Wrestling #143

For decades, the multi-faceted John Arezzi has enjoyed a career like no other - and his Long Island, New York-based pro wrestling radio show, “The Pro Wrestling Spotlight,” was one of the nation’s most popular sources for hot wrestling news and live guests from April,1989 through January, 1995. Now, the beloved radio show continues the tradition with “John Arezzi’s Pro Wrestling Spotlight” podcast! The PWS podcast gives listeners the inside scoop about pro wrestling during one of its most controversial eras, reviews those shows in chronological order, with the guests, callers, and even the commercials that made the show what it was. Arezzi often brings on the guests that were featured 30 years ago on the original radio broadcasts, and throws a fresh coat of paint on the format by offering new commentary and expert analysis about classic wrestling that can’t be heard anywhere else.

    Such a great podcast
First listen to his shows on the PW torch. John is such a cool person and love his old school wrestling knowledge. Glad I can listen to his pod and every time I do I learn something new. Keep up the awesome work my good sir.

    Must listen
Absolutely give this show your time. John is a walking encyclopedia of wrestling who has literally done it all. Who else can say he broke ground in the wrestling reporting genre AND been in the ring with Dusty Rhodes? One of THE BEST PODCASTS dedicated to pro wrestling

    Dull and repetitive Gaga
The hosts don’t know their history, and can’t be bothered to learn it either. John sounds uninterested most of the time, and only likes to shill for his premium content. It’s like a couple of guys who haven’t kept up on anything for decades, deciding to give opinions on a subject they really don’t care about. 2 stars only for the old radio stuff, negative stars for when they cut in and opine over it.

    A great trip through history
Each week, a fantastic time capsule trip back to wrestling as it was in the late 80s/early 90s. Never a dull episode, each one extremely interesting. Highly recommended either to fans who experienced this time period, or those who didn’t but are interested in hearing wrestling history as it happened.

    PWS
I love the podcast. I have lived in South Georgia all my life so I obviously didn’t get to listen to this way back in the day. Great to hear all these old stories and interviews. What an important and groundbreaking show this had to be for the time. I always learn something new and you hear the wrestlers in a different way than the normal promo they would cut for a show. It was kind of a shoot interview in some respects before there ever were shoot interviews. Thanks so much.

    Great show
This is an easy listen that will bring you back 30 years. It’s a time capsule to an intersection of kayfabe and the business being exposed that was a pivotal moment in time. Not to mention the great guests. Keep it up

I love this. Simply the best show next to stww. Love the nostalgia. Love the commercials. Takes me back to a simpler time. This is a winner. Gordon Gecko type of winner. Just makes me wanna dust off the snes and genesis order pizza and ask my mom if my buddies could spend the night. Absolutely a home run. John thanks for staying real and thanks for loving wrestling and keeping the dream alive. Your the great one before the rock. John mfn Arezzi Your buddy from So cal Dos Ocho
