe- and I’ve learned a lot. I feel like I have a good background in theory, but there have been a couple things here and there that I didn’t quite understand and you’ve cleared them up for me! So good! Can’t wait to keep moving up through the episodes. Thanks!

    Great source and inspiration
JPS has a been a great set of podcasts- he starts at the beginner level- with the first podcast- but even then the exercises are fun and made me revisit the techniques. From there he moves forward into more jazz based concepts. As a hobbyist trying to break free from my classical training, but on a busy schedule with a full time job and kids- this is an invaluable resource. I head home excited to test new techniques and exercises.

    Fantastic resource
I just started this series and I think it’s great. I’m a drummer who started piano about a month ago. I went to the website to sign-up as a free member (which the early episodes say is available), but there are only pay options. However, I am able to access the materials in the show notes.

Dr. John (not THAT one) from Casey Iowa.
I am an experienced musician and think this podcast is awesome. A great review of basics which all of us need periodically, lots of interesting insights that are new for me, AND a wonderful little jolt of enthusiasm to boost morale. Thank you!

    Solid Jazz Theory
Brendan Lowe presents Jazz Theory in a way that is understandable to me. I really enjoy his conversation style, while he is actually teaching. I've learned a lot about chord progressions, substitutions, scales, modes and how they work together and how to use them.

Unparalleled resource for learning jazz piano
If you want to learn classical piano, you go to school and learn from a well-developed pedagogy that's hundreds of years old. Or, you learn from someone who went to one of those schools. Problem solved. If you want to learn jazz -- well, good luck. You can buy random books. You can scour the web for bebop licks. You can go to Berklee. Broadly speaking though, there is no structured pedagogy that will get you to where you want to go. Until now. Brenden Lowe has built that pedagogy with Jazz Piano School. And, he keeps improving on it. The podcast will give you a taste. I listened to about 10 episodes, then decided I had to get serious and subscribe fully to his courses. Try it yourself.

Jazz piano school helps me see clearly
I am a moderate skilled piano learner. Very far from where I'd like to be. This podcast gives me direction in what I do when I practice and is such a great resource for people who haven't had the opportunities to learn from a very young age the ins and outs of the keyboard, and It helps me as a high school student use my practice time efficiently because we all know there isn't enough time. Best resource I could ask for.

A great approach to learning jazz piano
There is so much great information including subtle details that can really make a huge difference in your playing and help to lessen the learning curve when trying to up your chops. Brenden has put together a great, insightful podcast that will get you to the next level.....and then the next level....rinse and repeat!

    These have been quite useful
I've been cherry picking these podcasts for a while now. I'd sign up for the course if I could, but... I'm a working jazz musician in a rural zone that likes only rock blues and country. Thank you Brenden for all you give for FREE. It's Karma.

    A Great Resource
Glad to have a place to send my piano students to get a fresh systematic approach to jazz. As a high school director, the more places I can send my students for great info, the better!

Keith Jarrett, Someone to Watch Over Me
This is the first Jazz Piano School podcast I have listened to. I am impressed with both the content and enthusiasm that Brenden Lowe brings to this. Excellent choice of material too. I'll certainly be checking out the other 99 podcasts and all that will follow. Here's to 100 more.

    Honestly? The Best I've Heard.
I have to admit that the Jazz Piano School, and Brenden Lowe, is the best online Jazz Piano school and podcast that I have found. Brenden lays it out systematically, step by step, and he is very personable. I highly recommend this podcast and school.

    Jazz Piano School
I have been playing piano for years but I had many "holes" in my understanding. Jazz Piano School has helped to fill those holes at an extremely accelerated rate. I love how Brenden has logically broken down the concept of jazz and presented a fresh way of looking at it. I also love how Jazz Piano School offers learning on multiple platforms for each subject (video, written theory, and practice sheets). This is a curriculum that easily rivals some of the best college programs. I feel like I'm studying with a seasoned jazz performer / instructor right at my computer. And the order of the subjects makes so much sense. I have grown in LEAPS and BOUNDS! I wish I had found this program YEARS ago. I started by listening to these podcasts about a years ago while driving to and from work. I was surprised at how my playing escalated simply by listening without looking at a keyboard; it was as if the Podcasts were unlocking something in my mind. After seeing the benefits of the podcasts, I eventually joined JPS and never looked back. This has to be the most thorough, most comprehensive jazz piano course on the internet. Thanks so much, Brenden, for creating this incredible program!

All aspiring jazz pianists need to watch this
Want to learn jazz piano? This 100th podcast along with 99 that came before it take you from nowhere to understanding how to play and what to practice. And if you're really serious beyond the podcasts, Brendan makes an entire jazz piano curriculum available on his website. Duke Ellington would call what Brendan does as a teacher to be "beyond category."
