Beautiful, Dark, Thrilling, Challenging - But Can’t Finish a Story.
Dark Dice is fabulous, inspiring (for my own games), chilling, gritty, beautiful, thoughtful, heartwrenching, fun fun fun - unfortunately, their favorite plot twist is taking a hiatus. So, it’s hard to get all wrapped up in a narrative when they’re probably going to “take a pause” within a few eps and leave you hanging. I get the complexities and pressures of life and producing something this beautiful - and I don’t fault them at all. But a fair warning to potential listeners. You may get totally enthralled with this show, and then lose them.

    Season 1&2 excellent
Voice actors and story of 1&2 are awesome! Season 3 ok but Viviana character is super annoying and the other characters say um an awful lot. Sorry I had to stop listening:(

Ok show until you bring in garbage
Don’t see what pride has to do with a made up podcast! Let alone ask what’s your pronouns! Total garbage. Thanks for saving me money. Canceled all my subscriptions to this junk.

    Such a fan
I listened to The Long Road backwards (season two first with the exception of the recovery episode) cus I like nonlinear storytelling and a heavy dash of mystery….and I was excited to hear Jeff

    Great show!
This is an awesome D+D podcast! I’ve been a player for at least 20 years! The DMs are fantastic and I can picture everything from the detailed descriptions! Also Peter Lewis is my favorite voice actor btw. Also the white vault chef's kiss fantastic!! Keep up the amazing work!!
  • Leble87
    Enjoying the story!
I never played dungeons and dragons, but I tried this podcast while patiently waiting for the next White Vault story. I didn’t know what to expect, but I really got pulled into the story! So fun to hear the Svalbard team on a different adventure!

5 stars but… kill Jeff goldblum. Please.
Jeff goldblum just kinda ruins any fantasy type environment in my opinion. He should stick to Hollywood and let someone else have a chance at voice acting who can even remotely sound interested. He sounds likes he bored and would rather be on screen. Thus ruining my whole mental image. Go home jeff goldblum. Or roll a zero and die or whatever. Stab him with a cursed dagger and get back to good story and acting.

Long time listener… blah blah bla…
I’m a subscriber to various ttrpg channels. As a gamer I personally love hearing the nuts and bolts of the game. That said, your story, characters and world are fantastic. Just what the 13 & 30 year old in me wants to hear. In terms of gaming podcasts, DD is right up there with the big boys. More Dark Dice-Please. I can see him…

    Terrifying and Excellent
This is such a scary, crazy, cool adventure. Love the horror, writing, and production and DND aspects.

    The BEST!
I’ve been listening to D&D podcasts for a few years and this has got to be the best! So many others have poor audio, people who don’t know how to play, and DMs who keep it so light there is never a feeling of consequences. This one has it all. Great voice acting, awesome production and foley work, story arc and narration are superb with a bit of humor thrown in. WOW! I’m only on the 8th episode. Top notch. 😃

    #1 Podcast Of All Time
Dark Dice is by far my favorite show to date. It is beyond addicting, once you start you won’t want to stop! With it’s twist and turns it’ll have you second guessing your own sanity!

    Intrigued but hard to hear
I’m so intrigued on this journey, so many surprises around every corner. I feel the story teller (dm) said let’s do a survival of the fittest. Lol My only complaint is that the background noise can be so loud during the action, that it drowns out the story teller. At times I’m left feeling lost and it’s this way for 10-20 minutes. I listen to the recap for the next episode to try to explain what happened.

    Amazing, addictive, satisfying!
I love this podcast! LOVE IT! It takes me back to my youth and playing D&D with my friends. Of course it would if all my friends were insanely talented voice over artists. Wonderful story, production, and music. If you don’t know D&D they explain it so well! Bless you Father Sindri Westpike for your interventions when I started to get lost; asking for clarification! I feel like these folks are my friends now from the wonderful personality they put into the show. Do yourself a favor and listen. You will get hooked. Oh and … Do you seek him?

    Very well done
Could not ask for more this show is a very unique blend of real play and what almost feels like an audio drama, filled with awesome sound effects and amazing voice actors, I’m always thrilled to hear the next episode.

    Best D&D Podcast So Far
As an avid D&D fan I love listening to this podcast. It’s explains a lot and the story is terrific. The voice actors/players are hilarious and the sound effects are great for the podcast. I would definitely suggest this podcast to anyone who is interested in playing D&D.

    Wanting to love it…
There are a few things I really like: good production quality, good acting, and I love the blend of tabletop activity & post-scripted narration. I wish I were more of a straight horror fan, however, which is likely who the show is truly aimed at. So it ends up a little blah for me sometimes, a little too much horror/gore, but it’s a mostly satisfying podcast.

Lost their way and a former fan
Season one was fantastic! Loved it and recommended to all my friends. Season 2 has been pure disappointment. Not even the involvement of JeffGoldblum Can help the show. And the last episode with the ridiculous in-story advertising for a mattress was the final straw for this former fan.

    🤯
I never played D&D in my childhood. That being said, I’ve listened to seasons 1 & 2 three times each now. You guys are doing something remarkable imo at least. The musical score, the story & banter. I litcannot get enough and I’m starting to very much so, want to try D&D or tabletop games after hearing this. Soren is too good. Thanks-
  • oinicknayme
You guys n gals are Great!
Interesting and has its humor. “Sure, I’ll help you find the missing children,” Then she cackles menacingly. “ yeah-good times.” More from the drow voice actor, please, that dudes hella funny. I hearthishow , thank you story tellers.
  • Greaek_6
    Outstanding!
Travis is amazing! Such an amazing story and an incredible amount of energy. I love the players and dedication to a fully immersive story. We’ll done Fool & Scholar! Next stop is White Vault.

    Awesome!
I enjoy Critical Role, but was looking for a replacement show while CR was on hiatus. I stumbled up Dark Dice and I have to say, it’s much more than a CR replacement. The Role Play is emphasized by dropping the die rolls and rules minutia to the wayside (it’s still done but only to tell you why certain RP is happening), this makes the whole show play out more as a well done audio drama rather than an actual-play. There’s plenty for D&d newcomers, veterans, or even non-d&d players who enjoy Fantasy Horror, all will find something to enjoy. As a long time DM myself, I particularly enjoy when the games DM comments on the game out of nowhere. Always gives me a good laugh. Please, keep making this show, it’s incredibly well done.
  • Captain Obligvious
Just what I was looking for.
Incredible voice acting, atmospheric music, story driven play, and talented Dungeon Master. Take my money! The fact that this is a horror podcast only makes better.
  • AzureKnoll
    I love your content!
I discovered Fool and Scholar first with The White Vault. Upon discovering Dark Dice though I fell in love with theirs style. I love how they use sound effects to add to the story and I’ve become invested in the story. I can’t wait for more in the Dark Dice universe.

Came for Goldblum, still won’t be staying
When I heard Jeff Goldblum was going to be on a D&D podcast, I thought this was going to be a wonderful creation of my favorite things. However, while Goldblum is as radiant and brilliant as ever, he cannot save this podcast. If you are here for a fantasy story over acted with distracting sound effect and music that overshadows the voices, then maybe this is for you. If you are someone like me who listens to several other D&D play through podcasts, I’ll tell you this is not like any of the others. I don’t like that I have no idea how this story is coming to be. Was any of this because of certain rolls? I’ll never know. It’s as if they used the game to write a story, and then are just giving us the story after. The game is hardly in sight. No funny banter. I don’t feel apart of this. And even the story is lackluster and I strain to hear the voices. Everyone uses “an actor voice” and not something as immersive as I think they intended. To say I’m disappointed and dissatisfied is an understatement. I really do not know why Goldblum joined this podcast. If this is for his “World According to” show and he is doing an episode on D&D, I’m really disappointed he picked this show. I would have rather he was on a show like The Adventure Zone or NADDPOD. Heck would have even been hilarious for him to try out Dungeons and Daddies. This. This isn’t D&D for me. This is just an awful audio fantasy.

    Awesome
My only complaint is that I have to wait for new episodes! Great job!

    Crazy production value!!
Epic actual play that combines the best of DnD and Call of Cthulhu gaming systems. It’s interesting to finally have a DnD podcast that isn’t afraid to get dark. Great voice acting, great storytelling, just overall great.
  • PRFB
    Extraordinary!
Such fun to listen to- an engrossing story with phenomenal production values and a great, endearing cast. The soundtrack - with 40 person choir?!? - is astonishing but what really made this for me was the perfect balance of an engrossing (and frankly sometimes gross) horror story and a live-play format that let the players’ humor and charm shine through.

    Season One and beyond…
Just wrapped up season One and WOW! A terrific mix of story, game mechanics, and atmosphere. Really looking forward to season two…and now I REALLY know what to do with Grey Ooze…

Come for the Goldblum, stay for the story
Listened to the first season in 3 days. It's amazing:)

Liking that more of the actual game is included
Season 1 was fun binge listening. Seems I got through it all in time to catch Goldblum’s first episode on release day! As much as I thought season 1 was good (4/5), the new style for season 2 is way more too my liking! Specifically the inclusion of more of the actual game during combat which is tremendously fun, funny and descriptive. (And amazing to hear Goldblum rolling dice and casting spells!). This side is what I missed in season 1 and what made the story a bit harder for me to follow (though I loved the arc and themes! I was playing Darkest Dungeon too, so lots of ideas to maybe bring into my own D&D games in future!) Loving the explosion in awesome creator-driven D&D content!
  • Alipooper
    Storytelling at its finest
Absolutely in love with the way the game is played and the story is told. Everyone does such an amazing job vocalizing the emotions, setting the scenes, and bringing the listener in on the adventure. Thanks for doing what y’all do!

LOVE it it brings back memories of playing RPGs at my local game store with my father and being almost 10 when I first started coming along. Being the youngest person there. Wondering what all these guys and gals were talking about. Of COURSE I was a Orc with the biggest axe possible. lol. But anywayssss, keep it up love the pod.

    Finally
Finally found a TTRPG podcast that can hold my interest at the standards of Glass Cannon Network and Hero Club! Loving the work these guys put into the game.

    Incredible
Dark Dice is the perfect actual-play podcast for those who love audio drama and aren't yet convinced that they'd love an actual-play; the way the actions of the players and characters are narrated adds an extra layer of immersion that's truly a joy to experience. Add to that the fact that this story revels in the darkness of its horror genre rather than shying away from it, and that all of the cast involved are clearly incredibly talented, and I'm only sorry I didn't start listening sooner! I discovered this podcast via falling in love with its music (nominated for 2020 Audio Verse Awards), and was pleasantly surprised to find that the podcast as a whole is EVEN BETTER than the music alone had led me to think it might be.

The best podcast I’ve ever listened to
I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet. Amazing story, phenomenal production value, great voice acting, and fantastic immersion. This podcast is the standard I hold other fiction podcasts to. I really enjoy that there is not a ton of table talk, it makes it that much more immersive! The other podcasts Fool and Scholar produce (the White Vault) are also phenomenal. I have been listening for years now, and I only want more!
  • nonwokenerd
    Best Ttrpg podcast I’ve heard.
I don’t know why this podcast isn’t 5.0 star. Not only is the story creepy and intriguing but the production, narration, and acting are outstanding. The way they bypass all the combat rolls and just do a beautiful description of battle is the best. Cannot wait for season 2.
  • dfang7221
    This podcast is dorkily amazing!!
I only ever leave reviews for podcast I fall in love with. And I have to say this is one of them! If you like D&D and horror, this is the podcast for you! The cast is so witty and full of humor in a dark scened game of D&D it adds a bit of light to the see through. All in all, this podcast is amazing!! I’m Rae Serbeck and I approve of this message 🤘🏻

    Incredible Production
This was my primer for Dungeons & Dragons and I’ve been captivated by both the game and this production ever since I listened to the first episode and binged the season several months ago. I love going back to the early episodes in particular for inspiration on how in-depth character backgrounds can be whenever I want to roll a new PC. Can’t speak highly enough about the voice talent, sound effects, and music.
  • Naska!
    Awesome!
Such a good show. The best app I’ve listened to by far. Cant wait to run the domain of the nameless god for my group!
