What happened to all the episodes from 2008?

    OK
I like the content, the commercials are annoying. I realize people have to get paid but they are repetitive, obnoxious and excessive. I guess it’s the big corporate connection. I can skip through but yeah.

    Names
Your family doesn’t seem to have empathy which stinks. Having been guilted into changing my name when I was married I appreciate MY name even more now that I’m am not. Not the same thing but it is 100% valid the way you feel imho. I’m sad that your family and new SIL didn’t have the care to consider you at all.

    Love the perspective
I love how many of the episodes showcase an entirely different perspective and life experiences than my own. I absolutely recommend the show.

    Bring back old SMNTY
This used to be my feminist podcast - that’s just not what is is anymore. Now most episodes are not remotely feminist, and the ones that try to be, are not super relevant and don’t at all properly discuss the topic or explore it at all. Enough with the absurd focus on sci-fi fan-fiction; are you kidding me?! So not the platform to talk about your fan-fiction and love of sci-fi -.- this was the first podcast I ever subscribed to, I can’t believe I’m unsubscribing today. Please turn this show around.

    Raw, honest
I think these women are open, thoughtful and articulate. They research well and are clear when things are simply opinion. As for the bad reviews, I don’t understand why people feel the need to vent their anger at media that is free. No one is holding me down and forcing me to listen. Thanks for this feminism without the men-hating. Samantha you’ve touched my grandma heart, and Annie I love Terminus!!!

    Amount of ads is absurd
I like the hosts, and this pod is more of a casual listen for me (I too am a simp for tlou), but damn… the episodes start with like 1.5-2 mins of ads, and then have another 1.5-2 mins of ads in the middle and possibly another time, and then at the end (idk I’m not fact checking the exact amount, but it feels legitimately overwhelming and repetitive). All of the ads are like the same things repeated too. The episodes in general aren’t long enough for this quantity and length of advertising. I’ll probably listen in when I’m intrigued by a title, but y’all the ads are driving me away.

    Flop
Gaslighting topic could have been good, if they hadn’t gone into the political crap…. She conflates politics, just have fun.

    Lovely Feminist Podcast
I really like this podcast, which is conversational in tone but offers deep dives into the gender dynamics of myriad topics (technology, social situations, media, etc). I think there’s a little bit of fluff sometimes, but it also makes it feel like less like a lecture and more like a dialogue.

    mixed feelings
I agree that the original host had some great content. I feel like the mixture of formats paired with less reflective content is a shame. Some stereotypes often get reinforced, like people in the south are all conservative or anti-feminist. Diversity exists everywhere, and it seems surprising myopic for a feminist podcast to not recognize that people in power are not the same as all the people. With gerrymandering, sometimes they’re not even representative. I think being a little bit more careful with generalizations would be helpful.

Still enjoy the pod, but could use some improvements
I’ve been listening to the podcast on & off since 2016. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED it when Cristen & Caroline were the hosts. Initially, I was a bit turns off by Anney & Samantha. Their dynamic felt clunky and tbh (hate to say it but) Samantha is pretty inarticulate. I’ve since adjusted to the dynamic and communication style and I still enjoy the show, mostly because they tackle super interesting topics. My other criticism would be that they just come out with too many topics and I think the volume of content is overkill.

I’m so sick of all the ads at the beginning middle and end of the episodes. Like seriously. Are you that hard up for money?
  • 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻so good
    What the actual frick
It says the rating is clean and then in an episode title they use the b word- WHAT THE ACTUAL FRICK!?!?!???!?

    I love SMNTY!
I may not listen to every happy hour or SITC recap, but I love the book club discussions and the general episodes for how they explore in-depth topics. Sam in particular has a great perspective as a former social worker that I find insightful. As a fellow nerd I relate with Anney as well, although my nerd interests reside in very different areas. I highly recommend this podcast because of the variety. I feel like when I recommend it to other people I recommend different particular episodes, but there is always something for everyone. Super enjoyable, especially for long car rides and long run workouts!

    Racists
Don’t bother with the new episodes. The old ones with the old hosts are good. The new hosts are racist, bitter, and hateful. Horrible to listen to.
  • CammyCam69
    They have great chemistry!
I love that they truly seem like besties!! My favorite episodes are happy hour, or ones where they watch shows & movies together!! They always bring a feminist perspective that’s cathartic to hear. They rock!
  • ShanDemps
    Not compelling
The two new hosts are very nice but need to quit it with the constant nervous laughter. Also on the latest Pandemic Gender Gap episode, they both went on diatribes about how they have wide feet, blurry eyes, and don’t go to the dentist?! Are you serious? Do people actually care? Will unsubscribe. Also for the love of God please go to the dentist and doctor. Yikes.

    Don’t Force Your Politics
I was really looking forward to hearing two women give a platform for other women of all ages to discuss varying issues and viewpoints. I have unsubscribed and so have all of my friends. Even my liberal friends do not like to have a one-sided discussion with nothing to substantiate it. A liberal president could be a good choice, but I think we all can agree that Biden is not mentally capable of leading any business and women like Stacey Abrams should not be lauded simply because she is a woman when she has no experience or common sense. We want wise women leaders because they are the best choice for the job!

    .
Your redhead podcast was like listening to teen age girls at a sleep over. Giggles and only giggles. Serious handling of medical things. Historical famous redheads. Etc could have been your focus. But you chose pubic hair and wild in bed to talk about over and over. This is an example of how women are objectified and you walked into it with open arms. Pitiful. Red hair is special and fun having. People who say something about it are simply noticing it. You didn't no research or had no point. Terrible waste of my time. 🤪🙁

    Stop mumbling
The women who speak on this podcast have great potential, but I notice something on the ads they do. Their diction is terrible in the ads. They do not enunciate. If I were an advertiser I would be unhappy. You’re getting better, but please enunciate.
  • roamingypsie
    So good
I’m really loving the episodes on fan fiction and geeky pop culture. Oftentimes it’s hard to find spaces where they are talked as fun hobbies rather than weird things. Thank you for creating a safe space.

Laughter comes off insensitive and insensitive
This used to be my favorite podcast. I felt like I was constantly learning so much about myself and the world and would recommend to everyone I knew. But since the two new hosts took over the podcast, I have liked it significantly less. The show often covers complex and heavy topics and the host(s) will laugh throughout or go off topic. I understand that laughter can be a coping mechanism or even an unconscious habit, but to me, it comes off immature and insensitive. I’ve tried to look past it but I thoroughly do not enjoy the podcast the way I had before.

Love the Women of the World Series!
I love learning about women from other countries, as we so often are presented the Americanized version. Thank you for covering such a variety!

    I enjoy the exchange
Not sure what people mean about not liking heir voices. I think they have nice voices and unique. Way better than vocal fry.

    Amazing. Always.
Everyone complaining about how this podcast is ‘too political’ needs to go read A Brief History Of How Powerful People Have Continuously Oppressed Women For Dummies. And everyone complaining about Samantha’s voice should go successfully audition for their own voiceover job first. Oh wait, you don’t even like the sound of your own voice on your voicemail? Maybe stay in your own lane then. The hosts are, and always have been, excellent. Many topics they cover are ones you’ll rarely hear about anywhere else, and they do their research. Love it.
  • some fat chick
    Unfortunate.
These women seem great however I listened to one of their episodes about sleep and the entire thing was honestly just fatphobic. When they said the statistic for 73% chance of obesity increase when you get five or less hours of sleep a night one of the host said “Oh no! I sometimes only get five hours of sleep a night” like being fat is the worst thing that could ever happen to someone. The rest of the episode just continued with get more sleep otherwise you’ll be fat and that’s a terrible consequence. Fat people already are shunned in this world we don’t need to add on to it.
  • fanglesz
    Eeek
I can’t stand the one chick’s voice. No matter how low I turn the volume down, it’s still annoying. Sorry, I tried!

I want to give you vocal exercises and open your nasal passages. Then I might be able to listen.

    Samanthas voice is awful
The information although sometimes preachy is interesting but Samanthas voice is incredibly annoying. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard!

    Been following sense the beginning
I’ve been listening to SMNTY sense they first started and have heard their evolution. It’s been interesting to see how it’s changed. I love Samantha and Anney. The way they approach subjects makes my day on a regular based. And the one time I wrote them an email about a topic the replied immediately and then addressed the subject soon after! They feel like family, and I’m so appreciative to have the show in my life. I do miss Bridget though!!!! My only note would be that I wish the show was a little more trans inclusive. But I can tell they try.

    Disappointing...
Compared to their other stuff this podcast is pretty disappointing and it had a lot of potential but it wasn’t met. If your looking for a good podcast I would recommend their other stuff like wait wait don’t tell me, stuff you should know, and others.

    Title IX Episode
So right on!I have been in law-enforcement for 35 years investigating numerous cases of sexual assault and sexual abuse and you guys nailed it with your Title IX episode. What the Trump administration and Betsy DeVoss did is criminal and I agree these new standards re-victimize victims and discourage addressing crimes these crimes. Good riddance to Trump and his cabinet of enablers.

    It's Good!
I've listened to the back catalogue of episodes from Molly and Cristen through to today and I can understand some of the frustration that people experience with the show- it's changed A LOT over the years, depending on the hosts. That said, all shows go through change or die- they usually don't stay the same for the entire length, especially if hosts change. Also, remember that the hosts have been in lockdown since March 2020- 8 months of content without leaving the house is a feat. I currently still enjoy the show and plan to keep listening!
  • bsloths
I’ve learned a lot from these two!
Anney and Samantha have taught me so much. They really take the time to do their research and do deep dives into each issue they discuss. I also really like when they have lighter episodes and I feel like I’m just hanging out with them (Anney’s love of Star Wars is v. relatable).

    Political Bashings
Love the intent of the podcast but it has just turned too political and bashes those that don’t have the exact same views.
  • Lucaarora
This is NOT supposed to be a political podcast!!!!!
This podcast has moved be very political. Trash talking anyone that is not a Democrat. I am a female and not a Democrat and this podcast has only alienated me away from any of any sympathy towArd them through the trash talking. If I wanted to listen to a political podcast I would subscribe to one! While I am all about female empowerment, I do not believe that it should be at the expense of alienating your audience. Every other podcast put out by this show that leaves out the politics is great! But, all the political ones leave me angry after listening to them. Please stop the politics!

    Disappointed in Sponsor
I’m a longtime listener and have always loved the show but I was disappointed to listen to the episode this week and hear that SMNTY accepted a sponsorship from Chinette brand. Our environmental crisis is only worsening because of COVID and promoting a brand that sells “premium disposable tableware” is irresponsible. (Especially since environmental issues overwhelmingly affect women and people of color at higher rates. The brand sponsorship doesn’t fit with the theme of this podcast) Please be more responsible with the corporate sponsors you represent! We need to reduce our “disposable” culture, not promote it.
