Cara E. JonesAmazing companionship & guidanceDanielle has been a companion for me for years, as I navigate my burnout & severe health issues. I love what she brings to over worked, over committed faculty members. Listening to these episodes for several years has given me so much hope that there is so much more than living a life desperate for semester breaks.

Doctor SWBJust what I neededAs the semester looms ahead, I crave insights and inspiration, ways to remain grounded and to NOT feel like a doc student again five years into my current faculty position. Thank you, Danielle, for offering new perspectives and fresh ideas for me to infuse into my own path of compassionate self-discovery.

Marny RLove this show! Great benefits for all academicsThis show is an amazing resource for faculty and grad students and former academics, providing insight into the cultures and unhealthy mindsets in many academic environments and guidance on resetting and controlling our paths. Guests and host cover a wide range of topics spanning careers, mental health, parenting and families, and wellness among others — I find value and practical resources in every show. This is one of two podcasts I regularly follow and I’m grateful Danielle produces it!

Texan on the TTChanged my lifeI found Danielle’s podcast when I wasn’t sure the tenure track was for me. After listening to her story and those of her amazing guests, I found the courage to do the hard work of understanding my unrest and discomfort. I’m so grateful for this resource. It changed my life and career trajectory for the better.

Wisconsin EducatorGreat Podcast for EducatorsI really enjoy this podcast and have heard some great topics and speakers. I will say that many educators, myself included, are not in “burnout” or “career change” mode and so some topics, or the delivery, have resonated more with me than others. It is possible, and even healthy, for educators to explore career-life balance even though they are quite happy with where they currently are instead of waiting for complete dissatisfaction with their workplaces. That said, Danielle does a masterful job connecting with her guests. The message of self-compassion is an important one that every educator should embrace and regularly reflect upon.

CGanoLife-giving content!Danielle De La Mare’s podcast is exactly what I needed in order to navigate my career crisis in higher ed. The self-compassionate approach offers a gentle, loving, kind way of relating to myself, my struggles in academia, and any other struggles in life, for that matter. Anyone who listens to Danielle and her guests will be enriched by her approach, I believe; I highly recommend it!

librarian wanna beLife changing conversations for those struggling with their careerI have been listening to the Self-Compassionate professor for about six months. I cannot thank the host Danielle and her guests enough for these conversations about learning to create inner space and healing that can serve as a guide in making genuinely meaningful career decisions (hint: it does not involve doggedly trying to will yourself to do better!). I run the risk of sounding a bit overblown by saying that this podcast has been a lifeboat during a horrific transition out of a graduate program. I cannot thank the host of this podcast enough! I highly recommend this to any one who has had to put their self on hold in the interest of pursuing academic or career success.

Mmars627A goldmine of wisdom and guidanceThis podcast is incredible. As a postdoc unsure of my future career path in or out of academia, this show validated so many of my deep feelings and experiences, and provided guidance and mentorship that led me to examine my own career goals and wellness and discover a new unique path that I’m really excited about and feel empowered to pursue while keeping my well-being top priority. I find something profound and valuable in each and every episode. Thank you Danielle!!

DrBaritoneEvery academic must subscribe! An amazing resource for professors, former professors and aspiring professors seeking help and guidance with their career wellness, and all the other ancillary issues we don’t think about as we grind our way day by day as students or faculty.

AEH2019Happy to have found this podcastListening to these conversations, particularly those with Dr. Olson-Bang and Dr. Floyd, has been not only enjoyable but also helpful in my life — I had been considering entering a PhD program with the intention of becoming a professor and these conversations have helped me to determine that it might not be quite right for me. Still listening as I search for my next steps. :)
