Great show and a great episode
However, It is so sad that we even need this.

Obnoxious, condescending, arrogant…. I could go on & on
Capehart is everything wrong with journalism.

Great Show with the Great Keith Ellison
Can’t wait to read AG Ellison’s book! Such an insightful & brilliant man. Excellent questions from you, Jonathan! I will never forget the line from the closing arguments in the Chauvin trial: George Floyd didn’t die because his heart was too big, he died because Derek Chauvin’s heart was too small! As a footnote, I was a barista at a health food coop in Minneapolis when Rep Ellison was running for office and I had the great pleasure of serving him many times & enjoyed speaking with him. He’s very approachable & kind. He often used our little cafe area to work on his campaign. I listen to all your shows Jonathan, keep up the excellent work! I love you & I love your Aunt Gloria!

    An effeminate black man…
…for Democrats who love to see black people castrated for their pleasure.

    Love
I’ve just started listening to Jonathan’s podcast and am sold, 5+ stars, big fan. I’ve only heard 2 minutes and 45 seconds of the first episode with Michael Steele in 2016 so far and am drawn to the straight talking, truth telling, engaging dialogue. Refreshing to say the least. Jonathan’s a star xo

    Extraordinary Interview with Ty Seidule
Jonathan’s 2021 interview of Ty Seidule, the author of “Lee and Me: A Southerner’s Reckoning with the Myth of the Lost Cause”, is extraordinary. In these renewed days of book burning it is perhaps more relevant than ever. Jonathan is a very gifted interviewer who clearly stands out in a crowded field.

    Wonderful podcast
Jonathan is a much needed voice in media and podcasting. I so appreciate the viewpoints and nuance he brings to his many interviews and conversations. I don’t usually review podcasts but after his extraordinary interview with the fabulous Billy Porter I was moved to do so. What an amazing, moving, necessary conversation. Bravo!

    DeAngelo interview
Wow, was she ever a racist. Talking about race during a dinner party the entire time. I’m a little hesitant to call out someone I don’t know on issues of race. You two were talking about those whom have married someone of another race and announce it. Jon, this is ‘you’ being together with a white man and always reminding us of it… We all need to look at our own issues first.

    Thank you Jonathan Capehart
In addition to your podcast, I’ve been watching your show on MSNBC (and I am not a TV news watcher). What stood out to me was the way in which you paused after every false statement, and said the words “that statement was false.” We need ALL of our professional news anchors and commentators to do this. Thank you Jonathan Capehart.

Thank you so much for this podcast. It was spellbinding. I'm a 60’s activist and now age 74. My generation has been waiting on this generation to get smarter and get active because if you get smarter you'll definitely get active. People are beginning to ACTUALLY believe that BLACK LIVES MATTER.

    Washington & Lee debunked
The interview with Ty Seidule was excellent, full of not widely known details about the school’s blatant historical efforts to maintain white supremacy on its campus.

I love Jonathan’s Tv show and I love his podcast where he digs deeply.

    Consistently worthwhile
This is the most consistently interesting podcast that I follow. I always listen, even when the title doesn’t grab my attention, because Jonathan Capehart’s choices of guest and topic are always worthwhile. He is a skilled interviewer. He also has a good speaking voice and none of the annoying verbal tics of so many podcasters.
  • PuzzlesLady
    Sounds questionable
If the reason for the present white racist behavior can be explained by the manufacturing changes in America and the fact that white people don’t feel heard, what would explain the racist behavior from the inception of this country against Native Americans and enslaved African Americans? Some the discussed explanation could have some value to explain the extent of the current devotion to their de facto leader and movement, but most of it seems like an excuse to give cover to hateful behavior.

    One great interview after another
For starters, Jonathan lines up great guests, and with his spirited, informed, and racially astute approach to his chats, listening is always a tour de force experience.

Really Good Interview with Andy Kim
I just listened to Jonathan’s interview with Representative Andy Kim of New Jersey. The discussion was wide-ranging and thoughtful. Very much worth your time. Ok, now I listened to the fantastic interview with Rebecca Carroll, author of Surviving the White Gaze. I have to take this opportunity to promote the podcast done by Angela Tucker, The Adoptee Next Door. Angela is also a Black woman raised by a white family, in her case in Bellingham, WA, a very white community. Worth a listen!

    The BEST interview
This interview with Heather McGhee is by far the most intelligent, informative, and enlightening interview of many brilliant ones I have listened to.

Cape Up is one of the best
Mr Capehart is a great interviewer. I think he knows his subject, pays attention, and listens to his guests when they talk.

    Charles Blow
Loved this interview! I read his memoir and am reading The Devil You Know right now. His manifesto makes so much sense and he presents it so well. I am ready to support his campaign when he runs for office! Jonathan, I also enjoy seeing you on your new gig with PBS Newshour.

Hearing this made me cry and laugh and everything inbetween! I seriously cannot understand how in the world South Carolinians missed the chance to have this brilliant man be their Senator.

    Excellent Interviews
One of my favorite podcasts for bringing brilliant political thinkers into my world. If you’re listening to the rest of the standard political/social podcasts, then you need to add Cape Up to up your polisci game.

    A Favorite!
Always thoughtful, smart, and kind. Capehart engages in real conversations that capture a big-picture political moment and an intimate, personal connection with guest, at the same time. He has a real gift as an interviewer, chooses great guests, and is just a pleasure to hang out with. I’m disappointed only when the episodes are too short!

    Chris Coons
Mr. Capehart, I always enjoyed watching and listening to you whenever you were on A.M Joy on the weekends. I especially enjoyed whenever you sat in for her. You’re brilliant. You teach me every time you speak. I especially enjoyed you podcast with Senator Chris Coons. Your knowledge base and questions made the interview fly by. Additionally there was so much I didn’t know I feel compelled to listen twice so I can retain all I heard. It was was frightening knowing the devastation an Judge Amy Coney Barrett will do to our courts and our government. It was bad enough as a survivor of rape as a teenager that I needed an abortion. I thought it would ruin women and families lives for generations, but I didn’t understand she’ll undo marriage equality but to undo environmental and the various government protection agencies. I’m in a panic wondering how we will ever fix what the gritting and wreckage of the Trump presidency? I was unaware of Senator Coons impressive education and what a genteel well seasoned dedicated public servant he’s been. And I knew I liked Joe Biden, I remember you calling him Uncle Joe and now I know why your family likes him. I pray Trump doesn’t strong arm this election and we all together can help build our republic back better. He is a perfect president for our broken Nation. It’s a shame you didn’t take over the AM Joy. I don’t watch anymore on the weekends. It doesn’t have the same vibe. Nonetheless your podcast is a must for me to stay well informed. Thank you! Sally

Great podcast but please put put your devices on silent during recording!
The content of this podcast is fantastic and I appreciate that I get as much if not more out of these episodes as I do from, say, Ezra Klein’s which are so freaking long. BUT since he started doing the virtual recording, it seems like every single episodes features the dinging of phones/instant messages. Please put your devices on silent and ask your guests to do the same.

    First rate!!
Jonathan is always sane, thoughtful, mature in times that are so very stressful. Bravo!
